boys and girls of ev'ry age~

[ With all the hubbub Aligula's been up for few weeks now and especially today, it should really, really not be a surprise that closing in around the evening, flyers start appearing pretty much everywhere, in true Aligula tradition.

There's an extra notice slipped under everyone's doors as well: i made costumes and you're not allowed to tell a ghost story unless you wear one!!!! they'll be in the bar with everything else so don't worry it's all taken care of~~~~ ♥

...yeah.

8pm sees the bar decorated with a lot of toilet paper—mummies were here, obviously—as well as cut-outs of cats, bats, ghosts, owls, and a few freaky looking things that are probably native to Aligula's world. Additionally, the bar counter is laden with dozens of treats, ranging from slightly overdone cookies (sugar, chocolate chip, double chocolate chip, snickerdoodle) roughly shaped like popular Halloween motifs like bats, ghosts, and something attempting to be a pumpkin; thumbprint cookies with some sort of raspberry jelly on them that's a little too sweet, thick, and sticky; to somewhat lopsided chocolate and vanilla cakes, topped with whipped cream frosting and mixed berries. There's hot chocolate and water for people who prefer not to take any of the alcohol that's naturally in the bar, and...

True to her notice, there are costumes laid across several tables and chairs that have been pushed together: bedsheets with fancy embroidery around the hem for some expensive-looking bedsheet ghosts, witch costumes, robes for every monster occasion, cat-ear headbands + tail combination and a marker for whiskers, the same except dog-themed, black capes with red insides for vampires...

If you told her a preference and let her measure you, your costume set aside with a piece of paper with your name attached to it! If not, well. Bedsheet ghosts and capes are one size fit all, though she attempted to eyeball (ha) most everyone, so maybe one of these other ones fit you? Or maybe you don't care and you're not going to tell a ghost story anyway, so whatever.

The ghost stories, by the way, have their own little throne—there's one table pulled away from the others that's covered with a blanket and has a pillow and a few of those cute Cerberus plushes that come out of the machine with it. Take a seat and share something spooky—tis the season in this room, after all. ]

I think pumpkins are emptied before they're carved. [Or are they? She has no idea] I'm not sure. I know someone who could tell me for sure, but thankfully she's not here. She's a fan of this type of celebrations.

Still, that sounds extremely messy.

[And he does not like mess.]

I think several people here are fans of these kinds of celebrations, and since they are from a more modern time than me, they might know more about the pumpkins. I am a little...behind the times.

Ah, right, you're from the dark times before the invention of the toaster. [Not medieval like Adelina, but close enough] What kind of stuff do you have in your time?

[She gets a flat look.]

Smallpox, corporal punishment, and casual xenophobia mostly.

So you really come from the medieval times. How unfortunate...

[Enjoy the joys of modern appliances while you can, Luca]

Yes, I will definitely miss the laundry machines when I get back.

[He's talking shit right now btw]

At least you have magic -- leaving aside the part about being unlicensed. That almost compensates the awful time you live in.

[...does it? Hell if she knows]

[He lets out a little snort.]

Almost, I suppose. I cannot say that I won't miss such readily-available electricity, though. We have it, but it is very expensive and usually limited to the rich and businesses.

I think Schnee-san can help you with that. Apparently in her world there's that could power electricity and sounds like it's very abundant. If there's a chance, maybe she could give you some...dust, was it?

[You already do magic ilegally, why not to have electricity ilegally?]

...Power from dust?

[That is definitely magic yes.]

And here I thought we had to use large machines to generate power.

No, apparently they come from little crystals. They'd be more convenient to carry. Of course I doubt it'd be as simple as sticking the plug into the crystal, but it's worth checking, isn't it?
