Week 5.
Two more are gone this week. Luna and Chie Hori have joined those who are present only in memory now, and their passing seems to have left a lot of emotions raw and exposed. But as usual, the group has at least a little bit of time to recover. Saturday can be dedicated to rest and sleep; on Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock. The stairwells are clear of bodies; there's no more death to be dealt with for the time being. Unless, of course, you happened to recover something particularly unfortunate in your dreams... Once again, there's a new floor to explore; your reward for doing your job well. And since you've survived for a month now, you are doing your job well. However, the new floor isn't the only thing that's changed; there are a few things about the building that seem a little...off. A few things that weren't there before might be, or a few things that should be there aren't; you'll just have to see what the week brings, won't you? That is, if you're not going to be investigating all the goings-on personally... |
SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY
[OOC: Welcome to week five of Trustfell! Save your threads for coins and the coming week's activity check; don't forget to check in to this week's activity check and submit your memory regains as well!
The Letters and Switchboard posts are still active to be used at your leisure, for the sake of contacting the jerk who's keeping you here!]
SUNDAY

The entire day, Mordecai is holding onto himself tightly as he shuffles through the hallways towards the stairs. Every time someone walks near him, he jerks his head as if they were trying to get the jump on him, but catches himself before he can freak out. It's back to staying small and being careful of his surroundings.
"Murder!" "Murder!" "Murder!" "Murder!"
He's stuck here, isn't he? Trapped with twenty other people, all driven to murder, but this time, this building isn't the hotel he designed.
"Now don't worry, all the rooms have a panic closet. The door's thicker than a bank vault. It's electro-locked and hypermagnetized: we're safe in here--"
"I'm in your system. I'm hacking it."
He needs to work on the emergency stockpile in his room, and he has to check on Marty and Jean to see if they've been keeping up on that. They have to stay safe, too, he reminds himself as he climbs up to the fourth floor.
"Darlin', you know you're my hero."
"Thought that there wasn't gonna be no trouble in your new place."
That's the last conversation he remembers he had with Harriet, and he won't be so lucky this time: no one is going to rescue him in just as he's surrounded. They might kill each other before they find a way out.
He stops on the third floor stairwell. He can't die. He can't die. He has to do something.] Come on, Barkeep. You can do it. Just one day, and you can go back to your room and be safe.
[Resolve renewed, he reaches the bar to comb through the shelves, running his fingers along the wall in search for a secret compartment, anything hidden from plain sight. And all the while, he checks the doorways in case someone happens to walk in without his noticing.]

By the time the early afternoon has rolled around, Jean has moved on to the bar. He's not much of a drinker by habit, and the taps, bottles, and cans offered up by the bar are all foreign to him. Despite that, he's not above poking around in search of something to drink. He just needs to decide and get out before any fussy adults get on his case about it - which means he's sure to give a guilty start if anyone interrupts him.
Regardless, it's not long before Jean moves on to the art storage room. He is (what else?) putting the room in absolute disarray by rummaging through the various boxes. Right now he seems especially interested in the razor wire and palette knifes. These are kind of dangerous, aren't they?
And of course, he can also be found systematically pulling down boxes and checking behind them in search of any more hidden journals or sketchbooks or mysterious switches. ]

She emerges from the sewing room and starts to explore the new floor in this monstrosity, or a pretty close approximation to it, because Chie sketched the god awful thing for her and she held off a little too long on making it but now it's here and apparently she's going to remember her by wearing this stupid ensemble her friend wears today.
Blue leaves a note on the fridge in the kitchen before heading upstairs; looks like she's decided to push up her sleeves and spend some time painting in the art studio today, because you know, today is a day where she just does things, apparently, and part of doing things is aggressively painting some landscape.
There's a tower in her landscape, and the entire place is forested and filled with bright autumn leaves. It's not the prettiest thing, but it definitely gets an image across, and she even adds some huge bird on top of the tower, with rainbow colored feathers.
And then before the thing dries she starts to tear it all up; she's not sure what this really accomplished but there's something therapeutic about the process nonetheless.
...Blue's doing well today, it seems.]
NOTE IN THE KITCHEN
[We can handwave the measurement taking; she will be mostly chill about it unless you're Dio (because sorry son if you want some more pants for your shirtless brigade she will giggle obnoxiously the entire time.)]

