[ The ballroom's a little swanky for a simple get-together like this, but...

Well, actually, judging by what you see when you come in at the appointed time (or even before that, but Aligula'll be huffy if you do!?), what was advertised is not exactly what's going on. Continuing her war on paper, Aligula's put up origami hearts (or her attempts at them; she got better as she figured out what she was doing, but they're not the best) pretty much everywhere. There's also sheets taped to every wall with encouraging things in her curly-cute script like GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER! and FIND A PARTNER! and WELCOME TO SPEED-DATING!

...Yeah, welcome to speed-dating.

There's a lot of chairs paired together, presumably for the whole "partnering up" thing, and everyone anywhere near the ballroom will be getting a sheet of questions titled SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS. There at least seems to be food like she promised? At least... there's signs pointing to the dining room across the wall to suggest it, and entering the dining room gets you hot chocolate (and water, if you're boring, as well treating you to the sight of a parfait bar, with various cups and glasses to stand in for actual parfait glasses. There's also things for making sandwiches—she pretty much grabbed whatever she could think of from the fridge and such—and of course, plates and utensils and etc.

And if none of that's appetizing then, like, kitchen's not that far, go make something yourself. She put a lot of work into this whole thing but especially the parfait bar because she loves parfait and everyone can have fun making those.

If you don't think your character would've come without a little help, don't worry; even if Aligula can't bodily drag everyone, she sure can bother them aggressively until they come just to get her to leave them alone. All in all, don't sweat the small stuff and have a good time getting to know each other! Or go sulk and play the piano, whatever. ]

Oh. [Rin's smile is smaller, but she seems to have no issue laughing at herself.] I should have guessed from your style of dress that you wouldn't know pizza, admittedly. But not even pineapple, huh? It's a prickly, golden fruit.

I haven't heard of it. What does it taste like? Is it sweet?

It's sweet, but also a little tangy. Like honey, but more acidic.

Honey, but acidic... It sounds interesting. I should like to try it someday.

I suppose it is my turn to ask something of you, correct?

Oh, that one's easy. My favorite thing about myself is my name.

That's an interesting answer, for certain. What would your name happen to be?

Rin Tohsaka. And you're Adelina, yes?

Yes, that's correct. It's a pleasure to meet you.

[She gives a small curtsy as curiosity overtakes her.]

Does your name have another meaning?

[Fun fact: I already knew what the kanji for Rin's given name means, but this question made me look up which ones are used for Tohsaka, which combined turns out to be "distant hill".]

Most names do, but I've never been into that sort of thing. I like it because it's both the name my parents bestowed on me, and one I share with my ancestors.

[There's a slight pause here, but Rin's lips stretch into a soft smile that touches her eyes.]

Best and worst... That's difficult! At least, deciding what the worst would be is. The best is a sword that was given to me by my sister - it is called Bloodbiter, and it has served me well.

[A small frown.]

I'm uncertain as to what the worst would be. There's nothing I've received that I did not appreciate.

[heritrix]

[Oh, so she's a swordsman. Not just a princess, but one that knows battle well.]

[She thinks about it, and then shakes her head.]

No. The seamstresses who work in the castle are incredibly skilled. I can't say that any of my clothing is ill fitting or uncomfortable.

The best would be a pendant my father left for me. It's a one of a kind jewel he spent years perfecting, starting on it before I was even born.

[It contained the equivalent of ten years' worth of Rin's magical energy. For her father who had much smaller reserves, he must have worked at it for most of his life.

...which she then blew in one go two days after she got it. Oops.]

The worst... [Ugh, she's got it.] The worst would be the clothes Kirei got me for my sixteenth birthday last year. They didn't suit me, so I didn't feel bad about regifting them.

You must treasure it. Is it an item you found on your person when you arrived here?

No, the pendant was left in my jewelry box. And you're referring to the profiles in the foyer? There in indeed a man with that name on it.
