It doesn't matter where you last were or what you were doing. What matters is that you're waking up in a decently comfortable bed in a room that's completely unfamiliar. You may feel a bit groggy, like you've slept for too long, but that will fade in time. Welcome to Graceside Preparatory Academy. You may want to pick up the key to your room before you leave, though don't worry. Your door won't lock automatically so you won't be locked out if you've forgotten to pick it up. The hallway outside your room is most likely full of other confused students by now and should you turn around to look at the door of the room you just left, you'll find a nameplate with your name printed on it. There's a single word underneath it with no explanation. This is your title, but don't worry about that right now. Depending on when you left your room there may be a clock chiming in the foyer up ahead. It seems like it's seven, though it's difficult to tell if it's seven in the morning or seven at night. There aren't any windows, after all. Should you venture into the room with the clock, you'll find that the only exit is closed - there's absolutely no way to break down that steel bulkhead. It looks like you're stuck in here for the time being. The foyer also holds some very interesting information. There's a bulletin board with twenty-nine pictures on it. Beside each picture is some very specific and very familiar information. Feel free to examine it. The bulletin board is large enough for plenty of you to gather around and gawk. Don't try to get at it though, that glass in front of it is very thick. If you try to break it, you'll find out the hard way that it's shatterproof. Sorry about that. Perhaps even more of a concern than the glass is the list beside the profiles. It looks like a set of rules. You might want to examine those, though they're not providing much of an explanation for why you're here or how you got here. So relax and get to know your fellow students. You might be stuck here for awhile.

[ He's gone back to pacing again, but he seems a little less actively angry... though he usually looks mildly pissed no matter what, so. ]

Yeah, I think so. I mean, look at how the thing is placed... This was probably moved here from the inside of the building. [ Because it's pretty large, he feels like it's unlikely that it was moved from the outside through the door and placed there. ] So logically... there's probably another way to get in and out. Right?

[samsa]

There has to be.

[If not somewhere that they can't get to, he has a hard time believing that this place has one door and one door only. His voice drops a little, not that he thinks anyone's actively listening to them, but...just to be safe.]

If we're really allowed to roam this building, then there's nothing saying we can't look for another exit.

Yeah, makes sense. Whoever set this up must be cocky as hell if they're letting us explore freely, that's the sort of thing that can be taken advantage of.

[ Bakugou knows that all too well... haha... ha... ahhhh. ]

[samsa]

I haven't tried to look around much further than just the hallways and this foyer, but...we should be careful. Who knows what else is around in this place.

Yeah... after all, somebody put us here. And I dunno about you, but I think I'm pretty fucking hard to kidnap, so they gotta have some tricks up their sleeve.

[samsa]

[Kaneki nods, shifting his weight from one foot to the other as he looks back at the steel bulkhead.]

A lot of people here are, I'm sure.

[It's about now that Kaneki realizes he's been talking to everyone without ever...properly introducing himself, even though they all can get a vague knowledge of one another from those profiles. It doesn't feel right.]

You're...Katsuki-san, right?

Yeah. And you're... Acquiescent.

[ Look, he's bad with names, but the important thing is he identified Kaneki... right? ]

... Now that I think about it, that's not exactly a great adjective to have here. [ Not as bad as volatile, though... ]

[samsa]

[He nods slightly, though he frowns at the title.]

Yeah. I don't...really like it, either.

...you can call me Kaneki, though.

Yeah, I kinda fucking hate my adjective too. [ Yet he keeps calling everybody else by their title... ] It's kinda creepy that we even have them at all.

[samsa]

What do you think they're supposed to be for?

Well, it sure feels like it's to make fun of us. Although maybe the guys with like, gilded or unbreakable or adroit feel differently.

[ Meanwhile, here he is with a descriptor that sounds like it was ripped from an extremely unflattering psych eval. ]

[samsa]

I'm sure they do...

[He trails off, glancing away for a moment.]

Do you feel like yours is accurate at all?

[If he's honest with himself, his...does have some truth in it. The Conductor just decided to pick the worst sort of descriptor for reasons he can't fathom.]

[ For a few moments, Bakugou looks like he kind of wants to strangle somebody, possibly himself. ]

I guess I can see where it comes from.

No, I...I understand what you mean. It isn't really fair to give just a handful of us titles that are so...

Right?! And I mean, like, what the fuck is the actual difference between "volatile" and "dynamic", huh?! [ One sounds nicer and that is it, in his humble opinion. ] While I'm at it, what the hell's with all the vague ones, too... temporal? Universal?

[samsa]

[Kaneki shrugs, running a hand down the side of his face.]

Your guess is as good as mine. I'm sure it's some sort of judge of their character, not that it makes much sense.

I'd kinda hope we're all temporal, but yeah... I just wonder if it's all for shits and giggles, or if there's an actual meaning to it.

[samsa]

It feels like they could be important, maybe...if only because they're all very specific.

[And most are pretty big words, now that he thinks about it. If he wasn't such a literature buff, he doubts he would have known what Acquiescent meant.]

[blazeit]

Yeah, I feel like somebody doesn't go through the effort of assigning us names for no damn reason. Even if that reason is having a seriously bad personality.

[ Wow. Look at who's talking about bad personalities. ]

[Kaneki tries not to, but he smiles a little at that.]

Yeah. I'm sure we'll find out their purpose eventually...even if it ends up taking a while.