It takes Logan longer to get out of his room this morning, but when he does he looks more irritated than usual. Ashley's scarf is gone for the time being, and whenever Logan isn't doing something with his hands he can be found adjusting the sash across his chest, because apparently he's feeling very fidgety today.
His first stop is the new floor. While the art studio doesn't hold his interest for very long the music room is a different story. He can't play anything other than the piano, so he'll immediately move to play for a little while, just to have something to do. He has to remove his gloves and gauntlets to play, and the scars on the backs of his hands are still visible. He doesn't pay them any mind before starting to play something simple to warm up. He'll spend a good amount of the day in here, venting his frustrations out on the music.
In the evening he can be found in the dojo. Logan has one of those swords from the machine with him and it looks like he's practicing against an invisible opponent. He's surprisingly quick on his feet and isn't hindered at all by his outfit. He'll be in here until he tires himself out long after the clock chimes at 10PM. He's rusty, since the last time he really fought was four years ago, but with enough practice he should be able to take on that thing in the pit.
He's not going to make the same mistakes he did four years ago. This time he'll be prepared.]

She doesn't belong here, and she's in far too deep to escape.
Elise goes to explore the new floor first thing in the morning. The music room catches her attention, and she curiously picks up a violin and dusts it off. She might spend a while playing in there.
Later, she'll be down in the library, because there always seems to be something in there, and then check on the chickens because seriously you guys have to be responsible pet owners.]

[Dio awoke Sunday evening feeling quite satisfied, thank you very much. Even if his memories were in disarray and he had no way of placing what happened when, he knew that one was worth remembering.]
[So ignoring the possibility of anything to do with a shirt, he went wandering around the building in a fairly decent mood. Some time was spent in the foyer, back to focusing on the clock with a surprising level of concentration. It halfway looked like he expected it to do something, or was at least in deep thought about the possibility. Later in the night would find him in the dojo or the library, shadow boxing or writing in his journal respectively as seemed to be his current habits.]

His grades might suck and he's not Albert Einstein, but he wouldn't lie: he can play guitar damn good. It's something he's passionate about, like nothing else in the world matters more or less. Maybe life here could be a little better as long as he can get his hands on something instrumental. Like the drums or maybe...
-a guitar. When Marty walks in it's right there, smiling at him. If guitars could smile.
He doesn't waste a second. Marty picks it up and plugs it in, jamming in the wildest way an 80's teenager could. ]

And unbidden, a memory surfaced that he would have liked to forget entirely:
I never asked you to save me! ... Don't you dare mock me!!
"That damned nerd... who the hell cares?! All his stupid speeches ... And you! Your family? Your damned feelings? Who cares?! Come at me with your left side. Go on. I'll crush those flames like I do everything else."
...
He can't get it off of his mind now. The way that Midoriya had looked at him when he had said, you looked like you needed saving, the way that Midoriya had looked down on him, pitied him —
It's been five weeks now. Bakugou doesn't know what to make of a lot of things he'd taken as given for so long.
In the late morning, Bakugou can be found in the dojo making a complete embarrassment of himself. It doesn't take much experience to see that whatever it is he's doing (.....punching things repeatedly, for the most part) to vent his frustration is more liable to just bruise up his knuckles and scrape them up to the point of bleeding, if he goes for long enough. God damn look at this shonen go.
Later in the afternoon, when he's done being a huge masochist, he hunkers down in the library, staring hard at nothing in particular. If anybody walks into his field of sight, his gaze will flicker over to that person for a few moments before going back to having a glaring contest with the air.
Looks like he wants to really live up to his title today. ]

She starts in the incinerator's room again, this time making sure she burns How to Write a Murder Mystery before anyone gets any more bright ideas about poisons or how to set up a crime scene. She's done some reading through it herself to see if she can't help more at trials, but she can't imagine it being used for anything good.
After that, she can be found in the kitchen taking stock of ingredients with Dorika (as per usual) on the floor next to her. The hen occasionally receives a few scraps of something while Hibiki sets aside a few ingredients. It doesn't look like she's planning on cooking something, more like she's trying to take stock of ingredients.
She'll stop briefly in the stage, but she'll linger a moment longer in the art rooms. It doesn't hurt to get a good look at everything. She likes to draw and can draw a decent cartoon hamster, so she'll be grabbing a sketchpad and attempting to doodle while she's in there.
But about an hour before night bells go off, she can be found in the music room. On the stage next to her is a cream-colored iPod in a bowl, and it's playing some amplified, wordless pop tracks. Maybe more of note is that, for the first time, Hibiki is running through an entire dance routine. It starts out with her in the center, and then quickly becomes energetic, filled with moving across the stage, jumping, clapping. It ends with her in the center, her moves simpler as she serenades the imaginary audience.
If someone interrupts her at the right time, they might even catch her rapping. What fun.]

