Week 2.
Two people are dead. Ken Kaneki has been murdered, Reaver has been executed - and perhaps most uncomfortably, the Conductor is proud of you all for adhering to due process. (As always, by which he means that there is a process, and you all are certainly doing it.) Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... However, once you've shaken that off, there are new things to be looked at; the previously closed-off area near the kitchen has been unlocked, and there's a new floor to be explored - consider it your reward for a job well done. |

[Logan pauses to look at her. His hands twitch a bit, but he doesn't reach for his gloves.]
How are you doing?
no subject
Well, I... I think I'm okay.
no subject
[That sounds like there's something else there. Logan starts playing again, something soft and slow to indicate he's still paying attention to her.]
no subject
Well, I think I've started to remember some things? About myself and back home.
[...She doesn't sound exactly excited about it, though.]
no subject
[She doesn't sound very pleased though, so was it something bad...?]
no subject
I had a dream, and it feels like it's too real to be just a dream. I was in a bed, with a fever, and there was this other girl helping me. Her name was... Reki, and she had wings and a halo just like mine!
no subject
Ah, did she? That's wonderful news. She must know more about you.
[And she must be worried sick.]
Did you remember anything else?
no subject
There's a pause that just seems to keep stretching on, even though it's only a few seconds. Rakka wasn't about to not tell Logan the truth. He was well trusted, though Rakka still had things she wanted to ask him about.]
....I remember other things. But, most of all, I remember how I got my wings.
no subject
How did you get them?
[Logan assumed that Rakka has always had them, but that's... strange. Did she grow them or...?]
no subject
The wrong note catches her, for just a second. She blinks a bit.]
....I had a fever, and it was like that for hours. Reki was there, talking to me, and trying to help me, but it's still so confusing. [Her right arm gradually wraps around her left one. Eyes turned downcast.] Apparently, it's what happens to all Haibane, after they hatch...
[all that blood and pain....]
They grew out...
no subject
[Hatch? What is Rakka?]
Your wings grew, then?
[That... sounds painful...]
no subject
Yes, I can't remember most of it... because I blacked out. But, I know it...
[Hurt. A lot. The sensation of new appendages bursting through her skin wasn't anything Rakka needed to re-experience.]
...I'm not Human.
no subject
[...that's probably not the best way to ask that question, but like hell if he can come up with a better one. Logan pauses playing to turn to look at Rakka.]
Do you want to talk about it?
no subject
[Her voice cracks on the last word, a fact that seems to surprise her. Her gaze stays at the floor, looking embarrassed, ashamed, afraid.
She's very small.]
I really don't know what I am.
no subject
[WHOOPS, WELL HE HECKED THAT UP]
no subject
For what it's worth, Rakka's managing to... not burst into tears. That's an accomplishment, right?]
...I'm sorry. I thought I was just a normal girl, nobody special.
no subject
[Regardless of what you are, though it's probably best not to say that... oh god he's so bad at this he's trying...]
no subject
And hearing that, well... damn, Logan, you're trying. You really are. Rakka sniffles, managing to meet his gaze again.]
...Do you really think so, that... I'm special?
no subject
[#trying]
no subject
"You are not the sort of person anyone could forget, Rakka."
...She hoped he was right. That's what she really wanted.]
... [A smile, and a sniffle.] Thank you very much, Logan.
no subject
[And while he's not smiling, this is probably the closest he can get right now. He really is happy to help.]
