Week 2.

WEEK 2 Two people are dead. Ken Kaneki has been murdered, Reaver has been executed - and perhaps most uncomfortably, the Conductor is proud of you all for adhering to due process. (As always, by which he means that there is a process, and you all are certainly doing it.) Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... However, once you've shaken that off, there are new things to be looked at; the previously closed-off area near the kitchen has been unlocked, and there's a new floor to be explored - consider it your reward for a job well done. [Oh don't worry, he is. He just can't afford to stay a mess. It'll make him an easier target and now that everyone knows the rules, he imagines someone else will die soon.]

Ah, that's convenient. Have you taken inventory of this room?

[crimsonchin]

I've taken a cursory glance around; this place is actually remarkably well-stocked. There's basic medical supplies, but there are also a ton of tools used for surgery, and there's even blood, for blood transfusions...

I'm no medic. I imagine some of the nurses would benefit more from things like that than I would. But I wonder if we could somehow figure out everyone's blood type...that way, if we find someone bleeding out, we could give them a blood transfusion quickly with the stuff we have in here.

[decrees]

[HE IS FROM THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION WITH ZERO MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE...]

I... see. Would that be able to save someone's life?

[He's... pretty sure that's the point of it. Maybe?? Oh god why is he so backwards.]

[crimsonchin]

If they've been cut or something and they're losing blood quickly? Then yeah, it might. For something that doesn't involve exsanguination, though, it wouldn't do much.

[decrees]

Ah, that's...

[Really sitting with him wrong, Reaver was decapitated and all the blood--]

Yes, I see.

[He sounds very distracted and he folds his hands behind his back to hide how badly they're shaking.]

If you find Susan around, you should tell her that keeping a record like that might be smart.

[ Whether Asuka caught his hands shaking or not remains to be seen; either way, she doesn't comment on it. ]

You might benefit from more rest, yourself. ...I imagine you didn't sleep very well.

[decrees]

Of course.

[That remark gets him to tip his head a bit.]

I didn't, no, but that's hardly unusual.

[He honestly looks like he hasn't slept in like, four years.]

You're not gonna be much help to us if you're walking around like you're about to pass out, Your Highness.

[decrees]

[And that gets a very visible flinch out of him.]

I'm not about to pass out. I'm fine.

If you insist. I'm just saying, don't neglect your health.

I wonder if there are any anesthetics in here, actually...

[decrees]

[Well he's not going to do anything stupid after he was fine letting Reaver die so he'd stay alive...]

Any what?

[HOW DO WE MEDICINE]

[crimsonchin]

Anesthetic. It knocks you out. Puts you to sleep. Knowing the Conductor, I wouldn't be surprised if he put it in here for more...nefarious purposes.

[decrees]

I imagine he would. He's placed weapons in the machine, why would he stop there?

[crimsonchin]

Fair enough. It's equal parts good and bad, honestly. I imagine it'd be useful for people who needed the rest...the stress alone'll kill you.

[decrees]

Indeed. I can see where that would be useful. It's worth taking note of in case any goes missing, however.

[That would've been really helpful back home, honestly.]

[crimsonchin]

Maybe keeping an inventory of this room isn't such a bad idea, then, in that case. After all, surgical tools aren't exactly safe, either...

[decrees]

I imagine they wouldn't be. I appreciate your help with the storage room, by the way.

[That probably came in handy during the investigation-- ah. Let's not discuss that.]

Nichts zu danken. Like I said the other day, having a quartermaster is important.

[decrees]

Ah, yes, it is. What does that mean? That phrase.

[HE'S SO INQUISITIVE, SORRY ABOUT THAT]

It's basically "you're welcome". Sorry, sometimes I can't really help it. German's my mother tongue. It's the language I think in.

[decrees]

Ah, I see.

What language are you speaking now, then?

[YOU KNOW WHAT HE JUST REALIZED]

....Wait, wait, wait a second...

[decrees]

If you can speak your native language here and it registers as being a different language, then what are we speaking? It can't all be the same language. I'm only familiar with the common tongue.

[ENGLISH??? WHO KNOWS]

Well, I only know Japanese and German fluently. I know English, too, enough to get me by, but not nearly enough to carry on complete conversations in it...

I see. I'm not sure how it's possible for us to understand one another.
