As the fourth week comes to a close and Friday morning dawns like the rest of the week before it, with the chiming of the clock and the doors to the kitchen unlocking, it seems, for a brief moment, that everything will be normal. For a given degee of "normal", anyway – perhaps some are on edge because there's a definite pattern that's been happening here, but for a few blissful moments, everything seems quiet. It doesn't last long; eventually, Jericho's voice can be heard over the public-address system. He doesn't sound as excitable as usual, though perhaps that can be explained away with the content of his message: "Hey. Just so you know, we've kind of got a problem this morning. Nothing catastrophic or anything, but you might want to get into the foyer so you know what's going on. We'll be waiting." You might want to go.

[There's nothing off here, no - the rest of her body actually seems to be fine, which isn't really going to help those suspicions.

...Granted, there's also something else on the bar that's possibly not going to help those suspicions, either, if you want to take a look.]

[Well, she is, because of course she is. What do we got?]

[We've got what looks like a piece of paper with some writing on it, shoved off to the side. Not very far from the body, but out of the path of the blood.]

[...oh. Okay then.

Rin reaches out for the paper, a stoic look on her face. What does the note say?]

I'm pouring one last one out, and then doing this to reset the timer. This note is so you don't tear each other apart at the trial, if they make you have one. I'm taking responsibility for my actions now.

Keep trying to get out of here. You'll make it, just don't give up.

[That note is being folded very neatly because if she didn't control herself she'd crumple it to be taken to the trial room for later, along with the dagger.

[One more brief thing, regarding the note -

It's not in handwriting that's immediately and definitively recognizable as belonging to anyone (that is, it definitely isn't Aligula's, nor does it belong to anyone who's sent notes around for a party) but it's also generally unrecognizable at least partly due to the fact that it seems very hastily-written.

It's not hard to believe that Sigrun was in a hurry, judging by how quickly all of this happened; then again, it's something to make note of, anyway.

[She'll gladly cling back--this is just how they're gonna be spending their time until the trial, isn't it? She buries her head into Alex, letting herself sob freely.]

E--Eide-san--Eide-san--she didn't deserve that, it's...it's...

[Heck. They could've died. Alex could've died there, and Sayaka would've been horrified--]

I wouldn't...have been able to keep my promise...

[And while people are either dispersing from the foyer, or otherwise still arguing in it (thanks Kirei, you're always a peach), Rin's going to approach Tabby's body, cautious of Alena's reaction. She was too caught up in the moment to pay close attention before, but now that she's watching for it, Alena looks kind of upset now...]

[ Promise...? Alex is confused there for a moment, but what matters really is being there for Sayaka. ]

Sh- she's- was- she didn't. None of us do. [ Promise... ] What are...you...?

...What are you doing?

[She doesn't sound like she's trying to stop Rin from doing anything in particular, just...]

We'll take care of it, you don't have to...poke it, or do whatever it is you guys do to figure out what happened to the dead people.

I heard him. [Since it doesn't look like Alena's trying to stop her then, Rin's going to drop down beside Tabby, though she's still glancing in Alena's direction.] But I can't get into her room if I don't get her key.

She was allowed to loot things all the time, so it should be fine if I do too, right?

[...Oh, that's.]

Do you think she would appreciate that?

[It's a genuine question, not an attempt to get Rin to knock it off via guilt trip.]

Maybe she'd hate it. I didn't know her that well. [And it doesn't look like that's going to change.] Maybe it would piss her off and she'd come back to haunt me as a ghost. I think I'd be okay with that.

Either way you cut it, it has to be better than this. And I can't think of a better sendoff for her.

[She thinks about that for a moment before just kind of...nodding.]

Go ahead, then. It'll be okay, Jericho's probably going to be busy for a little while.

[This wasn't the response she was expecting, but then again she's not really sure what she was thinking would happen. Without another word, Rin rifles through Tabby's pockets until she finds her room key. Alena will be able to see Rin rub under her nose for a moment, trying not to sniff as she stands back up.

Tabby's key goes into her pocket, and Rin nods once at Alena before leaving.]

Y--yeah. I...I know... [She sniffles a bit, just...kind of trying to calm herself a bit.]

What...do you mean?

[ A shaky breath. ]

What promise?

[destage]

...That I was going to keep you safe, and...find a way to get you out of that horrible mess. For good.

[sleepytimegal]

[ ...Oh. ]

Who asked you to promise that?

[destage]

No one...no one really asked me to. I want to, but...

[...]

Can we talk about this after the trial? It...it might be for the best.

Of course. I- I won't push you, n-not after...not after what we just saw.

[ She holds a little tighter. It could've been any of them. It could've been any one of them. ]
