Week 9.

WEEK 9 With another death to the timer and another double murder - accidental though that last part may have been - your numbers have been cut even further. Hibiki Ganaha, Sayaka Maizono, Alex, and Kyrie Ushiromiya are all dead, bringing those left alive from twelve down to eight. It's almost hard to believe this started with thirty-five people. There are so few of you now. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... It seems that the pattern from last week is holding; there is no new floor to occupy yourselves with. It doesn't seem much else has changed, either - leading to questions that are uncomfortable but must be confronted. Namely, where do you go from here? Is there anything you can do? [ As she continues to look over the map, ]

... That's not meant to be a disparaging remark on her, not really. Rather, I just didn't ever get a good read on her. Sometimes she could be excited, most of the time she was just muted and strange. I didn't end up with any strong feelings one way or the other.

[hesperos]

[ ....... ]

Let's see how long that lasts, buddy.

[ Apparently so. Well, Yuri certainly isn't perfect.

But, since his two attempts still haven't exactly put him any closer, he is just squinting at the darts that are currently in right now. He wasn't necessarily holding back either but now he's going to be immensely more aggressive and focused with his efforts.

The third one hits closer to the bullseye this time -- just about right behind Rideaux's first throw. He's still going to need to do better than that, though. ]

[hesperos]

[ OH. Okay then. ]

I'll just. Take what I said back, then.

[ .... ]

I mean, about the person being a bastard. It's still crappy for that to have happened, though.

[hesperos]

Determination to overcome our situation I'm guessing?

[hesperos]

[ For a moment, Yuri thinks she might miss what he's saying, but... ]

...Yeah, I did. It was kinda unavoidable as I was picking it up.

[ With a finger he'll sheepishly rub his cheek for a moment. ]

[evilfrenzy]

[Rideaux will...offer a slow clap in response. Lord.]

That is better!

[...and now's about the perfect time for his overconfidence to catch up to him. His third throw lands a decent distance outside the green ring, giving Yuri an opening to catch up.

And while Rideaux doesn't say anything, because he is predictably eating his words at the moment, he does make a distressed noise short of hissing, "Shit."]

...well, that was pretty decent. I guess that would be fine, if you don't have a problem with it.

Well, yes, because I don't feel entirely like my existence is a mistake and that I should sacrifice myself to take out the Coordinators.

I just feel a bit like that.

[hesperos]

All I got from her mostly is that she didn't obviously like she was doing here. Sometimes with a bit of that she might not have known what she was really getting into. Other than that, nothing much. She was pretty hard to read for anything more personal.

[ ... ]

I also didn't have much time to get as close to her as some people did.

[ ... And, well. He'll just move on from that. ]

That aside, how's the map coming along?

Wow, thanks.

[ At the slow clap there anyway.

Yuri, of course, will snort and give a slow clap of his own at that splendid show of performance there. Nothing like pride to save the day (for him, anyway.)

Jokes aside, that means he can't exactly mess it up. This time he gives it a proper amount of focus and then he tosses it right in --

Thwack. Would you look at that, his next one happens to land straight into the bullseye. ]

[Following the group's discovery and after everyone disperses to do their own thing, Rideaux returns to room 24 for a while. Uncharacteristically though, his door is open to anyone who wants to come chat. He can be found doing a few different things in there: going over notes at his desk, organizing items from the vending machine, or finally fixing the fabric decorations that he had torn down over a week ago. There's not much point in putting them back up since they're likely coming up on the end soon, but it's something to occupy his mind with. As he fixes the red and black curtains back up near the blocked-off window, he finds himself imagining what the view is like this far down.

While it's nice to not have to worry about the timer looming over them or a corpse to investigate, with so few of them left it feels kind of stiflingly quiet. So Rideaux does set out to do some wandering for a good part of the day. He's kind of all over the place, poking around in places just to see if he can unearth anything new. In the evening, he's in the dining hall with some kind of stir fry that he made. If you ask nicely, he might just have some leftovers to share.

After nighttime sounds Rideaux makes his way to the new room with a glass of wine and some candles, and hangs out in there for a little while. He figured this would be a popular room during the day, and so his hopes are to have some time to himself to observe the view outside (of course, others may have similar ideas though). Even if his thoughts on it are conflicted, he can't deny that it's better to have some sort of proof of the outside world than nothing at all.]

