[About an hour after the trial and subsequent execution, Cabanela makes a decision.

They need to do something, keep the morale up, however little it may be.

Under each occupied room door people will find the following note written:


In difficult times such as this, it is important to carry on.
Don't give into despair; we must preservere.
If you don't want to be alone this evening, meet me in the dining hall.

[Upon entering the dinning hall, you will find Cabanela sitting at one of the tables; he has lit two candles that are placed at the center of the table, but there's nothing else to note.

You'll have to supply your own food, since he doesn't have much of an appetite.]

I like that idea a lot! Kinda like the Kaneki Ken Library, huh? [Like named after a famous dead person, except. Murder.] I can't think of anyone else I'd rather give it to.

Yeah, exactly! It can be like a memorial.. like the Lincoln Statue but probably not as big or.. presidential. [EITHER WAY, it's gonna be a thing.]

A-anyway, thanks. Do you wanna help me set it up? I-I have no idea where to even get started, honestly.

[It sounds like a good thing, too bad a second floor has to come in and ruin everything.]

Yeah! I like the sound of that. [Ghoul or not, that wasn't the important part of the trial. He didn't deserve that.] Hm...it should be somewhere everyone can get to it, right? Maybe in the mail room or somethin'?

[Rude-ass conductor making a library after Kaneki dies...]

Yeah, I think that could work. H-he suggested in the storage room on a shelf but I dunno if anyone'd want to have to go in there for some books.

[Well, someone went into the storage room and grabbed things that Kaneki would have not asked to be used on him, so. That's awkward.]

I think the mailroom would be fine, then! You'd just need a place to put 'em all. Maybe you can use the desk from his room or somethin'? That'd work, right? It's not like we've got spare shelves and tables, huh.

[He nods.]

Think the Conductor'd let us use his desk for this? I-I don't know if there's a rule against moving furniture out of rooms or something...

It'll be fine, it'll be fine! Besides, if it makes him a little angry, that's even better.

Y-you think so? [Morty's the kind who's against making the guy holding them hostage or whatever mad but... it IS just a desk.]

U-uh in that case, then let's do it!

I'm sure of it! Let's go get it right now! I'm sure the two of us can move it together.

[Oh. Wait.]

...But the mail room's gonna be closed soon, huh? It's closed at night...it might be better to do it in the morning, huh? We probably shouldn't stuck inside of there or somethin'.

O-oh yeah.. you're right. [He was so down for doing it immediately, but getting stuck in a mailroom all night doesn't sound very appealing.]

Let's meet up at Ken's room tomorrow morning, then. We can get it ready before everyone wakes up.

I bet the Conductor's gonna sit in there and laugh at all the mail. If I could hide in there, I would, but...

That sounds like a plan! I can't wait, hehe. I hope we get more books, too!

Heh, yeah! Maybe we can ask the Conductor to give us more books instead of having to wait for the machine. They're - he probably wouldn't mind something easy like that, right?

Do you remember when he was talkin' to use for the first time over the speakers? I called him a coward, and he really didn't like it...

[She looks away, because that's not all he said. Whoo, boy.]

He said he was gonna make me first blood if I didn't shut up.

[His expression changes, looking a little shocked actually.]

Jeez - he said that to you? That's - that's taking it a little far, don't you think? [Yikes, that's pretty scary actually..]

And that's exactly why I called him a coward! He can't even answer a few questions, geez.

[She feels vindicated about her anger, to be honest.]

I'm...I'm not afraid of him, but maybe someone older should ask...just in case, y'know?

Y-yeah... I think I can agree, there. [He knows an adult but maybe they should get someone who's less.. uh.. vulgar.]

We could ask Officer Cabanela? O-or King Logan? I think either of them could get away with it without getting in trouble or anything.

Cabanela-san has been really nice! I bet he'd do it if we asked him for sure.

[She just doesn't want to be killed for randomly contacting the Conductor, especially today.]

I'm not much of a reader, but even I'm startin' to wish I had a good back around here. It's the least he can do for us.
