Like Youko-san, yes, she's a youkai. Although, she embodies the fear of tigers rather than tigers themselves.

Why would anyone be afraid of a tiger? They're adorable.

[She's Japanese! She knows what youkai are. Just. Not quite to the extent that they're real.]

Because tigers aren't native to our home--no one knew what they were like, and had to rely on legends from the West.

And what kinda legends were they? If they were paintin' bad pictures of tigers, they're bad people! Sure, they're wild, but they're also fluffy...and their stripes are so cute...and their paws are so fat...

Not necessarily. If you'd never seen such an animal before, imagine your reaction--they're quite large, with sharp claws and locking jaws, at the very top of their food chain--and hunters provoking them probably didn't help with the impression of aggression; they can easily kill humans if pushed into a corner.

But the truth is slowly becoming more widespread...that's what makes it more difficult for her to shift into her tiger form.

Those are some of a tiger's best features...but I guess I kinda see it...even if I think tigers are great.

Oh, I share your sentiment. But it did bring her about, so it's not all bad. [ as incompetent as Shou can be she literally wouldn't have gotten anywhere without her and Bishamonten's direct support. ty tigerwife. ]

It has its advantages, but I think she's alright with losing it, if it happens. Her specialty isn't combat, anyway.

I guess you have a point...um...it sounds like youkai are really complicated. I didn't think they were real or anythin', but...

I guess it's not...impossible to believe. It's just kinda sad...you make it sound like she's losin' a part of herself.

Maybe I don't understand...I just think it'd be sad to lose any part of myself. But if she's okay with it, that's the important thing, right?

Well, it's a bittersweet feeling, but we've more important things to worry about, anyway. As long as she has Lord Bishamonten's blessing, the physical prowess of a tiger isn't absolutely needed.
