Week 4.

WEEK 4 Ashley Williams and Asuka Langley Shikinami have joined the ranks of the deceased. Two more deaths, two more people whose absences will be felt by the group; a bit over one-fifth of the Participants are dead. And this week, it seems everyone is feeling it. They say three times can be considered a routine, and the fourth week of the exercise isn't breaking pattern any. Saturday can be given to rest and sleep; on Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock. There are no more bodies, no more bloodstains; there's nothing else to be found this morning. Unless, of course, you count whatever you found last night, strange dreams or otherwise. Once again, there's a new floor to explore; after everything that trial decided to be yesterday, you deserve the reward. And for the second time, there are rule changes, effective immediately. Ah, hello, Hibiki!

[Elise seems... happier, anyway, though she definitely didn't look like it earlier.]

Have you seen these game books? The ones with the dice and the character sheets. King Logan's familiar with the style of game and I wanted to see who else knew about them.

[Well, if her absence doesn't indicate Hibiki is unhappy, nothing well. But it's night, and she can muster a smile for Elise. It's genuine, even, albeit weak. Elise isn't a bad person.]

Heya! I haven't seen those yet...can you show 'em to me? This is my first time up here.

[Meaning, yes, she's been in her room all day.]

Of course! Now, which one was he looking at... I think it was this one. [Out comes a knockoff-D&D rulebook.] He said it was a game where you all create a story, led by one person crafting scenarios?

A game where you craft stories? I was kinda hopin' this place would have Uno!

[Because anime references Uno sometimes and Uno is more serious than a murder trial.]

How do you play it? ... ...Why's it look like a lot of reading?

These are the rules. I know it's a lot of thick books to read, but I'm assured it's playable regardless... I'm not sure about card games, though.

Eh? Are you actually plannin' on reading all of them, Elise? That's really impressive! It sounds like somethin'...

...it sounds like somethin' Ashley would do.

...it does, doesn't it. [sigh] I suppose that's why I thought to agree to try it out.

Well, maybe...maybe I can skim a little...

[She's willing. For Ashley. But at the same time, that is an impressive tome.]

We'll all be learning as we go, anyway, if enough of us agree to start up a game. I've certainly never seen one like this before.

Are other people talkin' about playing, too? I could do with some more group activities...

King Logan brought up the idea. Apparently, it's similar to a game he used to know. He likes doing all the administrative work.

[King Logan, huh? He liked Ashley, but he still yelled at Hibiki during the trial.

On second thought, it's probably too much for someone like me...maybe I should keep lookin' for a card game. You'd play one of those with me, right?

Of course! I know a few of those. Enough to keep myself amused, in any case. The types you play with playing cards, like 21 or War?

Mm! I think. With hearts and spades, right? I don't know those games, but there are plenty I do know!

[Look, is war even a game, you just take turns flipping cards.]

What sorts do you know?

[Better than Pain, which is just Old Maid where the loser gets injured at the end.]

Let's see...I know how to play Pig's Tail! And there's Old Maid [Pain would be fun though lbr], Go Fish, Poker...I'm not really good at that one, though!

I'm fairly familiar with a few of those, in any case. Perhaps we can ask some of the others, if it's less complicated than a tabletop game.

Mm, mm! A card game night would be really fun, hehe. But...I wouldn't expect to find people really jumpin' at the chance to play with me.

Are you serious? You're one of the only sensible ones in here. Everybody thinks you're a saint, I'm sure.

Were you listenin' to the same trial I was?

Yes. Regrets or not... [sigh] Well, it doesn't matter now. We're still just stuck here.

Elise, do you...think I was wrong? Killin' someone who trusts you completely...that's the worst of the worst, right?

...It is, isn't it? We're not cut out for this place. Living normal lives at home. I don't know if I can even go back now. And what's gone on in here...

That's a scary thought, isn't it? That some people here are kinda used to it..or just better at it. It's not somethin' anyone should have to go through. I'm not even sure if they'd let me be an idol after gettin' out of here.
