Week 2.

WEEK 2 Two people are dead. Ken Kaneki has been murdered, Reaver has been executed - and perhaps most uncomfortably, the Conductor is proud of you all for adhering to due process. (As always, by which he means that there is a process, and you all are certainly doing it.) Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... However, once you've shaken that off, there are new things to be looked at; the previously closed-off area near the kitchen has been unlocked, and there's a new floor to be explored - consider it your reward for a job well done. [She'll just lay her hands in her lap while she's done. Having people watch her is still a little uncomfortable, but she won't let them know it by stopping. If she really objected she'd have done it after curfew.]

Did you do this a lot back home? I played the violin when a festival called for it.

Sometimes. But only for myself - I live alone.

The cats like to hear it, but they're the only ones.

It must be hard to get used to being here, then. I don't have any family with me, of course, but I do have a good number of servants at home, so...

Very. I never much cared for people's company...but most of the ones here are all right.

Do you talk much to them?

Sometimes. I'm... finding it a bit lonely here, to be honest. Going back to those dingy rooms alone and all. Granted, you and I are stuck at the end of the hall where nothing is...

I don't mind it down there. I'm used to it.

[There's an empty room on the other end now, of course. But Susan's sure nobody wants to move in there. Except Logan.]

Though really he could have given us nicer beds at least, with all the trouble he went to...

He could have improved on a lot of things. I suppose that's why he's got a suggestion box, as odd as it seems.

I'm not interested in asking him for things. As if granting petty little requests will make us forget what he's done.

...I suppose. But the whole setup is strange, don't you think? Wouldn't he want to keep us miserable, not give us the things we ask for?

What's a few little things, here and there?

The best he's provided was medicine for the Inspector, but he could hardly just let the man die outside of the rules. It'd ruin the whole experiment.

Cabanela's ill, then? Or injured? I couldn't tell.

He showed up here with a broken arm and a few cracked ribs.

[Susan kinda thought that was general knowledge by now.]

Ah... I knew that!

But I meant new injuries, of course!

[She's totally lying, isn't she]

No, nothing like that. He seems to be healing well enough. I daresay Dio is the only person who's hurt themselves lately, though I have no idea what he did to his hand.

I do worry, though. I mean, you said murder was inevitable, and then it happened not a few days later. It might not even be safe to spend the nights alone like we've all been doing. Not that I'm afraid, of course!

It should be fine if you lock your door. But I wouldn't go out at night.

Well, I suppose. I don't want to be alone with the one or two people out here that late. Still, I-- I just need to get out for a bit, that's all.

If you really must, you - can come across and get me. I don't sleep well here anyway.

[She was going to say that Elise should go armed, but...well, anyone could probably overpower her regardless.]
