Resistance Meeting 4: Live Free or Resist Hard

[ Early Saturday morning, long before the meeting could reasonably be expected to take place, there's a fresh note slipped under everyone's doors:

Please bring as many letters from the Conductor as you saved. Not only yours, but those of the deceased, if you have them/COULD find them. We NEED to compile what we know.

In the hopes of easing any understandable reluctance, every letter brought grants you the right to hear one of my secrets/embarrassing stories at your leisure.

Wow, that must have been a pain to write 10 times... let alone 26, just in case anyone else has been playing musical rooms. Or maybe Youko had insomnia last night. Who knows? What matters is that she'll be in the Conference Room from 9AM onwards, nursing a cup of that Anteiku Coffee and writing things sporadically into a notebook from time to time. She's... also still wearing Logan's spare goddamn clothes, because apparently that is going to be a thing.

But hey: at least there's two large plates piled with biscuits/cookies and the fancy candies from the kitchen! As well as 11 plates because we are not savages, oh my god. ]

[ After a brief delay, Youko finishes what she's been working on - her letters from the Conductor, with her own added notes giving the gist of what she'd originally written. ]

Here: I'm good if we want to start with mine.

[Susan shows up at the meeting with a rather thin stack of letters. She's written the Conductor a bit, but honestly doesn't have the patience for it that a lot of people seem to. She's also stuck that sheet music from him in there if anyone cares to see it.

More importantly to her mind, she also has three leather-bound books - red, green, and blue. She lays all of this on the table, setting the stack of letters to one side so that she can lay all the books side-by-side.]

I found these in the office. The green one's some kind of ledger - it looks like military spending to me? A lot of weapons. The blue one's got profiles on people, and I'm pretty sure we're included. Most of it's blacked out though.

The red one is about human experimentation.

Human experimentation? What sort? Do you mean it's what was done to take our memories, or something else?

[Also here's Hibiki's letters! Susan will just leave them on the table.]

Maybe. It doesn't mention memories in particular, but there's brainwashing techniques in there. And just plain torture.

That's vile. It must be that, then. Doesn't that change what you think?

It's supposed to. I don't think it's ever been proven that you can do anything like this with it - but my world hasn't got shadow monsters either. So it really doesn't matter.

We were all in good shape when we first woke up though, if we'd been tortured or drugged beforehand. Excepting the Inspector, of course.

Strange. Then who else could it be referring to? The previous class?

Maybe. Or we were just given time to recover first. Though in that case, Cabanela's injuries should have healed...

This doesn't make any sense at all. What about the rest? What isn't blacked out in the blue book?

Not much. The only thing that's left is the odd reference to appearance and abilities - there's one I'm sure is Dio, and this other is probably Tabby.

[There's some pretty indicative mentions of child soldiers too, but Jean is literally sitting right here. She leans forward, offering the blue book.] You can look at it if you like. There's enough there for at least one group besides ours.

[She takes it carefully and leafs through it.] I'll agree with you on that... but why are some of these entries entirely censored? Some of the indicators are just things like gender, height, hair colour. Those could apply to anybody.

I don't know. I tried to figure out who among us those might be, but there's not enough information in the other ones to really narrow it down.

And of course, they might be people we don't know at all.

Maybe people who would be very identifiable just with that? Though I can't imagine how, unless there are photos around the school.

So he put his own associates through that. But I thought the creature was his "associate."

His new associate, maybe.

I'm starting to wonder... Maybe the torture in that other one was done on them, not us. To make them do something. Or maybe it was done on him.

I found some of Mordecai-san's letters! [drops letters on the table.]

Oh, so there is a morgue? I'm somewhat surprised he isn't just feeding the corpses to that shadow thing of his.

[given what happened to Logan and Dio, anyway.]

...Do you mind if I take a look at that red book, by the way?

That could be. A shame we can't ask, now. Although if someone were to give us some kind of sign, that could hardly be considered our fault.

[Just in case anybody's listening. Ahem.]

They could also be future plans. The Inspector and I had wondered if this whole thing weren't some way of finding...new recruits for that organization of his.

[She hands it over.] There's something about genes in there, too?
