I dreamed of a world so far from here that's not on the map
To my Fellows,
What is "good" and what is "evil" is something that can be debated for longer than most of you will ever live, as is the nature of men. These debates are without meaning in my eyes. Despite that man's belief, men are not born to be good or evil, and what flaws they have in personality or character are things that can be overcome through their choices. Both for better and, as we've seen, for worse.
Life is not without suffering, but I should hope that every one of you is loved by someone. Loves someone. Many of you probably know that some of those loved ones are entering into an experience similar to our own. The terror of that is an undeniable sword which hangs above our heads.
Do not isolate yourselves, and hold onto what belief will best inspire you. And if you wish to join us for another one of these gatherings, meet us in the dining hall at 8PM.
Sincerely yours,
Elda Marker
PS: Those who can taste will once more provide food.
[ Well that sure is a lot of words which is being put under your doors, put on the fridge, and generally distributed around. It... uh, sure is a letter? It's in the same impossibly perfect cursive as last week, and is written with an almost angry bravado. Because even if she was vindicated at the end there, she was vindicated by a (by his own admission) evil priest. So. That feels bad.
Anyway, with some effort, the dining hall (which now has a lot of candles at Cabanela's little shrine, even with adding the two more here) is filled with food: Susan's got the booze as usual but also a big pot of mac and cheese. Adelina's done her noble best with some finger sandwiches. Yuri's brought some sweets that Estelle might've made. As for Elda, well, she still basically can't cook, so what she provides instead is:
A few board games including a Settlers of Catan, Sorry, and Candyland knock off. I guess we're playing games. Or at least she's suggesting it, who knew? ]

also oh wow, cute. Aligula'll get up with her cake, screw the paper she can get more. ]
You've got good taste, Courageous! Buuut... Do you always get like this about gifts? I mean, it's a totally cute look on you, but it's sorta like, going the long way around, isn't it?
[ ya damn tsundere ]

[Opening the door a little wider so she might come out, Rin fidgets a bit. She sounded snappy and brisk a moment before, but in the pause that lingers as she glances to the side, her voice becomes smaller. Suddenly, she seems less sure.]
It's a unique situation, is all.

[ Jesus, Aligula??? She'll hold the cake out to her though, wiggling two forks at her beneath the plate she's got it on. ]
Mmmmm... Sorry about all that, I guess? Like, it's not like it's my fault, but that's a totally sad thing, huh? [ The way she says sad, though, errs closer to pathetic or something like that, rather than... sad. ] And I know you guys get really upset over stuff like that.
[ Which is... said a little quieter, not as flippant. ]

Actually, what I meant was no one's made me a cake before, for my birthday or otherwise. I wasn't expecting it.
[But yeah, all of that sure happened today too, and it's clear she's thinking about it again.]
no subject
I was gonna say, "Really, never?" but like, if Inquisitive looked after you... I totally can't imagine him baking... [ Huh. ] You don't have any friends back home who'll do this kinda stuff for you?
no subject
I chose to go to high school when I could have skipped it because I wanted a social life, but I always had to take care to keep my classmates at a distance for both our sakes.
[What with that secret of hers on the wall. If they learned she was a mage, it would end badly.]
I have a few friends, but we're not close. I don't think any of them actually know when my birthday is.
no subject
So I'm your only friend that does?
no subject
Yeah. I guess you are.
[Rin slices a piece of cake away with her fork.]
no subject
She is decidedly not thinking about what it means for other people she liked, though, ha ha ha ha who cares about the dead we living now.
She's also... watching Rin really closely. She wants to see her reaction to her cake, please like it... She did her best. It's not even that overbaked, and the frosting's actually really well-done. ]
no subject
Mm! The frosting is so creamy.
no subject
That's the easy part, honestly! And the tastiest... I always practice it while I'm waiting for stuff to bake so I like, totally have something to snack on.
[ aligula do you eat anything but sugar i'm just fucking wondering. ]
no subject
I should try my hand at baking. [Rin sighs.] We've been here for six weeks, and I've just cooked Chinese dishes, for the most part.
no subject
Ooh, Chinese sounds great... [ .....Hmmmmmm! ] Hey, if you teach me to make some of that, I'll help you with baking! How's that sound?
no subject
[...she says as she stuffs her face with cake here. She's not done with the first, but she's also helped herself to another slice. It's just one of those days, okay.]
no subject
Real convincing, Courageous. [ JUST SAYING. ] You don't have to eat sweets to enjoy making them! I'm sure there's plenty of people who'd line up to try your stuff anyway.
no subject
[Mumble mumble around the food, a little red in the face.
Honestly, she can make cookies and things just fine, but it might be fun to brush up on other sweets. Glancing aside, she seems to be thinking of what people would "line up" exactly. Maybe on a rainy day she could surprise Shirou.]
It would be a fun trade, either way.
no subject
That's the spirit! We can start whenever you want. I'm not gonna force you into the kitchen tonight or anything, since people're still up and about and like, you're obviously not here for a bunch of company and all.
no subject
If Rin were an animal, she'd be making yowling cat noises right now. As it is, she's a human so she's squeaking instead, and turning all the redder at the indignity.]
Wh— [SQUAWK.] But you think I'm here for cheek pinching instead?!
[SHE IS NEARLY DROPPING HER CAKE TRYING TO PULL BACK, IT'S JUST ONE TRAGEDY AFTER ANOTHER.]
no subject
[ aligula that's not an excuse and you know it!?!?! she's letting go though, clapping her hands together instead. ]
Soooooorry~ [ she doesn't sound sorry at all. ] Don't drop my cake or I'll totally never forgive you!
[ it'd be your fault you insufferable pink thing............ ]
no subject
Ohhh, like I haven't been humiliated enough today! Are you a queen, or some kooky aunt?!
[Rin, how does cheek pinching top having your biggest trauma dragged out and exacerbated in front of everyone, that was god awful.
Spoilers, it doesn't, Rin's just getting extra worked up about this to cover for being emotional.
Everything with Kirei was horrible, but Aligula was so nice bringing this to her. Rin's holding back tears as she straightens out her plate, saving the cake from falling on the floor. She's got the worst case of emotional whiplash right now, and can only desperately try to cover for it.
More cake. The solution to this is to definitely whine about cheek pinching, and stuff her face with more cake.]

[ .....she's grinning though, leaning against the wall here. ]
There's gotta be some kooky aunt queens out there though, right~? [ Her energy doesn't fade, but it does soften a bit. ] Even though I'm, like, not really a queen either. That's totally just a fun title of mine.
no subject
no subject
[ Maybe the world. Hahahahaaaaaaaa. ]
Queen of Courage sounds really dumb though... We gotta figure a nicer one out for you.
no subject
[So yeah, agreement there.]
