Week 9.
With another death to the timer and another double murder - accidental though that last part may have been - your numbers have been cut even further. Hibiki Ganaha, Sayaka Maizono, Alex, and Kyrie Ushiromiya are all dead, bringing those left alive from twelve down to eight. It's almost hard to believe this started with thirty-five people. There are so few of you now. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; come Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock and there are no dead bodies to be found, so it can be assumed that all of you are safe for the time being. That said, you'll be feeling a little groggy when you wake up; it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... It seems that the pattern from last week is holding; there is no new floor to occupy yourselves with. It doesn't seem much else has changed, either - leading to questions that are uncomfortable but must be confronted. Namely, where do you go from here? Is there anything you can do? |

[OOC: Welcome to week nine of Trustfell! Feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend. Don't forget to save those threads for coins and the activity check!
If you'd like to get in contact with the Coordinators, you can do so through private meetings with Hilda!]

[The curtains are done, so he crosses the room to close his door (since this is likely going to get kind of personal), then takes a seat on the bed.
Now...where to even start?]
First of all, I've been wondering about something. How did things end up with your world?
no subject
After we faced off someone who was thinking of resorting to sacrificing everyone in order to defeat the Adephagos, we were able to actually put an end to the threat ourselves and pretty much save the world.
So, no need to worry there.
[ He figures that's why Rideaux asked in the first place... ]

Well, how about that. Brave Vesperia: the heroes. I would say a hearty congratulations is in order. [...] And I am glad to hear it, truly.
[He thinks back to when he asked Yuri about the most adventurous thing that he had ever done, and the amazing story that followed. He figures Yuri never imagined that sort of path for himself, but the way he talks about it, protecting the world was something to be proud of for him. Even though his experience with being put on a path to protect the world was vastly different, he's...glad, for Yuri.
His expression mellows once more, as he mentally prepares himself for where he's taking the conversation next.]
There is...another reason why I asked, though. I know that you and I both agree that Jericho's claim about our worlds holds little weight, because we were both aware of the state of our worlds. Even so- even if my world still stands...I no longer have anything to return to.
[His conflicted reaction to the outside earlier, about how similar to home it looked like, stemmed from that. While he is alive now, he is dead back there. He could return, but what is left for him? He'd have to start his life over. He...
He thinks of Sayaka's letter once more, going over its contents in his mind to press forward with the idea he has thought about all week.]
Yuri, once everything is settled here...what do you think about me joining you in your world?
no subject
Heh, I'll have to at least say thanks for the congratulations then.
[ ... There is a bit of a pause. You know, part of him had been hoping that Rideaux hadn't wanted to return home to that place that had thrown him away like trash. That they didn't deserve him, after all of that crap.
So, you know what? There's a smile here as he answers soon enough. ]
What do I think, huh? Well, there's more than enough room in my world for more people to come along, and I think you'd like it. I also don't doubt you'd be able to do something there too.
And I don't want you going back to that crappy place either, so with what I've just said I've made it clear that I believe it's one hell of a good idea.
no subject
But once he hears Yuri's answer, that all melts away. Of course. How many times had Yuri said he would be by Rideaux's side, how he would help him find his way? Rideaux didn't discount that for a second, but for it to go so far as him being fine with bringing Rideaux home with him...
Rideaux smiles too. With that answer, it feels like a great weight has been lifted off of his shoulders, and it probably shows through the appreciation in his expression. He's...happy.]
...Thank you, Yuri. You have my word that I will do all that I can. From what you've told me, it seems that I might be of use to your guild.
[It'll take a lot of getting used to though, that's for sure. While Yuri's world shares a lot of similarities with his own, the difference in technology seems massive. It would be like going to live in Rieze Maxia before the schism was lifted. That's...going to be rough. But he's more than willing to work with it. He wants this.
That last bit doesn't go unnoticed either, and it's probably the part about Yuri's answer that gets him the most. It means a lot to hear.]
I appreciate your feelings about returning to my own world. I want to think I've done enough fighting for my place in it. I want to move on, and...with your blessing, find a new place.
[To take his life back into his own hands.]

