boys and girls of ev'ry age~

[ With all the hubbub Aligula's been up for few weeks now and especially today, it should really, really not be a surprise that closing in around the evening, flyers start appearing pretty much everywhere, in true Aligula tradition.

There's an extra notice slipped under everyone's doors as well: i made costumes and you're not allowed to tell a ghost story unless you wear one!!!! they'll be in the bar with everything else so don't worry it's all taken care of~~~~ ♥

...yeah.

8pm sees the bar decorated with a lot of toilet paper—mummies were here, obviously—as well as cut-outs of cats, bats, ghosts, owls, and a few freaky looking things that are probably native to Aligula's world. Additionally, the bar counter is laden with dozens of treats, ranging from slightly overdone cookies (sugar, chocolate chip, double chocolate chip, snickerdoodle) roughly shaped like popular Halloween motifs like bats, ghosts, and something attempting to be a pumpkin; thumbprint cookies with some sort of raspberry jelly on them that's a little too sweet, thick, and sticky; to somewhat lopsided chocolate and vanilla cakes, topped with whipped cream frosting and mixed berries. There's hot chocolate and water for people who prefer not to take any of the alcohol that's naturally in the bar, and...

True to her notice, there are costumes laid across several tables and chairs that have been pushed together: bedsheets with fancy embroidery around the hem for some expensive-looking bedsheet ghosts, witch costumes, robes for every monster occasion, cat-ear headbands + tail combination and a marker for whiskers, the same except dog-themed, black capes with red insides for vampires...

If you told her a preference and let her measure you, your costume set aside with a piece of paper with your name attached to it! If not, well. Bedsheet ghosts and capes are one size fit all, though she attempted to eyeball (ha) most everyone, so maybe one of these other ones fit you? Or maybe you don't care and you're not going to tell a ghost story anyway, so whatever.

The ghost stories, by the way, have their own little throne—there's one table pulled away from the others that's covered with a blanket and has a pillow and a few of those cute Cerberus plushes that come out of the machine with it. Take a seat and share something spooky—tis the season in this room, after all. ]

My instincts on knowing how to be ridiculous are pretty good. Just ask anyone else who knows me and they'll agree.

[ Too bad they can't put the photo elsewhere but the GHS, or maybe they can, but that sounds like it'd be a complicated process he'd rather not get into right now. ]

Well, I'm sure I'll blow your expectations our of the water. I tend to do that anyway.

[ Anyway...he recalls that name Rideaux just mentioned being listed on his dislikes on his profile, so consider him curious. ]

Who's Julius by the way? Some kind of work associate of yours?
evilfrenzy: (♟ you know what f u julius)

[personal profile] evilfrenzy 2017-10-07 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
[Unfortunately, getting the photo off the GHS is going to be pretty much impossible. Unless they get out of here, anyway.

Ah... Rideaux's good mood seems to dissipate a bit. There's a good reason why that name is on his dislikes, after all.]

Yes. When I was recruited into the DODA, Julius was the only other Chromatus user around my age. We often worked missions together, and we developed a bit of a rivalry to outperform one another. [Which...yeah, they were competing to see who could destroy the most fractured dimensions. It's fucked up when you think about it hard, but it was just something they had to do.] In recent years, things have...greatly soured, to put it lightly.

[ He figured, but hey, it's better late than never to ask. He almost asks about the abbreviation, but thanks to their previous discussion about Dimensional Affairs, he's able to make a wild guess. ]

Is it because he showed his ass later on?

[ ... Yuri Lowell, ever the paragon of phrasing things elegantly. ]

And, wait, I don't think I've heard of the term 'Chromatus user' before. Does being one have to do with the traveling through the dimensions and stuff?
evilfrenzy: (♟ can we not)

[personal profile] evilfrenzy 2017-10-07 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
[For what it's worth, it gets him to laugh. It's a bitter laugh, but a laugh nevertheless.]

