WEEK 2.

WEEK 2

Two people are dead. Jean Kirstein and Caren have both died due to a tragic accident. Of course, you're not entirely innocent, are you? You voted, you played into this game the Coordinators are running. But you know the stakes now. You know what failure to complete Rule Seven really means.

No more excuses from here on out.

Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost...

Of course, exploring the building from here on will reveal something new: namely, a stairwell in the northeastern corner, leading upwards toward a new floor entirely. Another sign of how things are going to progress around here, maybe; chances are you'll enjoy what you've been given, but was it worth the lives of two people to obtain?

Yeah, I was considering forcing people to act out something for me.

[ ... When did she get there? It's freaky how silent Elda's footsteps can be., ]

[Kyrie is actually startled. She almost drops her book, but when she realizes it's Elda, she laughs, relieved]

That was some impressive stealth.

[But since you're here and you said that may as well ask?]

Act out something like what, exactly? Did you have an idea in mind already?
matchbreaker: (Hell Cat!)

[personal profile] matchbreaker 2017-09-18 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[ She nods at the stealth. Oh yeah, still got it! Even if she does have her strength and such reduced, she can move quietly. But with a smirk she... ]

I don't know, maybe some old stories? Zarovich or Bathory or the like.

[Kyrie looks up from her book, unsure]

Zarovich...that author doesn't sound familiar. I have heard of a Bathory, but she isn't known for writing anything.

[She's known for those ridiculous rumors about her being a vampire. She may have been a brutal woman back in her time, but a vampire? Hah! Impossible]

... I guess Zarovich's more of a bedtime story for va-- my people and all. [ She shrugs, admitting some defeat there and sighing with a shake of her head ] I meant more their life stories or stories about them in the first place.

[personal profile] chessturner 2017-09-18 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh? You're interested in vampires?

[Kyrie stands up and browses the nearest bookshelf. There may be a book about vampires, may as well try to see why Elda's so interested in their lives]
matchbreaker: (And you'll become a legend!)

[personal profile] matchbreaker 2017-09-18 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
-Something like that?! I mean, my family's English, but there's far off Romanian routes on one side. I learned the legends from my mother, honestly.

[ . . . Eeeeh. Saved it!

Maybe! ]

[Apparently you did! It doesn't seem Kyrie suspects anything]

It's good you like legends and that kind of stories. The past is always essential for everyone.

[Oh hey, there's a promising book here: 'Infamous Lady:The True Story of Countess Erzsébet Báthory' Kyrie seems pleased, opening the book]

I only remember this woman's name. I don't know what exactly her life was like, but I--[Her voice trails off the more she reads of the prologue. Well! Bathory sure was a rather bloody and prolific killer] ...that's...quite the story.

Thee's a few different stories out there, about her motivations or her story. ... She doesn't usually come out the most pleasant sounding though, no.

[ ... Oh, that sure was a reaction. If Elda wasn't short she might've tried to sneak in and look it over. as is, she just sort of keeps crouched here. ]

[Kyrie chuckles a bit nervously, somewhat in disbelief at what she's reading. Oh my goodness, this is some strong stuff!]

That's an understatement! I can see why some people called Bathory a vampire, this is very truculent. It must be because of all the blood-related rumors. For some reason people are very into linking anything about blood to vampires.

[It's a good thing real vampires are nothing like that Bathory woman was, eh?]

[personal profile] matchbreaker 2017-09-20 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
It's silly is what it is, humans have spilled plenty of blood all their own!

[ Of course not! ... Though she might've been one. Elda's legitimately not sure but most people seem to think so even in her community. There's a lot of stories about her. ]

[personal profile] chessturner 2017-09-20 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
That's true!

[Augh, this is too much. You take that book about Bathory if you want, Elda, Kyrie doesn't want to read her bloody exploits anymore. She puts the book on a table]

As a whole humanity doesn't have a good track record when it's about being peaceful, and unfortunately that can't be changed. Case in point: this place.

That means we agree that Jericho and the other woman are human, then?

[ She will, indeed, take the book though, sort of flipping through it. Maybe later she'll read it and compare to those stories from when she was young. After all, she did learn a great number of them. ]

I talked to Alena-san and she seems to be completely human. That Jericho man, though...well, he's likely to be human as well, if there's anything strange with him, it's likely it'll just be powers like many other humans here used to have.

Mmm, I more or less agree. Kimblee's insight that he sounds young an inexperienced also sounds accurate to me. Everything's being done with more pomp than it probably needs to be.

He does sound a bit childishly elated when he speaks -- which is fitting, his profile says he is twenty-one. Grown-up enough to not be a child anymore, young enough to not know much about the world at large.
matchbreaker: (Storm King's Thunder)

[personal profile] matchbreaker 2017-09-20 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah... I didn't know anything of the world by twenty-one. Though, I suppose I have seen some age quicker.

[ She rolls it over on her tongue, flipping the book in her hands. ]

Actually, Ushiromiya, what do you like reading about?
chessturner: (default)

[personal profile] chessturner 2017-09-20 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Suspense and mystery, mostly. I don't mind most genres, but I prefer something that makes me think while I'm reading.

[She feels much more comfortable admitting she's into mystery to Elda than to the other person she had discussed books with. Less risk of someone thinking she's enjoying what's going on.

Because she definitely isn't enjoying this situation at all.]

[ U saying Elda won't judge you?

But that said... ]

Huh! So like Doyle and the like? I could see that being interesting... honestly, I'm not really the most well read person ever... though we do have a huge archive in the manor's basement. We managed to ship some out from Europe.
