WEEK 2 Two people are dead. Ken Kaneki has been murdered, Reaver has been executed - and perhaps most uncomfortably, the Conductor is proud of you all for adhering to due process. (As always, by which he means that there is a process, and you all are certainly doing it.) Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... However, once you've shaken that off, there are new things to be looked at; the previously closed-off area near the kitchen has been unlocked, and there's a new floor to be explored - consider it your reward for a job well done. I do, yes. It's been quite some time since I last practiced regularly. It... is a nice distraction here.

[Even though the ballroom is where Kaneki was strung from the chandelier... Logan hasn't been into the ballroom since before that investigation.]

[Susan shrugs faintly.] You must be busy.

I've only played the one here once or twice. It didn't feel right at first...I'm used to just playing alone in my flat, every so often. [Her expressions sours a bit.] The neighbors aren't my biggest fans.

[decrees]

[Running a country and trying to save six million people from certain doom is a full time job!]

Indeed? I sincerely doubt your playing is terrible.

[Well, no time like the present, right?]

Allow me a moment to put these in my room; I'll meet you in the ballroom. I really would like to hear you play.

It's not about that. They just don't like the noise, or the cats. [Are those two things related?] The guy upstairs is the worst - nasty, pathetic little man. It makes him feel better to shout.

[Fucking Bryan. No one likes Bryan.]

Alright. I'll go and get the music.

[decrees]

[...Well, considering that Logan is one of those people who feels better when he's shouting at people, um. It's totally just the stress of running a country!!

Anyway, he'll be in the ballroom shortly, though he's definitely going to let Susan take the piano first since he's... kind of bad at sight-reading.]

[Well, he's not shouted at her yet.

Susan shows up with the sheet music and arranges it on the piano before sitting.]

It's been years since I played for anyone else...

[She glances it over, and okay let's see what this shit sounds like]

[It's...surprisingly acceptable shit - close in sound to this, actually.]

[Logan stands nearby, listening with his head tipped to the side. It's actually very pretty... huh.]

Are you not fond of playing for others?

[It is pretty. Damn, she almost wanted it to be awful.]

Who would I play for? I haven't got any family.

[decrees]

[It would have been really nice if we could have made fun of it.]

May I ask what your life was like back home?

[He doesn't really know anything about Susan and he's curious, so.]

There isn't much to tell. I live alone, and I'm between jobs at the moment...I guess you wouldn't know anything about that.

[What a ridiculous thing, trying to explain her stupid little life to a king. It doesn't even matter if he's a good king (she's been forgetting the execution thing lately, she might be getting too comfortable). The point is that he matters, one way or another. He does things.

I wouldn't, though I doubt my experience is close to anyone else's.

I don't normally get out of the flat much. It's been...strange, being here. [She talked to more people that first day than she probably has for weeks. Or months, even.]

[decrees]

I scarcely leave the War Room and only see people when I absolutely must. I understand.

[He hates holding audiences, it's literally the worst thing ever. But he does try sometimes. Sometimes.]

It... has been a nice change of pace though, despite the situation.

I suppose so. I do prefer the people here to the ones at home.

[A brief pause as Susan remembers that Rick exists.]

...well, most of them.

[decrees]

...Rick exists, yes.

[Said in a tone that implies this is very unfortunate.]

There are some I am not very fond of, but most of the people here are very kind.

[...Considering how much everyone hates him back home, it's definitely worth mentioning.]

More than I would have expected.

But they do say adversity brings people together.

Indeed. It's been interesting, but I do hope we aren't in here for much longer.

[Though given the fact that we're probably in another world entirely and there isn't an escape... We're all going to die.]