Good guess. He certainly did, by potentially screwing me over.

[If Yuri isn't watching Rideaux's face all that closely, he might notice that his hands are balling into fists. Like many things, there is much more to this story.

He manages a deep breath to calm himself somewhat.]

Yeah. It's the ability that I've told you about. It is called the Chromatus, and it is something that descendants of the bloodline chosen for the test have the potential to be born with. Julius and I both possess it.

[personal profile] hesperos 2017-10-08 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
[ Yeah, he'll notice, and because Yuri's admittedly biased, only having heard things from Rideaux's side, he suddenly doesn't have a good opinion of this "Julius". He knows that's maybe not the best way to go about thinking things, but until he's proven otherwise, that's just how it's gonna be. ]

He did, huh? Hope he gets a taste of his own medicine soon enough, then.

[ Anyway... ]

So you guys were chosen to do that "test"--and you know what, now that we're talking about this stuff again...I was kind of wondering how long they expect you guys to "prevent the one million fractured dimensions" thing from happening? It can't be for forever they're making anyone born with that power do that, right?
evilfrenzy: (♟ ugh feelings)

[personal profile] evilfrenzy 2017-10-08 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
[Haha...the drawbacks of only hearing the antagonist's side... But in Rideaux's mind, he's completely justified for being pissed off about what Julius has done.

Rideaux's expression grows a little distant at the mention of the trial again.]

It has been going on for several millennia already. Honestly...it can't go on for much longer. For the time being, the most we could do was buy time by destroying as many fractured dimensions as possible. But we can no longer keep up with the amount being created. We have been pushing to complete the trial.

[ Fun times all around!

Anyway, he's listening rather closely, and... huh. ]

So, wait. There's a way to put a stop to it? How're you guys gonna complete the trial, then?
evilfrenzy: (♟ can we not)

[personal profile] evilfrenzy 2017-10-08 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
[...]

This isn't really the sort of thing I want to discuss here.

[Here, meaning with people around to eavesdrop. Since they are currently at a party.]

[personal profile] hesperos 2017-10-08 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Right, they are.

...And just like magic, he'll just change the subject. ]

Y'know I did have a pressing question about something else.

[ He'll pause for a great amount of suspense. ]

Howl's my costume look?
evilfrenzy: (♟ not quite shaft head tilt)

1/2

[personal profile] evilfrenzy 2017-10-08 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[The subject change is appreciated. He's not flat-out refusing to talk, just...maybe not right now. Right now he wants to relax and try to enjoy whatever the hell this party is supposed to be.]

What is it? [...] Oh. I meant to comment on that, actually. You look absolutely ridiculous. But that's what this party seems to be going for, so congratulations for pulling it off exceptionally.
evilfrenzy: (♟ unimpressed)

[personal profile] evilfrenzy 2017-10-08 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[WAIT A FUCKING SECOND.]

Did...you just make a wolf pun?

[GOD.]
hesperos: (56)

[personal profile] hesperos 2017-10-08 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty good at pulling off looking ridiculous very well.

[ The time for relaxation is now!

In either news, he's giving a snort. ]

Yeah, I sure did. Pretty creative, huh? You almost didn't even catch it.
evilfrenzy: (♟ everything is fine...!)

[personal profile] evilfrenzy 2017-10-09 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
[Damn...it... He can't hold back a chuckle.]

That is terrible. Did you sit on that for a while to spring it on someone?
hesperos: (45)

[personal profile] hesperos 2017-10-09 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
[ Yes, good, laugh at his shitty puns! ]

Yep. I waited for the perfect moment too. I'm glad to see it paid off.
evilfrenzy: (♟ eyeroll)

[personal profile] evilfrenzy 2017-10-09 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, aren't I lucky to be the recipient of it. Truly, I should be incredibly grateful.

[We are at peak sarcasm levels.]

Oh yeah, totally.

[ He senses those sarcasm levels and they only amuse him!! ]
