Take Responsibility.

And once everyone has done what they need to do and gathered at that bottom of that stairwell in the dormitory, the door before them once again seems to unlatch and swing outward, lightly and of its own volition. It's the fourth time in the span of about a month; perhaps there's some strange, dark sense of familiarity in it.

Perhaps, too, that stairwell leading further down is beginning to feel familiar, dark and unwelcoming though it is; the courtroom is still illuminated at the bottom of it, sending a slight amount of light up the stairs and guiding everyone down to that stark room made of concrete and steel.

The podium circle stands still and silent in the center, waiting for everyone to take their place around the darkened pit below; once again, there's been a change in the circle itself in the form of three more podiums joining the ranks of the deceased. Fern, Tabby, and Sigrun all have their places in the circle marked with black cloth and a photograph in greyscale, keeping watch over all of you in a manner both unseeing and vaguely judgmental.

As always, the thirty-sixth podium stands blank and unoccupied among you.

Once everyone has found their place in the circle, Jericho can be heard over the public-address system; he seems to have collected himself at some point during the investigation, it shows in his voice, as little as anyone really wants it to.

"For better or worse, Boundless is no longer among you. I'm sure you guys all know what that means by now, what you're here to do.

And before you ask, because I know it's going to come up eventually and now's as good a time as any - yeah, we'd have you down here if someone tries to be a big damn hero for the group, because someone's still dead because somebody fucked up. It just means the dead person and the guilty person are the same person.

So you know what, the game's the same, no matter what happened here - innocent against the guilty, fourth time, let's go! And as always, do your best!
"

Twenty-six Participants remain. However many leave this place is up to you.

Definitely possible, yeah. Whoever wrote the note here usually is one to write well. But like I said, I dunno if I've ever seen Sigrun write something before.

...do we even know if Sigrun could write in whatever language that note is written in?

[ SHRUG? I mean you're next to her, you want to check it out? She's been assuming everyone's been speaking Japanese or English. ]

[Honestly he doesn't even know what language Sigrun speaks/writes in and she's not here to check with, so.

They'll have to go by the handwriting probably.

...honestly, the better question is if we can even tell the difference. Despite the face there should be a language barrier, no one had a problem reading the information in the profiles, right?

[She wonders if the thing that allows them to communicate extends to writing.]
ninehundredlives: ([ a better mouse trap ])

[personal profile] ninehundredlives 2017-10-07 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah...I can only speak English, so I'm pretty sure I shouldn't really be able to talk to some of you at all.
perpend: (☂ perfect fits)

....That's a very good point.

[He hadn't even thought of it.]

You may be right there. Tabatha was the only one who had trouble, right? And that was because of illiteracy, not a language barrier.
evilfrenzy: (♟ are you kidding me)

[personal profile] evilfrenzy 2017-10-07 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I've considered this as well. It's quite the can of worms to open in the middle of a trial.
bloodisthicker: does he even have a life outside of douchey politics (so how late does he work every night)

[personal profile] bloodisthicker 2017-10-07 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
...There aren't really language barriers in my world to begin with, so it didn't really strike me as particularly odd.
heritrix: (sounds like something a bitch would say)

[personal profile] heritrix 2017-10-07 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't either. If we assume it's a forgery, however, and that the note came from a culprit, between us there's probably a few people we can rule out. All those hand-written invitations we've gotten over the weeks, for instance. This handwriting doesn't match any of those.

I would suggest collecting handwriting samples now, but. Well. The killer could fake their handwriting now that they know we're looking for that.
firstaid: (curiouser and curiouser)

Still, it wouldn't hurt to collect them. It's better that we try and get nothing out of it instead of not doing them and it end up serving as a vital clue.
matchbreaker: (wait that's the wrong lyrics)

So...

[ counting it off on her fingers: ] Aligula, obviously. Cabanela, Chie, Tarrlok...

[ She taps her chin ] Sayaka. [ It could have been Estelle but she chooses to believe Sayaka here #biased ] And then I guess whoever had a stroke between Fern and Alex.

[ Unless she missed someone. ]
heritrix: (listen up class)

I've exchanged handwritten letters with both Sayaka and Susan.

[So she can double vouch for Sayaka, and then one for Susan as well.]
destage: (CUTE ♡ A marketable trait)

[Sayaka nods her head in response to that--she can at least vouch for Rin in kind.]