She almost didn't wake up, but after last week, this was just what she needed.
Did she have a home? Apparently so. But where was it? Who did she know? Well, she had to get out of here and find out.
She couldn't forget herself going after Reki. Doing... something for her. To help her.
That's what Rakka was thinking about, most of the day. The kitchen is where she's spending most of her morning, apparently planning to make... something. She's got a few things set out, eggs, oil, and a frying pan among them. And she's looking it all over quizzically.
The desire to make something was there. A shame none of the cooking skills were, and Rakak doesn't like the idea of accidentally burning the kitchen down...
The mail room is where she ultimately ends up today, sitting down at that old desk and pulling out a few sheets of paper. Rakka apparently has something she needs to get down on paper... even if it takes her several hours. Time will pass, letters are attempted, crumpled into balls or torn up. She's sitting there until an hour before the evening bells, apparently deep in thought as she tapped her pencil against the desk.]

"No."
When Morty woke up this morning, he woke... confused. That dream - that memory he had last night... it was weird. It answered some questions, like why he had woken up in a messed up suit when he first got here so long ago, but it also left a lot more questions to be asked.
He tries to push them to the back of his mind for now and explore, but he seems a little lost, he's spacing out a lot more than usual.
He starts off in the kitchen, looking for something to eat. Though Morty's not much of a cook, and nothing really looks good to eat at the moment. But he'll hover around for a while, looking ingredients over and thinking about making pancakes or something.
After breakfast, he can be found in the new music room, kind of plunking at the piano a little. He... probably shouldn't quit his day job, because his piano plunking sounds awful. Not that he's really trying to play anything but still. Jeez, Morty. You could at least have a sense of timing.
Finally, he'll be found just kind of sitting at the bottom of the staircase leading up towards the fourth floor. He's sitting to the side so he's not in the way, but he looks deep in thought which is quite an odd thing to see the little guy in. He tried to ignore it but in the end, he just can't stop thinking about that memory. There was something he didn't understand - but he wasn't sure how to even approach it.]

"I'll add you later. That'll be a start."
[Susan seems lost in thought Sunday morning. She sits in the dining room, staring into the shadowed corners with a rapidly-cooling cup of coffee sitting in front her her.
She's made some commitments, of course, so she can't stay there forever. The infirmary inventory should be kept up, and she's probably the best person to do it. She can be found going through everything in there, noting it all down on a pad.
Upon discovering the fifth floor, Susan makes some trips up and down the stairs, carrying an easel, some canvas, and finally some paints through the hallways. It's been over a decade since she painted anything, but it's been about that long since she's done most of the things she's gotten up to around here. Maybe the mood will strike her sometime in the night? Even if it never does, that's one less palette knife lying around in the open.]

Waking up from that, Cabanela doesn't feel anything Sunday morning. All he feels is an unsettling numbness,-- but people are counting on him. He can't give up, not now. Not ever. He has to live for these people, and for everyone who might be counting on him.
Even so, the inspector is noticeably despondent today.
He'll be spending a fair bit of time in the art room today, though it doesn't look like the inspector is actually all that interested in painting-- he's mostly looking very contemplative at the paints and canvases.
Later on, he can be found playing pool in the billiards hall, and in the evening, he'll be in the bar drinking off by himself, as opposed to being a busybody for once.]

