There are a few things that matter right now - the fact that you're waking up in an unfamiliar but decently comfortable bed, the fact that you don't recognize the room you're in, the fact that you seem to have some sort of headache... Nothing severe, mind. Just the sort of odd, heavy fuzziness that comes with having slept far too long.

You don't really remember where you were immediately before this, not upon waking. Something will come to you eventually if you think long enough, however - a couple of seconds of consideration will bring to mind a place, a memory, a recollection of where you were and what you were doing.

It probably wasn't anything that would result in you being here, though.

Welcome to Graceside Preparatory Academy.

You may want to pick up the key to your room before you leave the room, but don't worry too much - your door won't lock automatically, so you won't be locked out if you've forgotten to pick it up. It seems you're not alone, either; the hallway outside your room is most likely full of other confused people by now, and should you turn around to look at the door of the room you just left, you'll find a nameplate with your name printed on it. There's a single word underneath it with no explanation. This is your title, but don't worry about that right now.

Depending on when you left your room there may be a clock chiming in the foyer up ahead. It seems like it's seven, though it's difficult to tell if it's seven in the morning or seven at night. There aren't any windows, after all. Should you venture into the room with the clock, you'll find that the only exit is closed - there's absolutely no way to break down that steel bulkhead. It looks like you're not getting out of here anytime soon.

The foyer also holds some very interesting information. There's a bulletin board with thirty-five pictures on it. Beside each picture is some very specific and very familiar information. Feel free to examine it. The bulletin board is large enough for plenty of you to gather around and gawk. Don't try to get at it though, that glass in front of it is very thick. If you try to break it, you'll find out the hard way that it's shatterproof. Sorry about that.

Perhaps even more of a concern than the glass is the list beside the profiles. It looks like a set of rules. You might want to examine those, though they're not providing much of an explanation for why you're here or how you got here.

So relax and get to know your fellow Participants. You might be stuck here for awhile.

Sayaka will walk over to Alex's side, gently clearing her throat to not scare the girl.]

Excuse me...it may possibly be a push door, so pulling on it might not be able to open it.

[She states it gently, though, more amused than anything?]

[ Alex very seriously turns to look at this other girl, considering. ]

If I just wasted two minutes of my life drumming away like an idiot on an open push door, promise not to ever tell anyone.

[ A fellow hair dye addict. She can tell. There has to be some kind of camaraderie between them. ]

Your secret's safe with me. I promise. Wanna pinky swear on it, though, for extra certainty?

[Sayaka walks a little closer, holding her pinkie out.]

It's an easy mistake to make, especially when the door's unlabeled.

[...and see, Sayaka just thinks this is Alex's natural haircolor. She blends right in with the animes.]

[ This is going to be a beautiful misunderstanding. With a look of solemn relief, Alex loops her pinkie around Sayaka's. ]

[ ...Just try to open the door, Alex- ]

[And they shake on it! Social link, acquired!!

Do you want to give it another try, then? I'll pitch in too, just for extra measure.

Sure. On three. ...Three. [ Not wasting time there- Oh. Well. ] Urgh, that's- nope. Still locked.

[--Hey!]

Aw, no fair! I was expecting a count down!

[Sayaka puffs her cheeks out a bit, indignant before shaking her head.]

It must lead to somewhere deeper in the building...that's why they're keeping it locked tighter than a vault. [Huffs.] Think it'll open up before the end of the day?

[ The little moment of levity makes Alex's lips quirk to a brief smile. But then it's right to business. ]

Maybe if we find a key or something. I don't think a...kidnapper's gonna let us explore somewhere they've locked up.

[Kidnapper gets a bit of a cringe out of Sayaka--she doesn't like the reminder that they're really in a bad situation, but--]

Then we should...probably try to get to work, before they come out. That seems like the best way to go about it, right? Do you have any idea where a good place to start would be?

[ She'll have to find a friendlier word for "person holding them against their will." ]

Mm... You know this place was my best bet, but...I don't know, I haven't really looked around a lot, besides the halls with the rooms and this whole...everything. [ She gestures around the foyer. ]

[Sayaka nods her head and...I'm assuming they let go of their pinkies at some point but she'll hold out her hand in offering.]

Well, why don't we see if we can find something they forgot to lock? I saw quite a few other rooms while walking around, even if I haven't been inside of them all yet.

[Best winning smile!! Come on, let's go on an adventure.]

[ They definitely let go of each other's pinkies a few tags back but please picture how hilarious this thread would be if they didn't

Anyway. Well, okay, adventure time it is. Hold hands, don't get lost. ]

[It would be so dumb, oh my god.]

Sayaka's mine. [...at this point she has been asked for first name basis by so many people, there is so much shoved down I GUESS going on at all of this while they walk.] It's really wonderful to meet you, Alex-san. I simply wish it were under better circumstances.

[Alright...the nearest next door looks like it's the Ballroom, from the looks of it, so Sayaka winds up guiding Alex over there, if she's cool with it. When they step inside, she's...kind of in awe.]

Woooooah... [That chandelier. That little stage.] This looks amazing!

Tell me about it. [ SORRY SAYAKA..... you're a saint for putting up with us impolite heathens tbh- ]

It'd- is that name...? [ but she's a little distracted by the ballroom too. she whistles. ] Whoa... A little fancy for my tastes, but you could put on one hell of a show in here...!

Ohhhh, Sayaka absolutely brightens when Alex brings up the idea of a show, clasping her hands in front of her.]

You really could! I could only imagine singing for people on a stage like this...I don't know anything that would go so great with a piano, though. But it'd be so wonderful...

Wait, you- you sing? Like...for real? [ She's trying to recall the profiles... Those things are so weird, but maybe helpful- ] Right! Yeah, you- you've got that on your thing, what kinda music...?

Heehee--it's my job to, actually! [Sayaka beams, brightly at Alex.] It's pop music, though. I think other parts of the world just call us 'pop stars', or something to that effect.

[ ...oh my- ]

A- a pop star?! Whoa! Ohhh, I- that is so cool? I don't- I haven't heard of you, since, you know, other countries- and I'm sorta- my stuff's usually all underground or found on bandcamp or just more niche, but still, I mean- you make music, that is so cool!

Heehee! It's a lot of hard work, I'll admit. But it's so worthwhile, you know? To be able to put your feelings out there for everyone, and maybe touch them enough to make them feel like their not alone...that's the real meaning of music, to me.

[...though,] I don't believe I've heard of Bandcamp before...? Maybe it's something from where you're from, but I'm wondering what it is?

Ohhhh, that's definitely how I feel about it too, the whole...music philosophy thing, but- maybe they don't have it in Japan, Bandcamp's this place a lot of, oh, small groups and artists and stuff put their music for sale. Usually you can pay a minimum price but donate more to help get them off the ground. You can even listen to it there before you buy.

...No, we don't have anything like that at home.

[She actually looks, like, in utter awe? Holy shit, could she possibly go solo with the help of her fans and this site?

Well...once I get home, I think I know what I'll be doing. It'd be nice to give something to the people looking to pursue their own dreams!
