[About an hour after the trial and subsequent execution, Cabanela makes a decision.

They need to do something, keep the morale up, however little it may be.

Under each occupied room door people will find the following note written:


In difficult times such as this, it is important to carry on.
Don't give into despair; we must preservere.
If you don't want to be alone this evening, meet me in the dining hall.

[Upon entering the dinning hall, you will find Cabanela sitting at one of the tables; he has lit two candles that are placed at the center of the table, but there's nothing else to note.

You'll have to supply your own food, since he doesn't have much of an appetite.]

I've not seen anything like that, but I also haven't looked carefully. It's reasonable that there could be such things set and I simply haven't come across them, though I'm not sure what that would accomplish.

Well, an incentive to keep us in our rooms. That's how I thought about it, at least. ...But if nothing's happened to you and that's the answer he's giving me...hmm...

The kitchen and the mail room are locked at night; presumably to prevent one of us crossing paths with those in control of this place. Apart from that everything's the same as during the day as far as I know.

And we haven't tripped anything during the day. Okay. So why's he so devoted to us sleeping in our rooms that he made a rule about it if it's not to restrict our movement at night? If he locks up places he might go... [She's mostly talking to herself rather than Dio; she's gone into mystery mode.]

I've no idea. Maybe he just wants to be sure we're in our rooms at some point, rather than wandering about constantly.

Because he has more to worry about at night? He told me he has ways of keeping an eye on us, so maybe since he has to fix up the kitchen and get the letters... Okay. That'd make some sense.

Someone suggested this place must be monitored by cameras; if he knows I'm out at night, I presume he is in fact watching us at nearly all hours. I'd also presume he isn't working alone, as well.

He's definitely not working alone. He just about told me in one of the letters he sent.

Unsurprising. One person alone couldn't watch us constantly, least of all if they also had to be in the kitchen and mail room at any point.

...I don't know if they're helping to keep an eye on us. Just that he wasn't the one who abducted everyone.

I'm not sure how one person could abduct us all in the first place, either way.
