It keeps happening

[After that horror show of an execution, Mordecai is still restless from the investigation and trial. He has too much pent-up energy, and plenty of others are sure to be upset, too. Ashley was loved by nearly all of them, the trial was mentally draining, and that execution was crueler than it should have been.

Two hours after everyone has returned to their rooms, they'll find a note slipped under their doors.]

We can't go on with empty stomachs. There's food in the kitchen, and the dining room is always open if you need someone to talk to.

Please keep anything outside of eating and civilized conversation away from the dining hall. That room is meant to be a peaceful place for those of us that need it.

[Today, there's cream of tomato soup warming up on the stove with a set of bowls besides it. It's a more mindless dish to prepare than mashed potatoes, as much as Mordecai wants to vent his frustrations on the potatoes.

He decides to follow Cabanela's tradition and lights one more candle, and after some consideration, lights a sixth. Let those who cared about either girl pay their respects.]

Do you have weird dreams sometimes? You gotta, right?

Yeah. They make no sense. I heard some people saying they were memories, but I don't know if that's true or not.

[ And he doesn't really want to believe that. ]

Yeah, who knows around here? The Conductor is a lunatic.

[ he shakes his head. ] This is all nuts. Why'd we even get sucked into this anyway?

That's what I want to know.... Why is he doing this to us? Does he get enjoyment out of this?

[ He probably does.... ]

Ugh, God. [ Gross. Marty's nose wrinkles. ] probably does. Asshole doesn't deserve the air he breathes.

I just hope he's not hurting our folks.

Me too... There's a lot of people I've promised to protect. I can't fail them here.

Your kingdom...? So, ah, wait. Are you like a prince or something? Like a Disney prince?

A Disney prince? I'm way too average for that.

[ His friend Wolfram is more like a Disney prince... ANYWAY. ] I'm a king, actually...

So I'm guessing you try to do more than find your future son a lady who can wear glass slippers right?

Yeah... I mean, I do more paperwork than anything else.

[ There's a small pause. ] I think my daughter wouldn't be interested in glass slippers or anything like that anyway.

Jesus is that al you do? [ he wrinkles his nose. ] Don't you fight people or something? Like sword fights, or duels, or...?

It's a lot of what I do actually... But I have been in a couple of duels!
