Week 2.

WEEK 2

Two people are dead. Ken Kaneki has been murdered, Reaver has been executed - and perhaps most uncomfortably, the Conductor is proud of you all for adhering to due process.

(As always, by which he means that there is a process, and you all are certainly doing it.)

Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost...

However, once you've shaken that off, there are new things to be looked at; the previously closed-off area near the kitchen has been unlocked, and there's a new floor to be explored - consider it your reward for a job well done.

PARTICIPANTS REMAINING: 27

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY

[The old photo looks more believable than his own, mostly because Marty said he could travel through time.]

Ain't nuts no more. We got buildin's to help with filterin', sure, but we could always walk just fine, unlike Venus or Mercury.

...You know, never really thought about the lack of trees there. Lived there so long, I almost forgot!
heymcfly: (mahm why)

[personal profile] heymcfly 2015-11-10 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
[ Holy shit. Marty's beyond the point of wondering if this guy was telling the truth. The fact that Mordecai's talking about actually living on Mars is pretty damn neat at this point in time. Forget how weird it is! ]

So what's it like? [ His head tilts, eyes wide with curiosity. ] Do you have swimming pools? Roads?
forcegalactic: (dum dee dum)

[personal profile] forcegalactic 2015-11-10 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Lotsa red, mostly dry. Swimmin' hard to come by when water ain't that common. [It's cute, having someone from Earth asking about Mars. Unlike Rebecca, though, Marty is easier to listen to.]

Most of the planet's populated by Martians, humans only live in one town and a few farms jus' outside, so we only got one lawman on the planet. It's nice, if you like livin' in a small place where you know nearly everyone, and I do know everyone who came to my saloon, which included most of the adult population.

[He tugs on his mustache, thinking of what else is important to mention.]

Plenty of visitors from Earth, lots of aliens an' robots visitin'. Most are of the kind that aim not to cause trouble, but there's always that robot outlaw or mad scientist that needs to be stopped by the Marshal. I don't care much for troublemakers, and I do mention it all the time, but for some reason, my saloon used to be a popular destination for 'em.

...Funny out that always turned out.
heymcfly: (d'aw)

[personal profile] heymcfly 2015-11-11 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
[ Man! No water, Martians and farms? That sounds like something his teen dad would want to write about, but holy shit. Marty had to keep reminding himself that this all was real, and Mordecai wasn't making this up at the top of his head.

He couldn't help but give a little giggle at the mad scientist thing. That's what Doc was always known as, and he couldn't understand why after he actually got to meet him. ]
Did the robots shoot at people with lasers?

Back in the old west days I think saloons were always a hangout for bad guys. Maybe it's 'cause that was where the booze was.
forcegalactic: (dum dee dum)

[personal profile] forcegalactic 2015-11-11 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
[He is literally from 50's sci-fi western land. It's awesome.]

All guns we got are lasers. More practical than the ones with bullets they used to have. And no, not always. Once, this robot stole a science gun what switched around minds. The Marshal got stuck in a Martian's body, and the same for the other.

Old West...hm, that Earth era with the cowboys, right? Makes sense, but the saloon's meant to be for everyone to forget their troubles, not cause it.

[ Marty is absolutely loving this right now. ] So, it's like an old John Wayne movie with a little bit of Star Wars, right? [ What with the aliens and lasers and westerns and mumbo jumbo. That's almost like a dream come true...only he wasn't huge on John Wayne. ] And you lived through that every day?

Maybe somethin' about the place is attracting them? Like you gotta set somethin' up so that they won't wanna go in. Like tax their booze?

[He doesn't recognize the actor's name; must have been someone very famous back in Marty's time.] I guess? Don't know what the Wars have to do with it, but Mars is kinda styled after this one Earth historical period, I think it's called the Old West.

[He shakes his head.] I'm already advertisin' my place as one of peace, iffen they wanna brawl, there's another saloon across the street that welcomes it. You heard me mention it to the Conductor, right? O'Tooles And now he's gonna take my business away. [The most disappointing defeat.]
heymcfly: (brainblast????)

[personal profile] heymcfly 2015-11-13 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
[ Marty's silent when Mordecai doesn't bring up Star Wars. He...doesn't know what that is? How?!

But yet, they know about the old west. Huh. ]

Man, the Doc would have loved you. [ A smile breaks on his face before he can stop it, and Marty's going on. ] He loved the Old West. Add on the fact that you live on Mars and he would have been sold. I gotta tell him the next time I bump into 'em.

[ Oh. Wait.

Subject change, yes. ]
I thought I heard you mention it. Do you think...they're missin' us at home? Like, calling the cops and everything?
forcegalactic: (what the shit)

[personal profile] forcegalactic 2015-11-13 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
[They're actual space wars, not a series of films in his universe.]

Well, add him and yourself to the list of curious folks. I might as well have a Q&A session about Mars at this rate.

[Which would be a good way to distract themselves from everything...now that Marty brings it up.]

I certainly hope they are. Don't know if Marshal Techs would care much for a human - he's a robot, you see; shot Marshal Nevada and stole his badge, that's how he wrongfully took the position - but Sparks Nevada's too much of a chronic hero to leave me behind. He'd have contacted my wife by now, gotten everyone in town involved. Heck, with all the mad scientist on Mars, I'm sure one of them's got a machine that can detect where I am.

[He finds himself with his back against the wall and leans on it. He really hopes it's true. Soon, all the heroes of Mars will come riding together, possibly with the help of the United Solar System Alliance, right through that front door. Sparks and Red will bicker at each other like usual, Cactoid Jim will give a calming speech to the twenty-seven people left, and they all go home. This will be a terrifying thing of the past.]

Ain't no reason why they'd stop lookin' for us, no matter what the Conductor says.
heymcfly: (watttt)

[personal profile] heymcfly 2015-11-14 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Would you really? [ Marty's eyes go a little wide at this. Something about a Q&A about Mars actually sounds really nice! He'd be interested in it, anyway. It would be something cool to tell Doc when he got home.

Wait, never mind.

Marty goes a little silent as he listens to all the...stuff that's been going on, or would be going on now, or something like that. Robots shooting people, super high-tech home security that's looking for others, or whatever...jesus. It's a little overwhelming to hear, but with all this stuff that they have in the future, they got to find out where he is, right? ]

Can you hear from them at all?
forcegalactic: (what the shit)

[personal profile] forcegalactic 2015-11-15 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
[He nods. Better to answer everyone's question in one sitting than have to go through the same question over and over again.

The Barkeep sighs.
] No...it's all a one-way thing, detectin' somethin'. If they found me, I haven't realized it yet.

[There's the soccer photo again.] You know, funny as it is, this fake picture's the best thing I got to remind me of home.
heymcfly: (3)

[personal profile] heymcfly 2015-11-15 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Marty listens to the Barkeep silently, nodding along when the moment calls for it. It's...sad, kind of. There's a bunch of shit probably that could remind everyone of home, but they're not allowed to have it.

A daily reminder that the Conductor is an asshole.

He looks a little crestfallen, nodding along in agreement with the Barkeep. ]
...Are you sure it's fake?
forcegalactic: Will edit this art so many times (pondering)

[personal profile] forcegalactic 2015-11-15 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[He looks over the photo again. There's the familiar red plains of Mars, his own face, but apart from that, nothing else can be real. He never met those teenagers, he never liked being near a sports ball, much less wear a coach's jersey.

He shakes his head.
] It has to be. I don't remember this happenin', ain't that enough?

[There's nothing wrong with his memories, he's sure of it. Like many others, he woke up with inexplicable injuries, though it's nothing as bad as Cabanela's. That's all there is to it.]
