WEEK 2 Two people are dead. Jean Kirstein and Caren have both died due to a tragic accident. Of course, you're not entirely innocent, are you? You voted, you played into this game the Coordinators are running. But you know the stakes now. You know what failure to complete Rule Seven really means. No more excuses from here on out. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Of course, exploring the building from here on will reveal something new: namely, a stairwell in the northeastern corner, leading upwards toward a new floor entirely. Another sign of how things are going to progress around here, maybe; chances are you'll enjoy what you've been given, but was it worth the lives of two people to obtain? Huh. Well, it didn't sound like it'd be an easy one, so I'm not too surprised about that either.

[ Yuri doesn't know if any of his friends could manage anything like that. ]

So, how long's this arte been around for? Is it something new or has it just always been a thing?

[That's for the better.]

Oh, it's been around for quite some time. Couple thousand years. It hasn't changed much in that timeframe though. There are still quite a few rules and universal constants revolving around it.

[He went into it a little bit during the week one meeting, after Tabby said her piece about alternate realities.]

[ He remembers that...vaguely. All of the different realities and worlds thing is still making his head spin--he's still not sure what to think of all that stuff, honestly.

Why can't things be simple? ]

So, who put the arte into place anyway? Some kind of old geezer that liked the idea of dimensional travel?

[Why indeed.]

Something exactly along those lines, yes. I wouldn't say it's the most enjoyable job working in Dimensional Affairs, but it's necessary for those of us who can to do so.

[ He has a bit of respect for Rideaux for that, actually. Not many people would want to do something that takes so much work. ]

I'm guessing that's why you went for the job in the first place, even though it's pretty tough and all?

I wouldn't say I "went for it" so much as I was recruited. The job chose me, so to speak, because I just so happen to be someone who can help.

[So he's reluctantly doing it, but he's doing it.]

Recruited, huh? So you didn't turn down the job because it's something you can do--and probably because of the pay too? I'm thinking they at least have to pay you pretty good to be a Director and all.

[ Yuri knows if anyone tried to recruit him for anything like that he'd turn them down in an instant. ]

Oh, they certainly do. I have more than enough to support myself with, thanks to both of my positions.

[...and then some, if his usual attire is anything to go by. He's pretty loaded.]
