[About an hour after the trial and subsequent execution, Cabanela makes a decision.

They need to do something, keep the morale up, however little it may be.

Under each occupied room door people will find the following note written:


In difficult times such as this, it is important to carry on.
Don't give into despair; we must preservere.
If you don't want to be alone this evening, meet me in the dining hall.

[Upon entering the dinning hall, you will find Cabanela sitting at one of the tables; he has lit two candles that are placed at the center of the table, but there's nothing else to note.

You'll have to supply your own food, since he doesn't have much of an appetite.]

I don't know how many ghouls are like Kaneki-kun; whenever you hear about ghouls on the news, it's about them attacking and eating people. But when they're not doing that, they try to blend in with human society. They go to school, have jobs, that sort of stuff.

... Maybe I just think this 'cause I haven't experienced it myself, but... it sounds kinda like some of them just want to live normal lives.

...That's probably the case, for some of them.

Being outed as a ghoul is a death sentence. They're not allowed to live, and there are organizations dedicated to hunting down and killing them.

So basically, either ghouls hafta be okay with being an unrepentant killer or spend their entire lives running, huh. [ ... ] Or both, I guess.

... Man, I can't say my heart bleeds for them, but that sounds like it majorly sucks for everybody.

Even someone like Kaneki-kun wouldn't be shown any mercy if he was discovered. It doesn't matter if he gets his food without killing, all ghouls are the same to the CCG.

[ really, y'guys are much more sympathetic toward him than the average human being from the shithole that is the tg universe where mothers are beheaded in the streets while people watch. ]

Humanity doesn't like being prey, and ghouls have to eat to survive.

Yeah, well... like I said, I never lived it, so who the hell knows how I'd actually feel if I did. All I know is... I'm real fucking angry that somebody actually went through with rule 7.

... And not just because the rule is bullshit.

... Hard to say. The stakes are pretty fucking high, after all, and it's gonna be 26 of us working against 1 person. Somebody's gotta be able to pull off a murder and hide all the evidence in a way that none of the rest of us can figure out. Considering we're confined, there aren't a lot of options.

So I'd say... I don't think rational would try it. But I'm not counting on people to be keeping levelheaded about this shit.
