it's not unusual to have fun with anyone
[ The ballroom's a little swanky for a simple get-together like this, but...
Well, actually, judging by what you see when you come in at the appointed time (or even before that, but Aligula'll be huffy if you do!?), what was advertised is not exactly what's going on. Continuing her war on paper, Aligula's put up origami hearts (or her attempts at them; she got better as she figured out what she was doing, but they're not the best) pretty much everywhere. There's also sheets taped to every wall with encouraging things in her curly-cute script like GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER! and FIND A PARTNER! and WELCOME TO SPEED-DATING!
...Yeah, welcome to speed-dating.
There's a lot of chairs paired together, presumably for the whole "partnering up" thing, and everyone anywhere near the ballroom will be getting a sheet of questions titled SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS. There at least seems to be food like she promised? At least... there's signs pointing to the dining room across the wall to suggest it, and entering the dining room gets you hot chocolate (and water, if you're boring, as well treating you to the sight of a parfait bar, with various cups and glasses to stand in for actual parfait glasses. There's also things for making sandwiches—she pretty much grabbed whatever she could think of from the fridge and such—and of course, plates and utensils and etc.
And if none of that's appetizing then, like, kitchen's not that far, go make something yourself. She put a lot of work into this whole thing but especially the parfait bar because she loves parfait and everyone can have fun making those.
If you don't think your character would've come without a little help, don't worry; even if Aligula can't bodily drag everyone, she sure can bother them aggressively until they come just to get her to leave them alone. All in all, don't sweat the small stuff and have a good time getting to know each other! Or go sulk and play the piano, whatever. ]

Ah, that's wonderful, Marker-san! Would you be willing to tell the story of what happened? I'd absolutely love to hear it!

Cups a hand on her cheek and she - blushes? She blushes, and then sighs in a very dreamy way. And she begins to rock in place, giggling a little. This grown ass woman is now, fragrantly, shameless, publicly swooning in front of Sayaka ]
Oh I'd loooove to, girl! Ah, I can still remember every second of it. It was shortly after we all arrived in Japan - everyone went their different ways, but James stayed alongside me. Ah, the poor man - I was still being so difficult to him back then, so convinced was I that his interests were more with my father or with pretty little Cecelia or something, but he toughed it out, remaining by my side like the diligent gentleman he is.
One night, I was looking up at the stars... did you know, the stars in Japan are almost like someone held a mirror to the sky as compared to the stars of France? I couldn't pinpoint any of them. Honestly, I was lonely - and then, just as I was thinking that, he appeared. He came up behind me, brushing my skin, and he whispered to me, "Would you let me stay with you forever?"
Oh, I was so flustered! Once, twice I denied him - three more times, I accused him of asking me out of pity or guilt, or that he liked Cecilia more. Oh, that roguish man, by the end, he asked me a question that cornered me: if I disliked him. I could say nothing to that, and he praised my face, my big eyes, my long hair... and you know what the man did next?!
[ She claps her hands together, looking closer to Sayaka, starry-eyed ]
He took my hair in hand and he kissed it!

It's exactly like one of her romance novels. Like, somewhere in Sayaka's mind she knows she shouldn't think like that, because this is a real person with a real romance and the like, but...her eyes are practically sparkling as she listens and imagines the scenario, just so happy to kind of imagine it through Elda's eyes.
Love is such a wonderful thing, isn't it?]
Oh...oh, Marker-san, I'm so happy for you! That you were able to find such wonderful love with him, and that he treated you so kindly...your hair looks so lovely, so a gestured like that must have meant the world and more to you! He really knew how to treat you like a princess, from the sound of it!
[...SHE'S NOT EXACTLY MUCH BETTER HERE, THERE IS SHOUJO SPARKLES EVERYWHERE AT THIS POINT, JESUS CHRIST--]
I'd love to hear more if you're willing to share! Did you travel the globe with him and see every sight there was to see? And your family, too--you two must have had lovely children as well, right?
no subject
Oh, not the whole world, but like I said, we did journey by boat across the world to get to Japan! That said, with him, we must've traveled every little inch of those islands before she settled in Shihaba, and since then we've gone out and seen several more locations until we had our son. It was quite the time, let me tell you.
Ah, but our son... we only had the one, but he really was a beautiful boy, Henry. Tall and broad-shouldered like his father, we made sure to raise him right - a proper gentleman, you know?! He's actually probably too kind for his own good, but that's a good character flaw for a man to have, when it comes down to it. He's grown now, and he'd given me three more grandchildren to boot!

The bit about the grandchildren gets Sayaka's interest--she mentioned them before, but in the interest of keeping That Memory down--]
Ah, they must be super adorable! Can you tell me what they're all like? He must have taught them very well, especially after being raised so well by you two!
[It's nice to imagine a big, happy family whose all there for each other.]

[ Heeee. ]
First up, there's Ren. He's... golly, I suppose he's twenty-one these days! He's rough around the edges right now, but for men, being a little bit rugged when they're young builds character for later in life. Still, he's such a handsome young man - I bet you'd be swooning if you met him! [ EVIL. LAUGH. OLD LADY. ] Still, he's a nice, diligent son - always comes home and checks in on his folks.
Mmm, then there's Karin. She's a late bloomer, really... Well, in a lot of ways? It's weird- her figure's even more vavoom than yours is, even though she's only sixteen! But she's also shy and a little bit too gentle for her own good. But she's a real chip off the old block, the spitting image of me! [ . . . Clearly not in the figure way given Elda is a an 88 pound flat waif, but. ] She's really fun to play with, actually!
Aaaand, then we've got little Anju. Only eleven, but she's a real good girl. you might even call her a prodigy! She excels in all sorts of abilities, even if she's a little on the frail side. A bit quiet too, now I think of it... but that helps with the fact she looks like a real, living doll.

What a lovely bunch...they all sound like they've grown up or are growing up rather wonderfully. I definitely bet I'd like all of them if I got the chance to meet him--Ren-san sounds like a very dedicated person, and Karin-chan and Anju-chan sound like absolute sweethearts!

[ Wait what. ]

[LIKE KARIN SOUNDS ADORABLE AS FUCK BUT HOLY SHIT?]

[ She kind of only just met anju and Karin not all that long ago so she doesn't know all the details, but. ]
