WEEK 2.

WEEK 2

Two people are dead. Jean Kirstein and Caren have both died due to a tragic accident. Of course, you're not entirely innocent, are you? You voted, you played into this game the Coordinators are running. But you know the stakes now. You know what failure to complete Rule Seven really means.

No more excuses from here on out.

Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost...

Of course, exploring the building from here on will reveal something new: namely, a stairwell in the northeastern corner, leading upwards toward a new floor entirely. Another sign of how things are going to progress around here, maybe; chances are you'll enjoy what you've been given, but was it worth the lives of two people to obtain?

I mean, that's mixing metaphors at that point. This one's a reminder for us, and even if graves are much the same, it's for a different end than what you just said.

Maybe. I don't think it matters too much. These aren't normal circumstances, no matter how you look at it.

If you ask me that's all the more reason to keep things straight.

[ She tosses the apple in the air, catching it... and sighs. ]

... Well, whatever. Not like they were my kids.

Truuue enough. But they were still young.

[........]

I wish I knew what Hanamura was thinking. He must've known nothing good would come of attacking one of our captors.

I doubt he was thinking. [ . . . That sounds harsh (and it is) but...

She bites her lip, exhales, and then presses on ]

The boy was jittery the whole time. It's likely he's never been exposed to violence the like you and the others [ not her, unfortunately, she's excluding herself given how much time she wasted ] solved at the trial or we all witnessed at the execution. That sort of thing changes a person. The trauma's hard for people who have lived with it for some time to remember. It's entirely possible he just wanted to end that violence.

....You're right. Something was clearly on his mind. Who can blame him? It's been difficult time, even for someone used to seeing preeetty horrific things.

[......]

It was a terrible way to die. I've never seen something so awful.

Me either.

[ She confesses, softly, staring at the newest candle. ]

Not before my eyes.

I'm a police inspector; I've seen... pretty awful things, in the past, but nothing like this.

[He's heard stories of particular grisly murders, but never had to investigate one.]

It makes me wonder how the hell something like that is possible.

[personal profile] matchbreaker 2017-09-19 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
[ How? Well, that's both obvious and really annoying because, ]

Some sort of magic, right? A handful of people here can do it normally, so if they can shut it down, they must be able to do it themselves.

Magic?

[He seems to consider this for a moment.]

That's certainly a possibility. Completely out of my realm of knowledge, but like with everything else, I'm not willing to dismiss it.
matchbreaker: (Fear is the heart of love)

[personal profile] matchbreaker 2017-09-19 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
[ A beat and... ] Yeah, a lot of people here seem to know magic and magecraft and wizardry. If you want to know more, well. I mean, Estelle's said she knows it and Kimblee knows alchemy and I'm sure you could find more if you studied the profiles.

[ See rin, she didn't directly out you. ]

Tarrlok mentioned something like that. A martial art called "Bending" that involves manipulating the elements. I imagine he wouldn't like the comparison, but the fact remains that it's still something that was suppressed.

[personal profile] matchbreaker 2017-09-19 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I heard that too. Apparently the guy can normally move around water and stuff with water in it. Sounds pretty insane if you ask me.

[personal profile] perpend 2017-09-19 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
...Impressive.

If they can suppress that kind of power, it makes one wonder what power they have. Something more powerful than being able to break a spine without even touching the kid.

[personal profile] matchbreaker 2017-09-19 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Well, if you listen to that Rideuax guy, he seems to think the scariest thing they've done so far is take us here in the first place.

[ She says, humming a bit. ]

[personal profile] perpend 2017-09-19 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
You know, he's right.

We're all from different worlds, with very different realities-- magic in some, Kimblee's alchemy, Tarrlok's bending... these worlds are so different, that whatever brought us here is incredible advanced. It sounds like we're looking at something that can tear reality apart, and that in itself is... more suited to fiction than real life, to be frank.
matchbreaker: (I refuse to be forgotten)

[personal profile] matchbreaker 2017-09-19 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
I agree. I didn't even know about all these dimensional hooey things before now.

[ She frowns. ] The way he conceptualized it for me, different worlds are like floors in a building. But the difference between all our floors, for how different they are, has got to be a matter of hundreds more than a three or four. So either someone has an elevator, some really good jackhammer, or they just blew the whole damn thing up.

[ Metaphorically, of course.

That makes more sense to her. ]
perpend: (☂ to look like gary cooper)

[personal profile] perpend 2017-09-19 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)

I don't either.

[ Haha... ha. ]

I'm just doing my best with the metaphors.
