trustfell | Week 4.

WEEK 4
Ashley Williams and Asuka Langley Shikinami have joined the ranks of the deceased. Two more deaths, two more people whose absences will be felt by the group; a bit over one-fifth of the Participants are dead.

And this week, it seems everyone is feeling it.

They say three times can be considered a routine, and the fourth week of the exercise isn't breaking pattern any. Saturday can be given to rest and sleep; on Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock. There are no more bodies, no more bloodstains; there's nothing else to be found this morning. Unless, of course, you count whatever you found last night, strange dreams or otherwise.

Once again, there's a new floor to explore; after everything that trial decided to be yesterday, you deserve the reward.

And for the second time, there are rule changes, effective immediately. You might want to take note of them.

...It is, isn't it? We're not cut out for this place. Living normal lives at home. I don't know if I can even go back now. And what's gone on in here...

That's a scary thought, isn't it? That some people here are kinda used to it..or just better at it. It's not somethin' anyone should have to go through. I'm not even sure if they'd let me be an idol after gettin' out of here.

Your agency's got rules against murder school now?

No...but it'd be one heck of a unique scandal! Betcha no one's ever heard anythin' like it.

I've heard of rules against dating and even rules against being seen in a public washroom, but that seems like a little much.

You're not wrong. In Namuko Pro, there's no clause about datin', but it's an important part of the job. I'm not interested in love.

Love might be nice... But it would have to be absolutely perfect, don't you think? Or it isn't worth the time.

W-why are we talkin' about this?! I...I don't know anythin' about love! That's what my dream was about last night.

Your dream? Really? Mine was just about a farm inspection.

Mm. It was about me gettin' a big role...my biggest! If it's real, anyways. But it means playin' a girl who's miserably in love...always left behind, always yearnin' for her special someone...and him comin' back to see her.

...there's no way I could play that role!

There isn't? You seem talented enough to do it, even if it isn't something you've done firsthand.

W-well, I do have the talent! There's nothin' I can't do!

Elise, can you teach me...what does love mean to you?

Love? It means... well, it's something a person dreams about being absolutely perfect. You think about the kind of person you'd like to be with, who's good enough for you, who will help you when you need it, who looks at you and thinks "yes, this is the one," instead of looking for somebody better. Somebody who belongs in your world. Or maybe you start to feel you belong in theirs.

I'm not sure, but that makes sense to me.

That's...that's a good definition of love! You're really mature about it!

Mature? [Elise pauses and turns a bit red.] Y-you are just saying that, right? I mean... I apologize. Most people would call someone like my elder sister "mature," and I've always been "cute."

I'm not just sayin' it! That's a multifaceted way of thinkin' about love! It's not just about likin' someone, you made it sound really deep! ...Right? Besides, you seem more "elegant" than "cute" to me!

Ah... Well, of course you'd say that! I am a lady, after all, and if we're to be stuck in here, one must be composed and think about what's really important!

Besides surviving murder school... I suppose it's being happy, really.

...Are you happy? It's kinda hard here, huh?

I'm... afraid. I shouldn't be, and I don't want to look like it, but it's hard not to be.

I get scared, too. [But even Elise, who is so composed gets scared? Hibiki should have known that.] Sometimes, I have lots of trouble sleepin' because of what we've seen.

Neither of us belongs here, do we? We aren't fighting or hiding from some enemy. We're influential, of course, but... we're ordinary, at the same time.

I still think it's weird that some people seem to kinda belong more than others, but...we have to try, too. It's our lives on the line. And I don't want anythin' to happen to either of us.
