WEEK 2 Two people are dead. Ken Kaneki has been murdered, Reaver has been executed - and perhaps most uncomfortably, the Conductor is proud of you all for adhering to due process. (As always, by which he means that there is a process, and you all are certainly doing it.) Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... However, once you've shaken that off, there are new things to be looked at; the previously closed-off area near the kitchen has been unlocked, and there's a new floor to be explored - consider it your reward for a job well done. Who cares? There was - there's a pretty obvious gap in the market here. Which is namely that - that people like her [GESTURING ANGRILY AT SUKUYO] care more about seeing Tim Burton's bitch in eyeshadow than they do about - about real quality rides.

Pirates of the Pancreas is quality, Morty. It's a quality ride and the fact that it's destroyed, i-i-it's a national tragedy.

Jeez.. sorry that I um. Kind of had a hand in destroying it, Rick. I-I know it was something really important to you and all... [Weren't they telling each other to go die like three days ago]

[and she'll just ruffle his hair as she leaves.]

[Actually you know I'm gonna reply with an actual reply too fuck it]

[After Sukuyo leaves the room, Morty kind of awkwardly shifts his attention back to his grandpa, though his gaze stays clung towards the floor.]

U-um, Rick? I'm sorry that I - I-I'm sorry for y'know... acting the way I did. [Morty honestly shouldn't be the one apologizing here, but he's a good kid and he knows nothing'll move forward if neither of them do.]

I was just worried, 'cause it looks like everyone here hates you besides me. So I didn't want to like - I-I didn't know if you were welcome or not? [He still keeps his gaze towards the floor, kind of scared that Rick was still mad and not wanting to see the angry look on his face.]

But I'll just.. I-I won't interfere with whatever you wanna do anymore.

Well. Yeah. You should be.

[This would be the part where he digs his hands into his pockets and walks away. He's about to, even! But he stops short, and actually comes back around. He grabs Morty under his chin and actually pulls his head up, more calm than those normal forceful grabs of his.]

Look, just. Just - don't worry about me, alright? It's that simple. It's not worth the time and it sure as Hell isn't worth the effort.

So just don't.

[It's easier said than done, Rick. Much easier to say you're not gonna worry about someone you love(?) than to actually not worry, especially when you're Morty who can be kind of a worrywort in the first place, but you know, he'll at least try for Rick's sake. He's just.. this is super unfamiliar, for a multitude of reasons. They're stuck somewhere, Rick has no idea where they are or what to do to get them home, and everyone in here hates Rick with a passion definitely burning enough for murder. So he's rightfully worried! He's worried about himself, too. But...]

..o-okay. Yeah, I got it Rick. [He doesn't want to spend the time here arguing, especially since the possibility that they both won't make it out alive is so very, very real.]

[He stands up now, and he motions to Morty to follow.]

Let's go to the kitchen. I talked to that german bitch a few days ago and - and now I want a fuckin' pretzel.

[mortyfied]

Th-they've got pretzels here? [He'll gladly follow after, a little curiously. He actually hasn't looked through the food much since he doesn't cook, he just waits for someone to make food that he can mooch off of.]

They've got dough. I'm a goddamn genius, Morty. There's - there's like, no effort involved with making pretzels.

[mortyfied]

[He looks fairly surprised. Like, unbelievably surprised.]

You know how to cook, Rick? [Where did this magic ability come from or at least where has it been all this time]

Cooking is glorified science made for fans of Rachel Ray, Morty. [They're in the kitchen now, and he's gonna go rummaging through the cabinets.] Why would I cook at home w-when I've got other people to do it for me.

[mortyfied]

I dunno, because mom has a job but still does it, and dad doesn't ever cook for her? [He shrugs a little. It might be nice for someone to y'know. Do something for Beth every once in a while like that.]

Your dad is useless and your mother is a saint who manages to do these things even on the verge of a failing marriage. Do you want pretzels or not.

Jeez... [I mean, he's not wrong though.]

Y-yeah, yeah I do.

Good. 'Cuz I was making 'em whether or not you wanted some.

[There he goes! Rick is out and about making these really buttery soft pretzels. It's sort of the same passive-aggressive enthusiasm he has in the lab, and occasionally, he will bitch at Morty to get him ingredients. It shouldn't be totally unexpected.]

[On one hand, it's so fucking weird seeing Rick willingly cooking food for himself and Morty, especially after such a stupid but big argument between the two of them. But on the other, it was really comforting? Not 'cause his grandfather was making him good food but because it was like they were back in the garage, tinkering with whatever science-y gadgets Rick was working on that day and it made him feel at home. So he'd gladly help out, almost too eagerly ready to get whatever ingredients Rick wanted and even offering to mix or kneed or whatever.

It just felt nice to be doing something kind of normal, after how stressful this place has been so far.]

[Hey, you know? This isn't half-bad. Maybe it'll keep the kid from stabbing him in the jugular or something. Rick really kind of wants to avoid that right now. In any case, soon enough, they have pretzels out on a tray.]

Alright! There we go. P-pretzels. Just take it all in, Morty. It's - it's the fruits of my labor. They oughta call me Aun-[urp]-tie Anne.

[Let's be real, we'd have to worry about Rick stabbing Morty first when it comes to who-stabs-who between these two.]

Yeah, Rick! They're - they look really good! [Nevermind that Morty helped and you're totally stealing all the credit here, Rick.]

Maybe we should share some with everyone else? I-I mean, unless you're planning on eating like twenty pretzels in one go.

Not in one go. But - but, you know? What have those guys ever done for us? We should have like - I dunno, a pretzel supply. Just in case shit gets bananas and we don't have food.

Yeah, okay that actually sounds like a pretty good idea. [Well I mean Morty's friends with basically all of them, but he understands Rick not wanting to be nice to them. Also fuck you you credit stealing piece of shit grandpa]
