WEEK 2 Two people are dead. Jean Kirstein and Caren have both died due to a tragic accident. Of course, you're not entirely innocent, are you? You voted, you played into this game the Coordinators are running. But you know the stakes now. You know what failure to complete Rule Seven really means. No more excuses from here on out. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Of course, exploring the building from here on will reveal something new: namely, a stairwell in the northeastern corner, leading upwards toward a new floor entirely. Another sign of how things are going to progress around here, maybe; chances are you'll enjoy what you've been given, but was it worth the lives of two people to obtain? It's a family photograph that I took from a pair of people who died on the battlefield. A married couple; the husband had this on his person at the time that he died.

It didn't seem right to me to leave it with their corpses, so I kept it.

I've taken photos off corpses too. [ ...because that's totally normal, apparently. ]

Keeping 'em in an album isn't morbid, in my opinion. Overexposure to light will eventually cause photos to fade, so it's better to put them in an album to preserve them.

I'm aware. Although again, this is my first time seeing this one in a while... It's been about six years, I'd say. The war came to an end, and I lost track of it after I returned to Central City.

It's a really odd thing to put in the machine, then. It'd make sense to put my camera or other personal belongings in there, but why some photo you haven't even seen in ages?

[ She pauses, moving closer to get a better look at the Pile of Stuff Kimblee's gotten from the machine. ]

...That dog looks like something from a horror movie.

[Like, really, what the hell is wrong with its face.]

I don't suppose you want the hideous thing.

I dunno, I think it's kind of charming. [ ...sure. charming. ] I wouldn't mind taking it off your hands, honestly.

Did you know that there are weapons in the machine? I got a kama and a taser earlier today.

I'll admit I have no idea what either of those things are.

Oh, a kama is kind of like a sickle. You use it to cut weeds or to harvest rice crops.

[ She reaches into her pocket, pulling out her taser. ]

And this is a taser. It temporarily stuns a person by giving them an electric shock that disrupts muscular control.

Not particularly subtle people, are they?

I don't think the word 'subtle' even exists in their dictionary, if you ask me.
