[About an hour after the trial and subsequent execution, Cabanela makes a decision.

They need to do something, keep the morale up, however little it may be.

Under each occupied room door people will find the following note written:


In difficult times such as this, it is important to carry on.
Don't give into despair; we must preservere.
If you don't want to be alone this evening, meet me in the dining hall.

[Upon entering the dinning hall, you will find Cabanela sitting at one of the tables; he has lit two candles that are placed at the center of the table, but there's nothing else to note.

You'll have to supply your own food, since he doesn't have much of an appetite.]

The letter said "not human" and "can't eat" - it wasn't hard to figure it out since it only could mean one thing.

Things like that, super-strong...not-humans [because she's not using "monster" when Undyne could pop up no no] are stories where I'm from. Or- everyone thinks they are, there's the possibility- well. It doesn't matter, it's just not where most people's minds would go first.

Where I'm from, you hear about it all the time on the news and the internet. About ghouls attacking and killing people.

If they steal from hospitals or morgues or feed off of suicide victims, they don't have to kill. I think that's what Kaneki-kun did.

He could've brought out his kagune to impale Reaver on it, but instead he grabbed the fork. I'm sure he held back so he could fight him off without killing him.

...You know, I've always been scared of "monsters," but the ones here haven't been bad at all.

You've seen the "human" side of them here, if that makes sense. Kaneki-kun loved books, he was going to major in Japanese Literature.

Yeah, I know. We talked about books together on Wednesday... He got excited when he realized I had similar interests, and... He really didn't seem like anything other than someone I'd see on campus.
