WEEK 2.

WEEK 2

Two people are dead. Jean Kirstein and Caren have both died due to a tragic accident. Of course, you're not entirely innocent, are you? You voted, you played into this game the Coordinators are running. But you know the stakes now. You know what failure to complete Rule Seven really means.

No more excuses from here on out.

Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost...

Of course, exploring the building from here on will reveal something new: namely, a stairwell in the northeastern corner, leading upwards toward a new floor entirely. Another sign of how things are going to progress around here, maybe; chances are you'll enjoy what you've been given, but was it worth the lives of two people to obtain?

There are definitely steps that we can all take to be safer. I've been wondering about setting up some kind of patrol to make sure nothing strange is happening during the night... But given what happened to Jean and Caren, I would want to make sure we choose people who are able to keep a calm mind.

I don't know. That's a noble idea, but... considering Jean's death was an accident, patrols might lead to another confrontation. I'd rather not have to put someone else to death for something like that, not again.

It's not a perfect idea, certainly. I simply worry what the alternative might hold. We can urge people to stay in their rooms, but...

[Her tone betrays that she doesn't have faith that would work.]

Maybe that's all we can do. I don't know what else there is to do.

Maybe a few people could offer some sort of self-defense training for those who don't have it?

We can explore and learn more about this place. We can take every action that isn't foolish to make sure that those who brought us here will pay for it.

[A sigh.]

...I would be glad to do so, if it comes to that. I know nothing of hand to hand combat, but I have some skill in swordplay. More importantly, I know how to keep myself safe. I could show the same to others.

That would be good enough.

I know some basic self-defense, enough to be able to teach people how to ward off an attacker. Of course, that's assuming they don't have the means to quickly overpower someone, but maybe it could buy someone a little bit of time.

I'd want to hope no one else will be attempted to attack someone else, but...

I will offer it soon, then. I will see if I can find anyone who is well versed in combat to join our cause, too.

[A frown.]

I do worry that we may be training a potential murderer, but - it is more important to be certain that those with no experience will know how to keep themselves safe.

Maybe if we keep it just to defense... ways to disarm or stun someone. But you're right, that's a risk we'll be taking.

[She nods.]

Keeping it to defense is an excellent idea. It should be safer than the alternative.
