Week 5.

WEEK 5 Two more are gone this week. Luna and Chie Hori have joined those who are present only in memory now, and their passing seems to have left a lot of emotions raw and exposed. But as usual, the group has at least a little bit of time to recover. Saturday can be dedicated to rest and sleep; on Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock. The stairwells are clear of bodies; there's no more death to be dealt with for the time being. Unless, of course, you happened to recover something particularly unfortunate in your dreams... Once again, there's a new floor to explore; your reward for doing your job well. And since you've survived for a month now, you are doing your job well. However, the new floor isn't the only thing that's changed; there are a few things about the building that seem a little...off. A few things that weren't there before might be, or a few things that should be there aren't; you'll just have to see what the week brings, won't you? That is, if you're not going to be investigating all the goings-on personally... PARTICIPANTS REMAINING: 21

Ah, hello. [Elise looks up from the violin she's tuning.] I didn't know you... played...?

[housenurse]

I don't play anything! [idly plucks at the strings] But, even if I don't, it still sounds so nice, doesn't it?

[announcemyvictory]

I suppose, though it's certainly better if you know what you're doing. I've spent quite some time on this... do you know how to do any scales, at least?

[housenurse]

I don't see what weight has to do with anything...

Not that sort! A scale. [Have a C-scale courtesy of the violin.] Going up and down is the simplest way to put it, but a scale is a full octave's range of whatever key you happen to be using and... none of that made a bit of sense to you, did it.

[housenurse]

Not even a little bit!

[announcemyvictory]

[sigh] All right. It's a set of notes organized by their pitch, generally going from one note to the higher version of it on the next octave up. Like I did with my basic C... let's try this again. [She plays it again slowly, like that will do anything.] Like that.

[housenurse]

[glazed eyes]

... It's very pretty, Elise-chan!

...oh, honestly. [Shakes head and sighs.] Well, aside from experimenting, what else have you found?

[housenurse]

Ah, nothing much. I don't really go around exploring like everyone else does!

... The art room is really nice, though.

[announcemyvictory]

You don't? I thought that everybody wanted to escape. Even though I suppose we haven't made much headway as it is.

[housenurse]

I'm not a very heroic, adventurous type of person! I figure if anybody finds a way out, they'll come and tell me! [such is the life of a minor character.]

I'd thought that too, but then I thought someone would come rescue us the first day.

[housenurse]

... I did, too. I don't think that anymore.

We're gonna have to save ourselves, Elise-chan! Luckily we still have some heroes here, who can do that sort of thing!

[announcemyvictory]

I do hope we can all get out soon so we won't have to go through any more of this.

[housenurse]

Maybe if we keep saying it, week after week, it'll finally happen.

[slowly dying inside]

Oh, there's got to be something we can do besides sit and wait. Otherwise, what would be the point?

[housenurse]

Maybe there isn't a point at all! Not everything needs one.

[announcemyvictory]

But then what are we supposed to do with that?

[housenurse]

... I don't know! I wonder if we'll ever find out...

Surely there's something. I just don't know what.

[housenurse]

Maybe you'll be the one to find out, Elise-chan! You seem like the type of girl to do heroic things. [she's a snobby teenage girl that's practically a guaranteed role in an anime]

I don't think so. ...But of course you'd think that! I've got to set a good example, after all! Ohohoho~! [hey she's old enough to drink]
