innocentloveholic: to see you (16. holding hands with your heart)
Aligula 「 queen of monomania 」 ([personal profile] innocentloveholic) wrote in [community profile] trustfell2017-09-13 12:43 pm

it's not unusual to have fun with anyone

[ The ballroom's a little swanky for a simple get-together like this, but...

Well, actually, judging by what you see when you come in at the appointed time (or even before that, but Aligula'll be huffy if you do!?), what was advertised is not exactly what's going on. Continuing her war on paper, Aligula's put up origami hearts (or her attempts at them; she got better as she figured out what she was doing, but they're not the best) pretty much everywhere. There's also sheets taped to every wall with encouraging things in her curly-cute script like GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER! and FIND A PARTNER! and WELCOME TO SPEED-DATING!

...Yeah, welcome to speed-dating.

There's a lot of chairs paired together, presumably for the whole "partnering up" thing, and everyone anywhere near the ballroom will be getting a sheet of questions titled SUGGESTED TALKING POINTS. There at least seems to be food like she promised? At least... there's signs pointing to the dining room across the wall to suggest it, and entering the dining room gets you hot chocolate (and water, if you're boring, as well treating you to the sight of a parfait bar, with various cups and glasses to stand in for actual parfait glasses. There's also things for making sandwiches—she pretty much grabbed whatever she could think of from the fridge and such—and of course, plates and utensils and etc.

And if none of that's appetizing then, like, kitchen's not that far, go make something yourself. She put a lot of work into this whole thing but especially the parfait bar because she loves parfait and everyone can have fun making those.

If you don't think your character would've come without a little help, don't worry; even if Aligula can't bodily drag everyone, she sure can bother them aggressively until they come just to get her to leave them alone. All in all, don't sweat the small stuff and have a good time getting to know each other! Or go sulk and play the piano, whatever. ]

Oh, believe me, I'm going to have at least twenty of these before the party is over. [ This is not the face of somebody who is exaggerating. ]

But they're better when they're bigger.

Well, I suppose there is something to be said for having more layers to go through in one parfait. That's likely a problem with resources rather than the host's decision, though.

Unfortunate, isn't it? [ Give her big parfait glasses or give her death -- okay, no. Don't give her death. She pauses to take a look at the question sheet. She isn't interesting in dating the guy, but the questions are fun. ]

What is your favorite season and why?
bloodisthicker: could have bloodbended you all but i didn't (god i'm such a great guy)

It certainly is. If only there were vases you could eat out of.

...and I think Waterbenders are practically all partial to winter, though I'll admit I like that border between late fall and early winter the best. There's always something really special about the first snow of the season, especially when you're far south enough that the snow isn't constant.

The first snow is such a beautiful thing. Winters are pretty mild and we don't get much snow where I'm from, but there's something about the first snow that brightens up my day when it finally comes.

Yes, winters are reasonably mild in Republic City, as well... which is a pretty far cry from where I grew up. Honestly, I prefer the new snows in Republic City to the constant snow at the North Pole, since it actually feels like a change of pace instead of more of the same.

...You're from the North Pole?

Yes...? It's a harsh place to live, but we make do.

Oh. We've got people who live really far up north where I'm from too, so it's not too strange to me... still, I can't really imagine living in a cold place like that. What's it like, living on the North Pole?
bloodisthicker: in your dreams, tarrlok... (my best lord vetinari impression)

Well, we lived fairly near the coast, as does practically everyone, honestly. Most people living up there rely on the sea for food, though where I grew up, there were some fairly good hunting grounds nearby, so we had more of a mixed diet.

It was definitely harsh living, though. Even experienced waterbenders could have difficulty dealing with some of the worst blizzards. Of course, things are safer on that front in the capital city, but it's still somewhere you don't want to go if you hate the cold.