...no, I do kind of deserve it. I've been doing exponentially better here than I was back home.

[LIKE...]

Which... well. Is saying a lot, considering it's murder school.

[hesperos]

[ Yuri just makes a face, like he is going to say he doesn't agree but he also doesn't want Tarrlok to prove him wrong. His occupation happened to involve being a politician after all and some of them do rather heinous shit.

Actually, though -- ]

Well, if you're doing better now you're no longer a bastard. [ Nevermind it's murder school but whatever. ] You just were one back at home, when you did whatever you did to deserve somethin' like that.

[ Well, Yuri's had a lot of time to wander all over the place and been in that new room for a bit, so he'll swing on by Rideaux's room. Even though the man had said he was fine, Yuri's power of perception is stronger in matters like these, so he figured it'd be best to check on him anyway by slipping on by. He's going to be casual about it too.

He'll peek his head in and smile. ]

Yo, Rideaux. Couldn't help but notice you had the door wide open. You planning on hosting a room party or something?

[perpend]

Certainly!

Would you like to come with?

[evilfrenzy]

[Rideaux winces at Yuri's successful throw. It's not the greatest feeling in the world to be in the lead, only to have the gap between the two of them closed in on so quickly. So Yuri may just be a lot better at this than he thought... While he normally might be somewhat impressed by this, it only fuels him to ensure that he still beats Yuri by a landslide.

With continued silence, he doesn't hesitate in making the next throw. This one is just outside the green ring. Not too bad, but it's not good enough for what he wants.

One throw left after this, and he'll need to make it count.]

[evilfrenzy]

[Rideaux turns so he can glance over his shoulder from over at the window. He's just about got the curtains back up.]

...You know, as much as I like to party [as it has been long-declared] I am not much of a party planner. Do you suppose the others would even be up for such a thing at this point?

[bloodisthicker]

[...that's not a smile. he can't quite manage a smile. but he looks slightly less miserable for a second.]

...I suppose so. I guess I should feel better about things, given that I managed to do a lot better here than I did back home, but it's still been difficult to deal with over these past weeks.

[hesperos]

Guess this is it.

[ Yuri's going to make it count as well, this is why he's going to be taking a bit for his throw, since this one is undoubtedly going to be his last. Somehow a simple throwing game became so intense...honestly, that is not all too surprising considering the two involved. After a bit of pause, he'll make his throw.

Then, it hits.

The verdict?

Just a little more literally and it would've been another bullseye, but it lands one bit out outside of the red and is by a hair's breath on the green. So, like, thanks to that there is probably less tension now (who are we kidding) ]

I haven't showered all day, so...

[hesperos]

Probably not unless it was a party that had a tagline of 'let's burn effigies of Jericho' and 'hit around pinatas with his face on 'em' -- even if we don't know what he looks like. That could be something fun I guess.

[ ... Because apparently Yuri does think up ingenious (not really) party ideas on the spot. ]

[ So like it's Saturday now. This would be the point where a murder would have happened, they would have solved it, they would be mourning and they'd be waiting for the memories to come. Elda's not even sure what she feels about any of that, and honestly with a lack of insight and a frustrating lack of results she settles into the new room. She considers feeling around it, investigating. But then, she doesn't see anything immediately amiss.

Doesn't stop her from taking all the books out one by one, flipping through them to see if they can be read, and when she finds they can't, sighing and then settling in to the window.

... That's boring, eventually, though. So she's just going to play pool at the pool table. Anyone want to join her? She's be here all day other than to go down to check for ghost messages at 3PM in the lower library like she promised to do every day. She might talk to Hilda too...? Who knows, her mood sucks. It's not awful, but ... thoughtful. And the fact her thoughts can't reach an endpoint is frustrating.

Jericho said two months. Two more months of this, sheesh. ]

[What?]

That's not funny. Don't even think about it.

You didn't have to read the whole thing! Couldn't you tell who it was meant for just from the beginning?

[Immediately after saying this she shakes her head, like his answer doesn't matter, and holds out her hand.]

Nevermind. Just give it back to me!

[bloodisthicker]

Right, I know. I'm... not going to here. I have reasons not to, but... I didn't exactly have that back home.
