WEEK 2.

WEEK 2

Two people are dead. Jean Kirstein and Caren have both died due to a tragic accident. Of course, you're not entirely innocent, are you? You voted, you played into this game the Coordinators are running. But you know the stakes now. You know what failure to complete Rule Seven really means.

No more excuses from here on out.

Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost...

Of course, exploring the building from here on will reveal something new: namely, a stairwell in the northeastern corner, leading upwards toward a new floor entirely. Another sign of how things are going to progress around here, maybe; chances are you'll enjoy what you've been given, but was it worth the lives of two people to obtain?

Yeah, like... drenched in cleaning stuff.

[Damn you 1870s, with your lack of anthrax vaccines and terrible mental institutions.]
explosivecombat: (Someone needs to listen more carefully)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2017-09-17 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
...It belonged to someone I served with in Ishval. I last saw him...it can't have been too long ago, perhaps spring of last year? He came by the prison to talk to me.

[He doesn't remember exactly how long it's been; that bothers him. But then, his sense of time is kind of screwed up at this point...]

Either way, he's dead now, I'm sure. I suppose it's possible that he simply disappeared again, but I doubt that to be the case. A bit of a shame, he was an interesting person.
destage: (DISMAY ♡ Stop embarrassing me!!)

--S-sorry! I just...don't want to be disrespectful!

[...THAT'S MORE TOWARD THE LAST BIT THAN ANYTHING--]

But, I...also don't want something to happen to you, if you need to go out and get something for yourself. S-so--leave this to me, if you want to.

[personal profile] sadisticwarfare 2017-09-17 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I see.

[That escalated quickly...]

Well, I have no use for it, so you're welcome to have it if you want it.

Why would a hospital be drenched in cleaning stuff? Those odors are bad for the sick.

[I mean, sure, they mop floors and stuff. But that's just water and a little soap, not anything special.]
explosivecombat: (Yes - I remember you well)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2017-09-17 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Honestly, I'm not certain I have use for it, either, but I suppose I can keep it, anyway.

[He'll pick that up, then, along with those stones; he'll immediately start playing with those between his fingers, looking incredibly pleased to see at least one of them.]

One of these is definitely mine. I wonder where the second came from...
sadisticwarfare: (♕ 09)

[personal profile] sadisticwarfare 2017-09-17 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh? What are they?

[They aren't ordinary stones, right?]
explosivecombat: (And that's verbatim)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2017-09-17 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you really not know...?

[Ohhh, Archer. He fucking loves these things.]

They're Philosopher's Stones.
sadisticwarfare: (♕ 33)

[personal profile] sadisticwarfare 2017-09-17 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Philosopher's Stones... Really?

[He's familiar with the general idea of what they can do, at least.]

That's fascinating.

[...on the "oh god, why in holy hell am I awake" side of the morning, if for some horrible reason you're also conscious you can encounter Rin occasionally pacing the perimeter of the first floor. She doesn't appear to be keeping watch or anything, so much as just walking, noteworthy only because she didn't leave her room much on Saturday, the day after the trial.

Around 4 AM or so, she finds herself in the foyer, standing before the clock. It's, uh, a very pretty clock, but she looks kind of zoned out? Upon close inspection her hair and clothes are as perfect as ever, but with bags under her eyes and skin two shades too pale, her appearance can only be described as haggard. Unless called out to multiple times or approaching alarmingly close, her attention is going to remain on that clock too.

Eventually though, as it gets closer to proper morning Rin will shake out of her stupor, stirred either by the sounds of the other Participants beginning to shuffle or the clock chiming the first bell. Automatically, she turns for the kitchen, but...

...was that stairwell always there?

Once she makes it up to the second floor, Rin only glances at the conference room before abandoning checking out any of the other rooms entirely once she notices the infirmary. It takes some searching around, but she's relieved she checked because eventually she does find what she was looking for: a variety of odd ingredients that no one here but Kirei and herself would be able to guess the purpose of. There's several bottles of them all with different contents, and she checks over each one diligently before awkwardly gathering them up in one arm (she's notably not using her left arm, like at all) and making to go back downstairs.

