WEEK 1.

WEEK 1

You may not have learned much about the Coordinators (besides how unhelpful they are), but one thing's for sure: there's no way out of here. It seems like you're stuck here for the time being and the rules the Coordinators told you about are still hanging in every room. You'll be left to your own devices now - feel free to continue exploring and getting to know your fellow Participants for the next several days. Should you want to eat something you're free to use the kitchen before 10PM, but after that the doors will be locked and no amount of fussing with the locks or trying to break them down will get them to budge.

Every morning at exactly 7AM the clock in the foyer will chime, welcoming you to a brand new day here in Graceside Preparatory Academy. This will happen every morning at 7AM and again in the evenings at 10PM. You'll be able to hear the clock chime no matter what room you're in. There isn't a punishment for sleeping in, but you don't want to waste the day in bed, now do you?

(Unless you were out exploring all last night. In which case, go back to bed, damn.)

PARTICIPANTS REMAINING: 35

MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY
[OOC: Welcome to week one of Trustfell! Feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend. Don't forget to save those threads for coins and the activity check!

If you'd like to get in contact with the Coordinators, you can do so through private meetings with Alena!]

ballroom;

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2017-09-11 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[All things considered, Kimblee kind of likes it in here, far moreso than anywhere else in this building; most of the other rooms have things that are strange and jarring to him, and the foyer is entirely too close to the Coordinators for his liking, it makes him prickly. But the ballroom is nice, aesthetically-speaking; it reminds him of Amestris, of the military balls that would happen sometimes in the various headquarters, even if the sealed-off windows are putting a bit of a damper on it.

So he would have come back in here eventually anyway, after he's spent some time generally trying to keep his mind off of things, but the sound of someone in here is...interesting; it's not a deterrent at all, granted, if anything it's just kind of making him wonder who's singing in here -

Ah. Hi, Sayaka - you're rather good at this, surely you don't mind if he doesn't...exactly make his presence known immediately but just stays over here by the door, do you...]
destage: (SHOCK ♡ Run that one by me again?)

[personal profile] destage 2017-09-11 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[She doesn't seem to mind--whether that's because of actual minding or the fact that she doesn't notice him is...okay, probably very heavily skewed to the latter, due to her level of focus. But Sayaka sings evenly, though, until she reaches the end of the song. She doesn't look toward the door immediately--she mutters a bit to herself, almost seeming a little bit chiding.]

That was okay, but it still needs work. Could've done a little better on the bridge, though I think I've got everything else perfect now...I'll take it from the top again.

[Once she's done with that, she looks around the room again and--oh!]

Woah--Kimblee-san! I didn't expect to see you here!

[...She doesn't admittedly mind, though, and after the shock wears off, there's a bit of a chuckle.]

If I'd known that I was going to get an audience, I would've tried to be a little louder!
explosivecombat: (I like the way you think)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2017-09-11 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
No, no, it's quite all right, Miss Maizono - you're rather good at that, if you don't mind commentary.

[...Not like he didn't just...give you commentary anyway...]

Is that something to do with your particular talent that you mentioned yesterday, or just a hobby?
destage: (SING ♡ Bring on the music)

[personal profile] destage 2017-09-11 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
No, not at all! Honestly, I didn't really expect anyone to come on by...not this late, anyway. I'm glad you liked it.

[It's probably not that late, but Sayaka clasps her hands on her lap and nods.]

Oh, it's my talent! Back home, I'm an Idol--I'm technically one of the five girls who sings in my group, but I've been at it for about...four years now? Not counting the couple years of practice I had to do, just to get in the door.
explosivecombat: (Someone needs to listen more carefully)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2017-09-12 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
Idol...

[What the...hell is that, I mean he can figure out part of it from context, but- ]

So idols are singers and musicians, then? You'll have to forgive me for being unfamiliar with the term, Amestris doesn't really have such things. At least not by that sort of name.
destage: (THINK ♡ Well it's not like I'll die)

[personal profile] destage 2017-09-12 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, don't you even worry about that. [Sayaka shakes her head.] You're not alone in that regard here. And it's not offensive to me in any way.

But yeah, that's basically it! I think the best way to describe us is like...we're sort of training to go on our own one day, and pursue our own careers. Does that make sense?

[She at least wants to be conscious of that, which is why she asks.]
explosivecombat: (We'll take a third option)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2017-09-12 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
[...Ohhhh, oh, so it's like - ]

So for the time being, you sing in a group... But once you've progressed far enough in that endeavor, you can have your own career, while having already established yourself enough within the profession for that to be a lucrative move. Something like that?
destage: (SMILE ♡ It's nice to meet you!)

[personal profile] destage 2017-09-12 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
[...that's kind of a hands off way of putting it, but--]

Yes, that's it! It helps build you up so you can leave the metaphorical nest. Your success after that really depends on the fanbase you've built up over time, and just how memorable or talented you are on your own two feet.
explosivecombat: (It's no accident that I've survived)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2017-09-12 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
[...He's sort of like that.]

That sounds absolutely fascinating, even if it's not a process we have - but then, we don't seem to have the same options as a good amount of you seem to. Nothing to complain about, just a difference that I've noticed.
destage: (UH ♡ I have SEVERAL questions)

[personal profile] destage 2017-09-12 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
[She's...starting to get that.]

