RESISTANCE MEETING

[The clock chimes at 10PM as it always does, and if you're one of the people who decided to go to the meeting, you'll find the conference room is properly set up to accommodate all 27 remaining students. If you were expecting refreshments or anything then tough luck. Logan can't cook and the kitchen's closed now.

Logan has taken the chair at one end of the table because of course he has, but he'll wait until most people are gathered before speaking up.]

I'm sure you're all aware of why this meeting is absolutely necessary after that... announcement. What we need to do is share any information we have about this place and our captor. The Conductor will answer letters, but I have not gotten anything particularly useful from him.

[Morty lets out an all knowing sigh, actually feeling pretty good that he and Logan have something to bond over.]

..a-and he got mad at me 'cause I was kinda looking out for him since, y'know, everyone hates him here. And he practically told me to go get myself killed because i-it'd be better than having to listen to me try to be a good person.

...I have no idea. I didn't think he wanted anything to happen to you.

[Rick was adamant about that when they talked over one of those letters during the first week...]

I don't know why he'd be mad at you for wanting to look out for him.

H-he usually doesn't want anything to happen to me, 'cause Mom'd kill him if anything did. It's kinda the only reason why she let's him drink and be.. terrible.

[It's not the first time he's gotten this mad at Morty before, but the first time he told Morty to go die.]

H-he said I was babysitting him which I wasn't! I just.. y'know, I knew if he said something about going to the meeting then someone'd probably tell him not to go, and something like this is important, isn't it? [He sighs, and rests his cheek on one of his hands.]

I think I just pissed him off 'cause he thinks he's so smart and great and needs to be in charge all the time.

...I would not have tolerated anyone telling him to stay behind. Meetings like this are important for all of us.

[He doesn't like Rick at all, but we're not going to get anywhere if we don't try to work together.]

I suppose I can understand why he was insulted, but you were only trying to look after him. Perhaps once you've both had some time to calm down you can discuss what happened.

Y-yeah, right. Rick's definitely gonna sit down and talk about it. I-I might even get an apology from him! [He's being sarcastic, if you couldn't tell.]

He'll probably just act like I was stupid and accept an apology from me that I didn't even give, because he's never wrong about anything.

[decrees]

...That's certainly infuriating to deal with.

[Thank god Reaver was never that bad.]

Is this something you've tried to discuss with him before? This is obviously a stressful situation and not a good time for that, but perhaps it is something you should bring up once you've returned home.

[...he's trying to be optimistic, he's trying so hard...]

He won't listen! He doesn't listen to anyone but himself! [He's a five year old in an eighty year old's body.]

But.. yeah, I guess I could try if we both make it out here alive. [There's a pause, before he just kind of. Splays himself across the table, face down onto the wood.]

W-we're gonna die here, aren't we? [It's half muffled, but audible enough to understand what he's saying.]

[decrees]

Morty, look at me.

[Come on kid, keep your head up.]

We are not going to die here. We're going to do everything we can to get out. Giving up now will do us no good. We must keep moving forward.

[mortyfied]

[He lifts his head, but just enough to where his chin is on the table, now.]

B-but two of us already died, and there's no other way out of here besides killing each other... what if someone snaps and kills us all? What if I snap and kill someone?

[decrees]

I sincerely doubt you'll snap and kill anyone.

[You're a tiny thing, please don't try to kill anyone.]

As for how we can prevent future murders, Giovanni already had some excellent ideas. While there is no way for us to guarantee that everyone will be alright, we'll do everything in our power.

[mortyfied]

[Hey wow, he's totally capable of killing someone!]

...I-I guess you're right. [Morty doesn't bother to sit up yet, he doesn't look too convinced but he doesn't want to drag the mood further down with his own insecurities.]

If we all work together, we'll make it out alive somehow, right?

Exactly. We'll continue to search for a way out. Perhaps there's something we've missed. We do have this entire floor to check.

[Maybe Jean found something while climbing the shelves, who knows.]

...yeah. Y-yeah, okay. [He finally sits up then, and gives Logan a small smile.]

Th-thanks, King Logan. Y'know, I know it was Rick's idea to have a leader and no one really agreed or anything, but I think you'd probably be the best for that job, huh? [Getting them to meet like this, raising spirits a little. Though it's no surprise Logan's good at it he's... a king.]
