WEEK 1 You may not have learned much about the Coordinators (besides how unhelpful they are), but one thing's for sure: there's no way out of here. It seems like you're stuck here for the time being and the rules the Coordinators told you about are still hanging in every room. You'll be left to your own devices now - feel free to continue exploring and getting to know your fellow Participants for the next several days. Should you want to eat something you're free to use the kitchen before 10PM, but after that the doors will be locked and no amount of fussing with the locks or trying to break them down will get them to budge. Every morning at exactly 7AM the clock in the foyer will chime, welcoming you to a brand new day here in Graceside Preparatory Academy. This will happen every morning at 7AM and again in the evenings at 10PM. You'll be able to hear the clock chime no matter what room you're in. There isn't a punishment for sleeping in, but you don't want to waste the day in bed, now do you? (Unless you were out exploring all last night. In which case, go back to bed, damn.) Yes, actually. I think I saw toolkits in here earlier?

[Not in this box, though, this is just an ungodly amount of rope. She puts it back.]

I think they might be over there? [Sayaka points to some boxes in back of her, that she hasn't touched.] I've mostly been looking for a blanket or two, but I thought I might find something else while I was in here.

Did you find something worth trying out the kit on?

[heritrix]

[Rin mutters a thank you and walks over to the other boxes, opening the nearest one up.]

I expect it to be a dead end, but I'm wondering if there's anything it it I could use to that that door off its hinges. You know, the one in the stairwell?

[destage]

Oh, that door! It's worth a try, at least. Rule 4 would protect you in that case, I'm hoping.

[Unless they, you know, decide to amend that.]

Do you think it's a way out?

[heritrix]

[It does say certain places are off limits... but only at night, right?]

I'm not sure, but it's more worthwhile than tunneling through the floors, I think. If it leads down, that implies there's at least one more floor beneath us.

Maybe it leads to the other Coordinator's office? Or the thing connecting all of the speakers.

[That's her first guess, anyway. But hmm...]

I hope it's something actively useful to us, at least. It'd be kind of a waste if it just lead to nowhere.

Oh, I think you could be on to something about the Coordinator's, actually. The female one—Alena, I guess; she told me earlier today she had a place to go sleep if she needs it. it would make sense design-wise if that were near the other dorms.

[destage]

...That would make sense, wouldn't it? Maybe there's some sort of tunnel she goes through her office to get to it.

If she needs it, though? Does she not sleep?

[heritrix]

I don't know if it's that, or that she sleeps less. Like a workaholic.

[destage]

...Honestly, I can understand that. [Ah, workaholicism. It runs in the family.] But I'm honestly surprised. I would've thought she'd at least try to get some kind of sleep...and she doesn't even look like she has bags under her eyes! Honestly! What is she using, then?

[heritrix]

You could ask. Either you'll get a slippery answer, or a great beauty tip.

[destage]

...I think I'll ask that once we get an escape route together. Before we leave, you know? That way we can focus on getting some more useful answers for the time being?

[...she rubs the back of her head, though. She was...kind of genuinely considering it...]

[Hey, it wouldn't be a bad thing...]

There's usefulness in non-answers too, depending on how you look at them. [Rin makes a little aha sound as she opens up another box, finding the toolkits this time.] Or that's generally how it works. Miss Coordinator is hard to get a read on; I'll give her credit for that.

[destage]

...Sort of, at least. You ever notice how whenever she smiles, it doesn't reach her eyes? I think she's not exactly good with emotions in the first place.

[Sayaka says that a little absently, grabbing another blanket. These things are so goddamn comfy--]

But that is true. It's all in the reaction.

[heritrix]

Mm. I have some experience with people like that. [Hello Kirei, what dead eyes you have.] But even they perform better in a conversation, you know? Besides emotions, I don't think she has well developed social skills.

[destage]

...Really? I think she does okay. She's a little awkward and seeming to go through the motions, but it's mostly in her expressions where she kind of seems...off, I guess.

[heritrix]

Huh. [...] Maybe we've just had different kinds of conversations with her.

[destage]

It's a possibility. I'm not...very good at asking things, I admit.

[Sayaka giggles a bit, before smiling at Rin.]

I assume that's more your territory, Tohsaka-san?

[heritrix]

In a way. You could say it's in my nature to seek out knowledge.

[destage]

Is that just your nature as a student? Or is that something you do as a Supervisor?

[heritrix]

Ahh, it's a little of both, actually? Those are two separate things, but they overlap in that respect.

[destage]

I see...may I ask what you do as a Supervisor, then? Is it like going around the town and making sure everyone's fine or something?

[heritrix]

Do you mind if I ask a question before that, Maizono-san? [Because she's going to, oops.] What's life in your town like?

[destage]

Certainly...it's honestly rather normal, though? Tokyo doesn't get many unusual happenings, save for the weather sometimes.

[She mutters something like "that's what I thought", and shakes her head.]

It's honestly better for people who hail from normal lives not to know what it is that I do.

[Rin brushes back a lock of her hair.] There's a surprising number of people here who wouldn't bat an eye, and by being in this situation and meeting them you're already privy to stranger things. Still, it would be careless of me to tell you about myself without informing you of that first, if your world is anything like mine.