Are many of the industries where you come from not doing well, Kimblee-san? [Sayaka tilts her head a bit, in curiosity.] Or is it simply a matter of amount...?
explosivecombat: (Someone needs to listen more carefully)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2017-09-12 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
We don't have an entire industry built around entertainment, for one thing - at least not in the same way. Movies are popular nowadays, but they're still fairly novel and generally watched for the story rather than the people in them; we have musicians and the like, but they're private performers as opposed to part of something larger. The idea of...fanbases, built around a particular individual, is a bit strange to me as a result.

[He doesn't sound judgmental, for what it's worth, merely stating facts.]

The industries we do have are far simpler than what most people here seem to be experiencing - Amestris is very rural for the most part, and what isn't rural is either heavily militarized or up near the mines. We do have merchants and trade work, some of it highly specialized... But for the most part our options lie in cows, coal, or conscription.
destage: (HMM ♡ Observing intensifies)

[personal profile] destage 2017-09-12 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[Huh. Sayaka listens closely, though, living up to her title--it does admittedly make her wonder, honestly, just how far behind Amestris is on technology or the like to have so few businesses. It sounds like a very basic kind of place, but not exactly worse for it.

But at the same time, the way he speaks about Movies...that's interesting. Huh.]

I think I'm seeing what you mean. But I hope you can forgive a slightly weirder question--what year is it, where you come from?
explosivecombat: (I haven't the vaguest where he's gone)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2017-09-12 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[...Oh, that's...]

It's...1915, I believe? My sense of time isn't the best, I'll admit, but the year just turned over, it's winter. Why?
destage: (SWEAT ♡ Queen of awful people...?)

[personal profile] destage 2017-09-12 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[...ah. That makes sense and raises...approximately twenty questions. Great.]

...There's...definitely something at play here, then. It's 2010, back where I come from. And Summer, to boot.

[That's. Um. Wonderful! Simply wonderful.]

It at least makes a little more sense, about why things are so different...?
explosivecombat: (Pretty sure my whole brain is crying)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2017-09-12 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
2010...

[You can't possibly be serious, what on earth - ]

Well... I'd say so, yes.
destage: (CONCERN ♡ This might be bad...)

[personal profile] destage 2017-09-12 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[...did she break the man's brain, oh god--]

Kimblee-san, are you going to be okay? ...Do you need to take a seat for a moment?

[She is being done a concern, man.]
explosivecombat: (Don't think you're so smart)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2017-09-13 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Ah... No, no, I'm fine, I just wasn't expecting that. Although I don't think most would expect "almost one hundred years into the future", honestly...
destage: (THINK ♡ Gotta go after baseball boy)

[personal profile] destage 2017-09-13 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Ah...that's very true. I really could've been a bit more tactful about that. [A small incline of the head.] But that's incredibly strange, then. Not only can they grab people from different places, but different times entirely as well...
explosivecombat: (I haven't the vaguest where he's gone)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2017-09-13 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
That certainly does seem to be the case. I don't imagine you have anything a hundred years out that's capable of such a thing...?
destage: (UH ♡ I have SEVERAL questions)

[personal profile] destage 2017-09-13 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
No, sadly, not at all. I mean we have...cars, airplanes, space ships and buildings that are trying to touch the sky? But absolutely nothing that messes with time itself. I don't even think that's a priority, despite all the movies about it...
explosivecombat: (A sexy revolution!)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2017-09-13 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Ships that are capable of going into space, really? We do have cars, though they're primarily used by ranking officials within the government and those that can afford them. And we do have trains... Otherwise, horses are still a primary means of transportation, generally.
destage: (CHATTER ♡ Pleasant days)

[personal profile] destage 2017-09-13 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes! I think that was within the last...thirty, forty years or so? They have all of these satellites now that go into space and take pictures of various planets, or even some of the moons of those planets. There's some orbiting around earth, too--they send people into space to repair those sometimes, but people have actually been able to land on the moon before!

[...She was a bit enthusiastic, let's dial that down--]

We still have trains too, but horses...I don't believe I've really ever seen any of those around anymore unless they're for some kind of ride attraction. I assume they must be very reliable for you all.
explosivecombat: (And what have we here?)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2017-09-13 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
They are, as much as animals can be - though apparently technology is going to be fascinating over the next fifty years, should we follow a similar trajectory...

How has your automail progression been, if you still use it...?
destage: (AH ♡ Well that's kind of)

[personal profile] destage 2017-09-13 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
...It's probably obsolete, but I'm...afraid I've never heard of automail before. Is it like a mail carrying service? Maybe like E-mails?

[...nailed it]
explosivecombat: (I like the way you think)

[personal profile] explosivecombat 2017-09-13 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Oh... No, no, we have a courier service that works well enough. Automail was originally motorized battle armor, but it eventually became advanced enough to be used as prosthetic body parts. They attach to your nerves and are fully functional, to say nothing of highly durable - outside of requiring maintenance, they're almost better than normal limbs.

[...So yeah, they have fully functional cyborg limbs in 1915.]
