trustfell | Week 2.

WEEK 2
Two people are dead. Ken Kaneki has been murdered, Reaver has been executed - and perhaps most uncomfortably, the Conductor is proud of you all for adhering to due process.

(As always, by which he means that there is a process, and you all are certainly doing it.)

Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost...

However, once you've shaken that off, there are new things to be looked at; the previously closed-off area near the kitchen has been unlocked, and there's a new floor to be explored - consider it your reward for a job well done.

[Elise hesitates, then hands them over.] Go ahead, your majesty. I've certainly got no use for something like these. [She looks off to the side nervously.] Are they something you've seen?

[He'll look through them for a moment, head tipped slightly to the side as he thinks.]

...I believe they're Reaver's. His gun is unique; he's always bragging about how there are only six in the world.

[Ah...]

He was always bragging about that. The Conductor said our weapons were safe and being cared for, so I'm not sure why these would be in here.

[But maybe they were shoved in the machine to get Reaver to react to them, like a lot of these various items from their homes. Huh.]

...I'll hold onto them. We don't have Reaver's gun so we have no reason to worry about them being used.

Of course. This isn't the first of our own things to appear, but bullets for a gun that's locked away... perhaps he didn't have anything else to do but put them in the machine? The Conductor, that is.

...Why wouldn't he keep them with the gun?

[Well, who knows. The Conductor has it out for him, so maybe this is yet another "fuck you, Logan" thing.]

Safety would be my first thought, but in this scenario, I'm not so sure.

You're welcome, of course. I honestly don't know what he's thinking.

I suspect we'll never know exactly what the Conductor is thinking. I have no interest in finding out.

[HE'S A LITTLE MAD]

I hope we'll get out before then, though of course that goes without saying regardless.

Of course. The sooner we can escape, the better. There most likely isn't a way out from the second floor either, but perhaps there's something useful up there.

I'll look through it later. If anything, it'll give us more to look into as to why we're here. There's always an answer, is there not?

There should be, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if the Conductor decided to do this on a whim and chose us for no particular reason.

We certainly don't seem to have anything in common between the twenty-nine captives... If it is random, it's a pain on top of everything.

Indeed. I had hoped there was something that would tie us all together and perhaps give us an idea about our captor, but it seems as though there isn't anything.

I'd thought it was that we were all important, but a few of us admitted themselves that that wasn't the case. Ms. Mankanshoku even seemed proud of it... I don't understand a bit.

Neither do I. Perhaps she's more important than she thinks she is? Surely he wouldn't choose boring people for something like this.

[And Sukuyo is the furthest thing from boring, honestly.]

She certainly stands out, at least. He probably just knows something we don't.

That makes the most sense. Or perhaps he's completely crazy and believes we all have something in common when we don't.

He knows too much to be mistaken, but all the profiles were wrong in parts, too. Or most of them, at least. That's what I still don't understand.

Yes, it's very confusing. He didn't seem to realize there were errors in them either, which is odd. Unfortunately all we can do at this point is speculate and I doubt that will get us very far.

Perhaps if we had a meeting. It may be hard to coordinate, but it might be a better choice than papers in the halls, if only because we'd be spared from tangents of vandalism.

That's true. We should arrange one in order to discuss the situation here. While we'll certainly be overheard by the Conductor, I doubt writing letters would be any easier. It certainly would be more of a hassle to coordinate.

It's settled, then. We'll all need to meet up and discuss what we've found. And hope Mr. Sanchez doesn't go on about being the "leader" again.

If he does, we'll all shut him down again. He did absolutely nothing to assist with the--

[investigation, the case, the trial]

He's done nothing useful for any of us.

[The momentary hesitation only gets an awkward look before Logan pushes forward, though his hands are shaking despite how his voice and expression have settled back into the norm.]

Absolutely. I don't think anyone would side with him to begin with. [...] Well, I suppose it'll be good to see, anyway, everyone convening over strategy and how we'll deal with escaping.

Indeed. Shall we leave a note tomorrow and select a time to discuss everything?

[Having everyone in the same room again is... sort of awful and it will undoubtedly be loud and obnoxious, but it's important that they try to work together.]

That's perfect. We'll do it so everyone can see the next day. It's good to get everyone in, after all!
