Week 9.

WEEK 9 With another death to the timer and another double murder - accidental though that last part may have been - your numbers have been cut even further. Hibiki Ganaha, Sayaka Maizono, Alex, and Kyrie Ushiromiya are all dead, bringing those left alive from twelve down to eight. It's almost hard to believe this started with thirty-five people. There are so few of you now. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... It seems that the pattern from last week is holding; there is no new floor to occupy yourselves with. It doesn't seem much else has changed, either - leading to questions that are uncomfortable but must be confronted. Namely, where do you go from here? Is there anything you can do? Anyway, Rideaux and I had a chance to discover somethin' in the same place Aligula had.

She marks off the things on the map but she's doing this as she's reading over Blue's folder here. Her too? A ... oh. She worked with Kimblee from the inside? Tch. She will look through more of these in time but, ]

[ Or Alex, it could be Alex. the fourth "bad person." ]

[but you know while he's feeling bummed out right now he's going to take the opportunity to look a lot more closely at Vainglorious's file.]

...but wait. Am I reading it right that Sigrun... fell in love with... a robot human? Running one of these things.

You certainly are. I can't understand it either.

I mean, I actually do understand what Blue was probably trying to accomplish given what was going on in that trial, but I don't think I'll ever understand Captain Eide.

... Yeah I have no idea. I guess to her that someone being in charge of one of these set ups isn't an obstacle to... y'know.

[matchbreaker]

And that whole incident with Kirei resolved without his death.

[ Which is... weird. ]

Not to mention that Hilda was apparently involved in both Archer and Kirei's incidents.

[And...a lot of other things. Rachel being an interesting one.]

It is quite a lot to take in.

... Am I reading these wrong or do they suggest Hilda might've gotten killed at least once?

At the very least she was thought to be. Jericho made an addendum at the bottom of that page. I am not sure how that could have been an error, though... I suppose their system must have played a part in it.

I wonder if I ought to ask her about that...

[ She mutters that more to herself than anything, tapping her nail a few times on the table as she looks them over again. ]

.....What is all of this?

That is the question of the hour. If there was even any doubt left that we've been dragged into something much bigger than ourselves, it's should certainly be gone now.

With Blue and Sigrun's apparent involvement in past games, I have to wonder if there are any others here who can be counted among them...

Probably.

[ His eyebrows furrow. ]

Makes sense they're not going to be completely accurate with...whatever they're using here.

[ But it's something he's keeping in mind to ask about, anyway. ]

[I mean, Rin's over here looking at that Kirei file with a frown, and way more attention than she feels the guy deserves. But the reason why should be obvious, given what she says.]

"Whether he ended it himself..." [But the Kirei in the photo looks the exact same age as the one who was with them that long ago. Rin glances between that and rest of the document before dropping it back down to the table.] This is like how it was with Kimblee. It was just a guess back then, but I can speak more confidently about this one: the Kirei they're talking about here isn't the one we met.

You're right, that does seem to be the most likely case.

But that raises another question entirely, doesn't it? If the "masterminds" among us weren't the ones who ran games, why did Jericho want us to find them?

Hilda told Kyrie it was more of a "bonus" than anything. [She hums, thoughtfully.] The way he's talked after every trial, Jericho always sounds like someone obsessed with a favorite game and all the trivia that goes with it. It'd be fun for him.

[hesperos]

I doubt everyone let him go out of the kindness in his heart, though.

[ Yuri pretty much can't see that happening. ]

[matchbreaker]

I'm curious about "convinced to step down," honestly. I'd find it hard to imagine that man can be convinced of anything other than what he's set on.

[Rideaux's actually rather curious about that too, but-]

There were still several locked drawers when we last looked. I advise that one of us ["us" being the group] go check it again, to see if we can find a file for either her or Alex.

[matchbreaker]

Is anyone else going to run up and do it? Otherwise, I'll go right now.

[ Because she needs to see it for herself, the reality of it. ]

I'm kind of tempted to go myself.

[...it's gonna suck if it's Alex but uh.]

Well, I guess there's no reason we can't both go.

[ She hopes its Alex but she's like 95% sure it's not.

She stands and then turns to go, motioning for Tarrlok to come alone. ]
