Week 2.

WEEK 2 Two people are dead. Ken Kaneki has been murdered, Reaver has been executed - and perhaps most uncomfortably, the Conductor is proud of you all for adhering to due process. (As always, by which he means that there is a process, and you all are certainly doing it.) Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... However, once you've shaken that off, there are new things to be looked at; the previously closed-off area near the kitchen has been unlocked, and there's a new floor to be explored - consider it your reward for a job well done. I really hope we never need this...I doubt half of us even know how to use it.

But at least we don't need to ask him for bandages anymore.

None of this is any good if we don't know how to use it. Of course, it won't be the best instruction.

Just what we need to get by is what's important, honestly. We're not looking for complete medical expertise.

I'll show you how to set up an IV. But you can't practice finding veins on me. [That's a joke.]

That sounds like a useful skill to have...alright, go ahead. Show me what to do.

Okay. It's really not that difficult.

[Susan takes one of the IV bags out. She's not sure they can count on these being restocked, so she won't literally demonstrate - she gestures to the cap on one end of the bag.]

First you pull off this cap, and this one on the drip chamber - [Holding up one end of the IV line] - and connect them.

Okay, got it. Sounds simple enough. What comes after that?

[ She's writing this down, just as a reference... ]

Clamp it shut, and squeeze the drip chamber a few times? You don't need to fill it up, but get some in there. Then you can unclamp it and let the solution flow into the tube.

And that's it, really. You'll want to try for the vein here. [She touches the inside of her elbow lightly.]

It might take a few tries to find a vein. It will, honestly.
