It's time for an after party!

[About an hour after the trial and subsequent execution, Cabanela makes a decision.

They need to do something, keep the morale up, however little it may be.

Under each occupied room door people will find the following note written:


In difficult times such as this, it is important to carry on.
Don't give into despair; we must preservere.
If you don't want to be alone this evening, meet me in the dining hall.

[Upon entering the dinning hall, you will find Cabanela sitting at one of the tables; he has lit two candles that are placed at the center of the table, but there's nothing else to note.

You'll have to supply your own food, since he doesn't have much of an appetite.]

Yeah? How do you suggest we do that? [ Marty may or may not be sounding like an asshole, but he hadn't heard much of anything when it came to Rick. He was too much of an asshole for him. Especially with him looking like the Doc and everything. It was kind of weird. ]

We can try and find out where this guy is. I mean, he has us at an academy, so we just gotta find his office, right?

[decrees]

[...Marty, he understands what you're doing, but now really isn't the time... His only friend just got executed, cut him some slack!! He's not going to address the first question right now, since he really doesn't want to think about anyone else dying.]

That's what I've been thinking. Someone is in the building with us, if that person in the basement was any indication.

[The person behind the glass, that is. Logan isn't sure if that's the Conductor or someone else entirely, but there was someone else down there with them.]

[heymcfly]

[ Marty can sometimes be the worst support system pretty much.

He somehow registers that Logan now answering the one question means that buttons are being pushed, and that he probably should...not push buttons. Marty rubs the back of his neck. ] Right. We'll figure it out. Okay?

...Do you want anything? Like a drink, or...?

[decrees]

[It's alright, no one's been doing good on the social front today, Marty.]

I... Yes. Some water would be nice.

[Just give him a moment to try to compose himself.]

[heymcfly]

[ Marty quickly retreats, heading to the kitchen to grab a glass of water for him. He felt absolutely awful; how else were you supposed to feel for this guy? This entire kidnapping has turned into a clusterfuck so big, nobody could describe it.

He took his time pouring a glass of water from the tap and searching for a quick snack, before wandering back out to where Logan was, if he was still there. Marty holds out the glass with a small, sad smile. ]

Here'ya go.

[decrees]

[He's still there, yes. That letter isn't looking any longer, but Logan's staring at the page intensely like he's going to find some way to start it any minute now. He's not; this isn't something he's ever going to be able to tell his sister in any sort of graceful manner.

Logan looks up when Marty returns and sets the pen and paper aside.]

Thank you.

[He'll take that, then.]

...I appreciate what you're doing. It's... very kind of you.

[heymcfly]

[ Marty notices the paper there, but he doesn't dare pry into Logan's business. It's bad enough that he's pestering him after a rather stressful day. It would be pretty damn asinine for him to go questioning his letters and stuff too.

He sits back down, unless Logan has something to say otherwise. ] No, it's okay. [ Marty tries to offer a smile. ] If I was havin' a rough time, it's what I'd want someone to do for me. What's it called...the golden rule, right?

[decrees]

[Logan has no objections to Marty sitting back down!]

...Yes. So many of you have been very kind to me.

[...]

I apologize for my behavior during the trial. I could not accuse Reaver for... obvious reasons.

[The whole "six million people will die if Reaver dies" thing.]

[heymcfly]

[ He listens quietly to Logan's apology, and he nods. ] I wouldn't be sorry. [ Marty shakes his head, letting his elbows rest on his knees as he leans forward.

It's hard to imagine it, but would Marty say anything against Doc if he was framed for something? There was no doubt in his mind that Marty would defend his friend, despite the odds. ] You were his friend. I'd do the same for my friends, too.

[ After seeing that execution, he's very happy that Doc's not here. And he hopes it stays that way. ] I don't think anyone blames you, y'know?

[decrees]

[Logan glances away at that. Yes, Reaver was his friend, though he'd never bothered to express such a sentiment while the man was alive, because he was stupid and proud and... honestly he figured Reaver would tease him relentlessly for it--

Relentlessly. Hah.]

I appreciate that. I'm sure there are those who are irritated that I didn't speak up so we could end this sooner, but... I could not act in a way that would bring Albion to ruin.

[...]

I didn't want him to die either. I never would have wanted that.

[heymcfly]

Well, don't listen to 'em. Nobody knew him better than you did.

[ Marty Seamus McFly. Not good for right now. ] ...Sorry.

What I mean is...you tried. Screw the other people who were pissed at you or whatever, but I think you did fine. You did what you thought was right.

[ He tries to make a smile. Tries. ]

[decrees]

[That... is actually exactly what he needed to hear right now. All of that. Cabanela had kept insisting that Logan didn't know Reaver very well, but...]

...I certainly knew him better than anyone here, perhaps better than anyone in Albion. He... was important to me.

[The past tense feels so viscerally wrong to use with regards to Reaver, but there really isn't any denying what happened.]

...Thank you. I needed to hear that.

[heymcfly]

[ Excellent recovery from sounding like a jackass before. Marty breaths a small sigh of relief! ]

Yeah, well. It's the truth. If anyone tries to tell you different just ignore it because it's wrong. [ He lowers his head. ] I woulda done the same as you did, and I'm pretty damn sure others here would too.

You're welcome, though. [ He offers a smile. ]

[decrees]

[Well, he's pretty sure most people wouldn't be perfectly fine sacrificing a bunch of people and themselves for their asshole friend, but Reaver's different. Very different...]

I'll be sure to keep that in mind. I... doubt there will be any here who will pester me about it.

[Except for everyone prying into his nonexistent love life, goddammit guys.]