The first memory had definitely been the worst, that was for sure... in any case, it was a new week, which meant a new set of floors to look over. Unfortunately, this set... isn't as tailored to Giovanni's interests as the bar, gaming room, and pool hall. It's... well, he can imagine that people would like it, but all the same...
Well, maybe the art room would get some use, he supposed. He did intend to kill two Pidgey with one Rock Throw later on, after all. For now, though... well... erm... time to figure out a way to spend the day, then.
Well, first off, he'll be down in the chicken's pen in the afternoon, where he'll be attempting to... throw wadded up paper balls at them? Well, no, that's not entirely right. First, he throws some at Beedrill, who bounces them back to their trainer. Then he gently throws a paper ball at a very confused chicken, who clucks a bit as it bounces off and then... sort of pecks at it.
...what the hell even are normal animals.
Well, when that proves to be a bust, he heads up to the game room, where he begins by shuffling a deck of cards and then sets them aside. Really, what his primary focus is happens to be the letter to Ashley he found in the foyer two investigations ago. Admittedly, it was a bit late... but then again, they'd all been kind of distracted in the aftermath of Asuka's execution. He's still up for a game, of course, but he might be up for a little discussion, too.
Finally, shortly before the mail room closes, he's in there writing a letter to the Conductor. Of course, he's also attempting another bit of, haha, bugging, haha. As he writes the letter, he surreptitiously drops Beedrill's Pokeball under the writing desk. It's not a very good vantage point, granted, but if it's Dio again... well... he has very distinctive shoes. Let's... put it that way.]

actually because Asuka had given her back the Nudist Beach outfit and it just made her sad now.today, she's mostly in the art room, using colored pencils to sketch out little pictures of her family. unfortunately, drawing is not a skill necessary for being a housewife, so she's actually pretty bad at it. they're nothing more than vague human shapes with a few distinguishing features on them-- hair, glasses, clothes-- but... it makes her feel better, anyway.
she's also going to poke around the music room. music is yet another thing housewives don't need to do. but, sitting at the harp and strumming it and pretending she's fancy is p fun and distracts her well enough, so she's doing that.]

"You'll be dead weight."
"How blunt! Well, those two have a bad habit of leaping before they look. They need to realize that there are people who worry about them!"
"..."
"...I'll go."
"Huh?"
"I'm not exactly a stranger to the Minamoto clan. And I'm definitely not interested in letting that particular piece of history repeat itself. No thank you." ]
[ That morning there's a new addition taped over wherever everyone's been sticking their notes and surveys. ]
For trade:
- Caterpillar toy
- Block thing? Funny shaped.
- Doll. It's incredibly high quality! The head's made out of porcelain, I can tell!
If you're interested, find me. I always eat breakfast soon after the kitchen opens in the mornings, if you're not sure where to look.
I haven't used the machine very much, so I'm not looking for anything in particular.
- Youko
[ The second order of the day is investigating that new floor. Youko doesn't stay in the Art Studio or Art Storage Room long, but the Music Room is successful at holding her attention. She's not leaving until she's tried every instrument there. It'll be clear to any passers by that she knows how to play none of them.
"-those two have a bad habit of leaping before they look. They need to realize that there are people who worry about them!"
"You'll be dead weight."
She has some things on her mind she'd rather forget.
All the new sights and sounds can't keep her occupied forever however, so eventually after a quick stop by her room to pick something up, Youko makes her way back up to the Sewing Room. Her sewing ability was limited to mending simple tears, but she had time and incentive to learn, so - why not? It would be nice to have more than two things to wear. That being said, Youko's realized starting with the maid dress she wants to modify may not be the best idea, and she spends a good deal of time practicing technique with larger and larger cloth scraps before she moves on to extending the skirt of the dress.
"You'll be dead weight."
"-They need to realize that there are people who worry about them!"
When sewing becomes familiar enough that she no longer has to give it her undivided attention, Youko goes back down the stairs for dinner after another brief visit to her room. It's not "night-time" yet, but it's getting closer. All the same - her mind is still buzzing, but rather than hit the bar once she's done eating, Youko does something different.
Specifically, she goes to the Shooting Range, taking the (empty) gun that killed Ashley out of her sleeve once she's there. Reloading the chamber is a simple enough affair.
Firing is not.
It doesn't matter how many times she invokes the winged man's words, or thinks of the people here - Youko takes aim, but she can't pull her finger down on the trigger.
"You'll be dead weight."
Except that had never mattered before.
"-They need to realize that there are people who worry about them!"
She raises the gun for the umpteenth time that night and for the umpteenth time that night, no shot is fired.
Maybe using a murder weapon had been ill-advised. ]
