[Well...that trial was most certainly a thing, now wasn't it.

It's probably a while after the trial that some notes will be going underneath people's doors, written in a nice, clean scrawl--]

[ Probably the latest Aligula intends to be out is when Elda comes upon this scene. She had no intention to go back to the dorms until like 3AM or so, but if Aligula would have gone to bed before then, then she could be going back sooner for a brush.

Crouches down to pick up one of the drawings. ]

[ Because I'm cute and cheeky, it's this one! Congratulations on your cyclopsbat.

Aligula's sort of finishing up here by that time, satisfied with her night of drawing and also realizing belatedly that it's kind of really late, and she like... stops..... for a second? To stare at Elda?? Before she shuffles her other papers and goes back to sitting on the ground, her room is like right there anyway she can move whenever she wants. ]

Isn't it totally cute?

[ She tilts it. maybe she's looking at it upside down?

It's a cyclopsbat! [ really. simply named. ] They're like... Cat-sized, I guess? And super soft and squishy!

Huh! ... I'm not sure how about that one eye I am, but it actually looks like it might be pretty cute in person.

[ Okay, so if that's a bat, that means this way is right side up? She looks at it and nods to herself. and then passes it back towards aligula. ]

[ Thank you!! She'll shuffle it back among her other ones and give a little yawn, but she's not... gonna leave Elda here without more conversation, she actually enjoys her. ]

It's super cute in person. Not as cute as the one I gave Ambitious earlier, buuut... totally super cute. [ The other one is the cutest??? THE CUTEST. She loves it. ] Do you have anything like it back where you're from, or is it like, totally boring normalsville?

We don't have any cyclops bats, but there's dozens of species of bats out there, all with different traits and abilities.

[ ... So that's a no? Maybe? Who knows. ]

Oh, sure!

[ ... Maybe??? ]

Well, the ones we have at the manor are usually the carnivorous sort- sturdy but quick and they'd usually be eating frogs or fish in the wild. We actually have a specialized jerky that we developed to feed them and help motivate them to assist in things. Now, the biggest and strongest bats are actually the ones that eat fruit! They're a hassle to maintain as far north as we are, but we do keep several around to make it easier to fly with a big swarm. So-called "vampire" bats are actually pretty small in general. They're not useful for much other than recon, but ... well, we've got well trained bats for a variety of types, my little granddaughter's even gotten several willing to be out during the day.

It's weird that the fruit ones are the strongest though. I totally thought the meat munchers would be, since predators tend to be pretty fierce.

It is a little weird until you think more on it. Something that's hunting and flying needs to be more nimble, plus there's always less they're going to be able to catch. Because the biggest ones are eating fruit and nectar they can eat with impunity and then their size scares off a lot of smaller predators.

[ A nod. ]

The biggest ones actually look a bit like winged foxes, actually.

Winged foxes... They sound sooo super cute! Can you draw one?

[ Here let her just—Elda can have a marker and the backside of that paper that Aligula has her skeleton on. ]

Oh gosh, you don't have a pen...?

[ Oh well, she can make due with a marker. It's rougher than her usual impeccable sketching but probably more anatomically accurate than most of Aligula's work, but she quickly enough begins to create this. In marker sketch form ]

It reminds me kinda of a red panda bat! They're super cute too!! I've always wanted one, but like, I totally don't have the time to take care of one...

People combine pandas and bats now?!

[ She says this with some surprise as she's making more touches to this sketch. I guess she's the sort of edit past the point it's basically done ]

Buuut yeah, sorta. The city's super busy, and I go parties a lot, and I work on plans to get my sweetie back... And sometimes I help my associates, if they're promising me something that's totally worth it.

A little of both, though "buddies" sound like... too buddy-buddy. We just hang out and do favors for each other if it's fun enough, ooor if they owe us one or whatever.

We do whatever we want in the city though! Law enforcement's waaay too slow to handle any of us. [ THE HLCPD DOES IT BEST. ] But then there's that stupid dumb group that comes swinging in and ruining it all the time..! Even though it's totally funny to see Femt's face when they mess up his plans.

Seems a bit intense to give everyone titles but I'm not sure I get it here either.

I couldn't tell you about here, but we did it because it's just... fun, and having a title like "Queen of Monomania" or "King of Depravity" sounds totally cool, right?

I mean, Monomania has a ring to it, but Depravity just sounds kind of gauche if you ask me.

Man, that's not what you'd expect out of Depravity. Maybe more Cunning or ... Iunno, Duplicitousness?
