WEEK 2.

WEEK 2

Two people are dead. Jean Kirstein and Caren have both died due to a tragic accident. Of course, you're not entirely innocent, are you? You voted, you played into this game the Coordinators are running. But you know the stakes now. You know what failure to complete Rule Seven really means.

No more excuses from here on out.

Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost...

Of course, exploring the building from here on will reveal something new: namely, a stairwell in the northeastern corner, leading upwards toward a new floor entirely. Another sign of how things are going to progress around here, maybe; chances are you'll enjoy what you've been given, but was it worth the lives of two people to obtain?

They made an object just for that?

[He sounds confused, but whatever. Weird future stuff.]

If you want, I can show you how to make toast in a frying pan.

Nowadays there's an object for everything.

[Kyrie seems a bit intrigued]

Is that possible?

Well yes, of course. How do you think they made toast before your contraption was invented?

...I had never thought about it. I guess I always thought the toaster came before the toast, that it was specifically invented for that.

It wouldn't be the first time a contraption was invented for something as simple as toasting bread.

[You're in for a treat, Kyrie.

Luca is already moving to get a frying pan out.
]

No, in this case, the toaster came after. Probably to make it easier to make toast, I imagine.

There are actually two ways to make toast, depending on if you are using a stove or if you are using an open fire. I will show you this method, since there shouldn't be any open fires inside the building.

Now this I have to see by myself.

[She almost can't believe she'll learn to make toast in a pan. If he's willing to show her then she by all means will watch!]

[If Kyrie has ever made a grilled cheese, it is exactly the same process. Put butter on the toast, cook one side for a minute or so, then flip over and repeat.]

It isn't too difficult, honestly. The hardest part is making sure not to cook it too long.

[She is too high class for plebian food like grilled cheese, hahaha]

I should give it a try myself -- make sure I understand how it's done. Let's see...

[It's not too difficult. It's a bit toastier than it should be, but overall it's edible]

I didn't think it could be so simple to do without a toaster. It's true what they say: you always learn something new everyday.

[She looks pleased]

Mhmm. I do wonder why they made such a thing, since toast is pretty easy to make. It seems rather pointless, doesn't it? To have something taking up space when you will only use it for five minutes a day.

People say you don't need reasons to do science and invent stuff. You just do it.

People also say that you should do what you want whenever you want, consequences be damned. Just because someone says something doesn't make it true.
