greenmamabear: (Happy happy happy talk?)

I don't believe in fretting and greiving, why mess around with strife?

[In some ways, this trial was simpler. The killer was lacking in remorse, the victim innocent. The lines were clearer. Was that better, or worse?

Either way, Fern and Alex make up something of a green team, preparing a meal in the kitchen. Nothing particularly complicated. Coffee and water for whoever want it is at one end of the dining table. Along the rest of it is a variety of foods. A plate of cheese and crackers, a bowl of salad and carrots for the healthy people, some handy finger sandwiches, and... a big pot of mac and cheese. What they lack in presentation they make up in sheer volume of food. That's a big tub of mac and cheese.

They struggle with the invitations for a bit before eventually coming up with possibly the most awkward phrasing possible. These notes are quietly shoved under doors with little fanfare more than a quick knock.

We got food in eat place. Food is good to eat. Enjoy food with us?

- Fern and Alex

[The dining area is lined up with some appropriate decorations, quick paper streamers and even some doodles that have been taped to the walls.

Its possible too simple. But maybe people need something simple to gorge on after a complicated day.

Oh! Well, yeah, them... [ ...Hmmmm. ] Yeah, I guess they're totally cowards, but they're also like, brave enough to step up and do something...?

[ ...it's a weird situation. ]

Honestly, I've been thinking abut that myself. Maybe we'll eventually have one it feels less ambiguous about, but the one this week was a scared girl and the one last week was a victim in the first place.

We probably won't. Humas are fond of having sob stories and pulling the pity card. [ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ] Next week's gonna be, I dunno... Attentive?

[ ...SHE SORT OF HOPES NOT but anyway. ]

Don't tease me, I'll rip your throat out.

[ She tenses up as she responds with that, one of her hands with the long lady fingernails coming up before she realized what she was doing. apparently, she's ... still defensive there. ]

You like her too, huh?

I think I made an ass of myself enough at the trial to make that obvious.

[ She exhales, lowering her hand and inclining her head a little as the closest she's going to an apology. ]

[ Snrrrk, yeah. Aligula's shaking her head; no apology needed, really. Elda's as bad as the humans here, she's finding, but she gets the important things right, so. You know. Little bit of good, little bit of bad. ]

Did you make up with Harmonious~? She's the one you gotta apologize to, you know, since she was just answering a question before you jumped down her throat.

Why should I? Not like I know the little human brat.

So that if she dies next week, you're not looked at as the first suspect, of course!

[ this is so cavalier and terrible, why are you so awful aligula?? ]

It's always in those crime dramas... People who're fighty at each other totally get put at the top of the suspect list when one of 'em gets murdered!

... Oh. That's actually a good point. I'm not sure it'll work, but I might as well do that.

[ at least... Elda??? agrees. ]

[ thanks elda, you get her. ]

Yep! Don't get too chummy though, since obviously those people get looked at too... [ As proven by this past trial, haha. ha. ] You gotta strike a balance!

[ She presses her lips together once but then nods ]

Yeah, yeah, that tracks. ... I'm still not used to being around this many people, honestly. It's been a while.

...Honestly, like, me neither? There's only thirteen of us kings, and like, sometimes we're not even all present... Usually there's maybe ten or eleven aside from me around.

[ It's a pretty small party, all things considered. ]

And none of them are like, human either? So it's totally weird to be around this many people and have them be, like, not-nonhuman.

Mmm, yeah. I've largely just been around my family for years, especially since I've stopped bothering to go to the Assembly that often.

[ Still shes... glad someone related??? ]

Yeah - once a year, all the families in Japan get together to discuss matters important to the species's survival, or at least that's the idea. Honestly, it usually turns into bitching about whatever new diet the humans are on or fretting about things that can't be helped like the birth rate.

[personal profile] innocentloveholic 2017-09-29 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Well, when you get a bunch of old people in a room, that's totally what's gonna happen... Does what humans eat really affect so much?
matchbreaker: (Notre Dame)

[personal profile] matchbreaker 2017-09-29 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
[ She nods, exactly. ... Even if she's one of the most senior people there when she shows up ]

It's not key for the taste of nutrition per se, but you can pick up little bits of their diet in there. Like over the last few decades, a little more sticky sorts of fats entered Japan's diet, so it doesn't flow as freely in some people. Or there's some people that swear too much sugar makes the flavor get thrown off.

And what's your personal opinion on that totally boring stuff?
matchbreaker: (Wow cool...)

[personal profile] matchbreaker 2017-09-29 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
Tedious!

[ . . . ] I mean yes, the birth rate's a concern, but it can't be that bad if a shrew like Calera's managed to pop out three kids.
