Didn't we just do this last week?

[It's starting to look like this is going to be a weekly occurrence.

Just like last week, Cabanela waits a while before he makes his rounds, writing everyone quick notes and sliding them under each occupied door.]

Stay strong.
If you don't want to be alone tonight, meet in the dining hall.

[Like last week, Cabanela hasn't bothered to provide anyone with food-- that would just be... rude right now, he thinks. Upon first entering, you'll notice that there are now four lit candles in the center of one of the tables.

Feel free to leave mementos for the dead; it's probably appreciated.]

That would just be unacceptable on every conceivable level, so it's something I can't stand for.

I suppose I should take what I can get in that respect; I'm willing to guess my likely conversational partners are going to be limited after that spectacle. It'll be a terribly long and tedious confinement if I'm expected to simply talk to myself.

[in other words, 'y'know what you're actually kind of okay']

Hmmm... it's difficult to say about that, really. It's a lot easier to avoid conversation with someone when you aren't locked into a relatively small space with a certain number of people that seems to dwindle as time goes on.

...granted, I'm sure somebody's going to try and moralize at you sooner or later, if that's the case.

Oh, I'm used to the absurdly moral people who think it so easy to stand on what they think is the high ground. My brother was just like that. It's quite easy to disregard, after hearing it so wearily often.
oftheland: (oh was that your mom)

Well, it's... easy for them, I guess. Whatever floats their boat is fine, but at the same time, they must realize it has to bore the hell out of other people, don't they...?
midnightsea: (oh don't you see what i mean)

Some of them are just too stubborn to realize not everyone wants to go along with such cliche storybook morality. They'll hold to that unfailing kindness until the day they die, just to be as frustrating as possible.

It's really true, isn't it? Though... I feel like if someone can actually back up their stubbornness with actual skill and hold to it... well, they're not going to get me to change my mind about things, but I can definitely respect that.
