don't wait for a knight in shinin' armor, your savior's reflected in the mirror

[That sure was a fucking thing. That execution was a fucking thing. Those secrets are a fucking thing.

Cabanela retreats to his room, but not for all that long. Everyone will get a note eventually, written in very neat handwriting

I do not plan on bowing down to threats and intimidation. If you did not act, it means you were, like me, aware of the risk, but decided against it. Your reasons are entirely your own.

Join me in the dining room if you agree enough is enough, and that you won't acquiesce to threats. I don't plan to let this stop me, and neither should you.

In the dining room itself, Cabanela has set up coffee and tea for those who want it-- there's no food, because to be honest, he doesn't know how to cook. Two more candles have been lit-- he wasn't really sure what to do about the whole... parasite thing... so Fern's candle will have to make due.]

And I'm guessing you can't just, like, use a magic stone to solve the problem. [She knows that whole song and dance.] . . . I get that. My powers aren't, like, as bad? But they're, like. They're not good for my world, really.

Yes, it's not that simple.

[She's really glad someone understands? This is nice. But now she's curious.]

What are your powers, Tabitha?
zomgboom: (what are you saying?)

The short version is I can make bombs. The long version is . . . I control plasma which is, like . . . you know lightning? I can, like, make it flow through the air and explode with a snap. [She snaps her fingers for emphasis.] Except to do that I have to, like, consume the air people breathe.

[Because that's super great and not at all making global warming go faster.]

There's a cost for every power - power is responsibility and stuff, so you have to, like, use them responsibly.

'Power is responsibility'.

[Estelle parrots those words as if something clicked within her.]

I suppose there really is a lot of truth to that.

[And given what they've learned about Blastia (especially hermes Blastia), there's a ton of truth to it.]

You've given this a lot of thought, Tabitha.

I went to school for this stuff, so I had to. I mean, like, I didn't pay a whole lot of attention and stuff because I'm super bad at book learning but they were always, like, yammering on about responsibility.

[Letting teenagers have superpowers is probably the #1 bad choice, but the X-Men sure is a bunch of teenagers full of hormones with superpowers.]

I saw . . . a lot of bad stuff happen when we weren't, like, thinking about what we were doing so I try not to do things I know are gonna end badly now. It's, like, the benefit of growing up and stuff, I guess.