There's a pause in those thoughts though, as he notices how happy Rideaux is. After everything that Rideaux has told him, after everything they've experienced... it feels good to see that just by those words (and presumably his actions), he's done something evidently big in a positive way for him. ]
Brave Vesperia is always looking for new reliable members, so we'd be glad to have you aboard -- 'course this'll mean I'll have to introduce you to the Boss and everyone else back home so you can get acquainted with 'em real well.
[ Yuri then gives a pause, reaching a hand to rub at the back of his head a little. He's still smiling, though it's a bit more subdued, but not in a bad way. He can't tell if he feels embarrassed or perhaps humbled -- he can't remember the last time anyone would wish for them to have his 'blessing' on anything. ]
Heh, well, I think you've done more than enough for those bastards back home, and you deserve a chance to start over and this time actually live your own life without being bound to anyone else. A life where you're actually able to be happy.
I don't think I need to say that you've gotten my 'blessing' or anything like that either. Not when I've made it clear I'm more than willing to welcome you back home.
[ Though he'll give him a playful nudge. ]
no subject
That is fine with me. I am going to go out on a limb and assume that Brave Vesperia's boss is much easier to deal with anyway.
[Picture in the future: Rideaux discovering that this guild is run by a twelve year-old.
When Yuri continues, Rideaux averts his gaze and closes his eyes for a moment. Those words...are strikingly similar to what Sayaka said in her letter to him. And just like he found it when he read the letter, he feels a bit overwhelmed in this moment as well.
The nudge gets him away from his thoughts, and he looks back to Yuri with a smile.]
Listen to yourself. You are truly too good to me.
[Both of you.
He then continues:]
It seemed more appropriate than saying I was simply asking for your permission. It is quite the undertaking, after all. Though of course, I have no intention of becoming a burden to you.
[He'll work just as hard for this new life. Though...with less of a threat looming over his head.]
no subject
Oh yeah, definitely. I think you'll get along with him pretty well, actually. His name's Karol and he's also the type of boss who doesn't just sit around behind a desk all day or anything.
[ ... Honestly, Yuri never actually thought he would've even made it this far in this mess. But here he is, ready to welcome someone, who is now a good friend, straight into his world once they bust out of here. ]
... Rideaux, winding up becoming a burden to me? I think all the universes or dimensions present wherever they are would wind up ending at the same time if that ever happened.
[ Yuri couldn't help say it when the man declared his intention right there. ]
Anyway, I guess this is where I'd say something probably pretty profound or something and then we'd join our alcohol glasses to that, but since we don't have anything to drink with us right now how about you just give me a highfive and that'll do just fine?
no subject
[Once he gets over the whole twelve year-old thing.
Now it's Yuri's turn to get nudged! Rideaux's expression has returned to that smug smirk of his.]
See, that is exactly my point! Glad you agree with me.
[It's followed up by a short laugh because of that last bit. A high five...it's like being a kid again.]
We can save the next profound discussion over a drink when we're finished here. [He holds a hand up.] Skipping right past the formality of a handshake, then? Sounds about right. Here.
no subject
[ He means when Rideaux made that drank for him when he came by to visit his room.
He'll give the other man a good high-five. ]
I don't think I've ever done handshakes in a long while.
[ Like, almost never because he is not formal at all. ]
no subject
[The main alcoholic ingredient of that particular drink!
Rideaux returns the high five with gusto!]
Honestly, I'm fine with it. This seems much more like you anyway.
no subject
[ He supposed at the time he wasn't thinking too much about what type of alcohol it was. He just thought it looked and tasted nice. ]
Well, whatever...and yeah, high-fiving is totally my thing. The day that you see me offering to give anyone a handshake you may as well be watching pigs in flight or something is seriously up with me.
no subject
[Understandably, there was...a lot of other things going on at the time...
And...giving himself a chance to be cheeky-]
Oh, good to know. Thankfully you'll have a trained medical professional nearby to have a look at you.
no subject
He snorts and then moves to lazily lie back against the bed. ]
Wow, I guess I should count myself lucky for that, huh?
[ Does this mean last minute late snacks before bed are out, Dr. Rideaux? ]
no subject
[He glances down at Yuri, not quite joining him but leaning back a bit.]
Not everyone can say that they a doctor as a friend, let alone one who is always on call and will treat them free of charge.
[It sure does. And no getting injured doing unnecessarily stupid stunts!!]
