Looks like this will be a weekly thing

[This whole week has been awful. This whole experience has been awful. Mordecai wants to go straight to his room and deal with his frustrations, but that's not what a mayor does. A mayor takes charge, a mayor fixes what's wrong, a mayor makes things better. Even if he can't do everything on his own, he's has to do something.

Two hours after the end of the trial, the living will find another note slipped underneath their doors.]

There's cookies in the kitchen. The dining room is ready for anyone who needs a quiet place to talk it out. I'll be in the bar if you need a drink, alcoholic or something more appropriate for the underage crowd.

[There's a pile of warm chocolate chip cookies in the kitchen. Two more candles are lit at the memorial - one for the victim, one for the culprit - and Mordecai has left a pile of blankets from the storage room on one of the dining room tables.]

[ He shakes his head. ] It's fine. I thought I'd bring a few out to make sure everyone got one. Comfort food like this helps sometimes.

[She takes a nibble out of her cookie. Soft, sweet, just how she liked it. It's almost like she was this close to recalling her favorite kind...]

...I wonder if the other me liked cookies like this. Maybe.... I hope so.

[Because it's a good cookie.]

[swirlied]

[ He chuckles. ]

I'm sure you did. Cookies are great.

[charcoalfeather]

They are! I wonder if there's any in my world. It's nice that we have them here, at least.

[She frowns.]

Isn't it a little weird?

[swirlied]

[ He tilts his head to the side. ]

What?

[charcoalfeather]

Well... you see, the Conductor chose to give all these things. Like, cookies, and all the other things in the kitchen.

[She looks down at her cookie. Crumbs fell off under her fingers.]

...We have... all of these nice things, because of him. And it's all for this "exercise."

[swirlied]

[ He pulls his cookie away from his mouth, deciding not to take another bite for now. She does have a point. ]

Now that you mention it... It's weird he would go through all this trouble to make sure we're comfortable while also causing all of these horrible things to happen. Why does he bother?

[charcoalfeather]

It doesn't make sense. If we didn't have to do this terrible exercise... this place could be really nice. But he still makes us kill people because it's what he wants.

[Or it's his orders. She's not really sure who is running this show anymore. Not to say that she ever was.]

...Do you think... maybe this building wasn't supposed to be for this test?

[swirlied]

[ He pauses, thinking. He'd never thought of that before. ]

You know, that's possible. Some of the stuff Ashley mentioned made it seem like all of this wasn't planned from the beginning. At least that's how I heard it.

[charcoalfeather]

Yeah, and Cabanela learned that the building is supposed to be really old. So, maybe it really wasn't for this before we got here.

[But then.... that raised so many questions.

Rakka's head fell forward a bit, her face scrunched in confusion.]

It's so confusing....

[swirlied]

Yeah... [ He sighs, making a confused face of his own. ]

I feel like the more we learn the more confusing everything gets.

[charcoalfeather]

Sometimes it feels like we're never going to figure it out. [Bluuuh. She didn't want to be in such spirits, but the week was hard on her.]

[swirlied]

I'm sure we'll get there. It might take some time, though, but there's no way all of us couldn't figure everything out.

[ Leave it to Yuuri to be positive. ]

[charcoalfeather]

[It's a heck of a thing when a demon king is trying to get an angel to be positive... and generally succeeding. Rakka wasn't sure what to say, beyond trying to thank him for being like this.]

Y-you're right! We can do it, if we all work together.

[Leave it to Rakka to believe in teamwork.]

It's like it's... a puzzle!

[ He nods, glad she's doing her best to be positive. ]

Yeah! And all puzzles have to have a solution, so we'll find it.