...Or you know, that would be the plan, except there's no way she can carry this much down there without dropping it all, so as a result she instead ends up stuck at the top of the stairs like a pokémon who hasn't learned Rock Climb, sitting on the top step and glaring at the ones below it in mild consternation. Little help?

One way or the other, she does make it back to Room 14 at some point, and it's still early when she does. If you missed the whole morning adventure or need to find her, this is where she'll be. Despite how many hours are left in the day to burn however, she won't be leaving her room much, if at all.]

I mean, you don't want viruses and diseases and stuff lying around.

["wow rude" says a virus in Fern, probably]

[personal profile] matchbreaker 2017-09-17 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh please, I'm beautiful if you look or don't look.

[ . . . that said, she's saying that with a teasing tone as she shreds the towel and is going to put on the school uniform now??? ]
zomgboom: (ugh i haven't checked my phone for ages)

[personal profile] zomgboom 2017-09-17 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
If people give you stuff, they can take it away unless you already hid it. [This is absolutely not why she's taking the painkillers, but.] I'm, like, saving these for a rainy day when one of you gets your [bleeped for your sanity by the Beyond Corp.©] beat.

[A quick google search tells me that viruses were first discovered in 1892, so!]

If someone didn't want to catch a disease, then they should not be in an infirmary I think.

[Look, that's just how things are in his time. If you don't want to get sick, stay away from the sick.]
greenmamabear: (You're not sure what this is)

[personal profile] greenmamabear 2017-09-17 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
...I mean, I never finished pre-med, but I'm pretty sure if you're already in the infirmary, you don't wanna catch other people's stuff.
destage: (ANNOYED ♡ Oh my god no?)

[personal profile] destage 2017-09-17 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
...It's clear that they pay more attention to some places than others. Maybe they just didn't get a chance to touch this room.

[It's...weird, though, she agrees with that much.]

They can't even keep it consistent.

[ Waving his hand, he totally knows. ]

Same here, usually don't have the time between starting wars and all that fun stuff~. What are you reading now?

[That was...an odd dream. Kyrie dreamed she had reached Rokkenjima safely, and that the family conference had gone...well, it didn't go as well as it should have gone. No surprise there.

All wasn't so odd for a dream until the envelope regarding Beatrice's challenge appeared. Solve the epitaph or else everyone will die? It'd be an interesting challenge if it wasn't because she's trapped in another deadly challenge right now.

So she chalks that dream to her mind trying to cope with the current mutual killing game. There are other things to worry about than some silly dream, though.

Library

Now this is just what she wanted! A library! This is great! Kyrie browses the selection of books and chooses one, sitting on one of the comfy chairs to read]

Finally, something to keep ourselves entertained. I was starting to get antsy the other day, having nothing to do.

[Infirmary

This is a good place to have now, too. They'll be able to deal with any injuries or wound anyone trying to kill other people may do. The problem is that she has no idea about that kind of stuff. When you enter, she asks:]

Do you know first aid or anything about medicine?
explosivecombat: (How cruel...)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2017-09-17 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I did tell you that I had one with me in prison.

[He shifts his hand a bit, flicking the faceted one over to show it off in Archer's direction.]

This one has been with me since Ishval. I don't recognize the other, however.

Vending Machine

[personal profile] chessturner 2017-09-17 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[What a beautiful painting! Kyrie doesn't find it familiar, nor knows it's called 'Sayuri', but you don't need to know the name of a painting to admire it. She picks up the painting, examining it]

What a beautiful painting! This came out of the vending machine?
blackmass: (say one word I'll laugh and bury you)

[personal profile] blackmass 2017-09-17 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm hardly about to stop you, but do keep in mind that your apparent tendency has not gone unnoticed.
blackmass: (anger and agony)

[personal profile] blackmass 2017-09-17 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
It was an unfortunate situation, but there is little point in being troubled over a foregone conclusion. We merely have to recover and reconsider our actions from here onward.
sadisticwarfare: (♕ 43)

[personal profile] sadisticwarfare 2017-09-17 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
They fell out of the machine at the same time, so I assumed they go together, but perhaps I was just lucky.

[A two-for-one deal...??]

[That sure is a pile of failed attempts]

I'm just looking through some of the mystery books. I used to read a lot of them when I was younger; I've always had a fondness for trying to determine what happened before the book actually explains it.
