Week 4.
Ashley Williams and Asuka Langley Shikinami have joined the ranks of the deceased. Two more deaths, two more people whose absences will be felt by the group; a bit over one-fifth of the Participants are dead. And this week, it seems everyone is feeling it. They say three times can be considered a routine, and the fourth week of the exercise isn't breaking pattern any. Saturday can be given to rest and sleep; on Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock. There are no more bodies, no more bloodstains; there's nothing else to be found this morning. Unless, of course, you count whatever you found last night, strange dreams or otherwise. Once again, there's a new floor to explore; after everything that trial decided to be yesterday, you deserve the reward. And for the second time, there are rule changes, effective immediately. You might want to take note of them. |

And come on, what's Logan going to do anyway, he doesn't have any weapons on him.]
Thank you.
[He'll take a seat at the bar, then. After tasting the wine and nodding in approval, Logan speaks up again.]
...I wanted to thank you for what you had to say during the trial. The people who killed are not monsters, though what they did was obviously wrong. You expressed my sentiments far better than I could have at the moment.

No, Asuka deserved what she got, apart from the execution that broke so many Space Human Rights laws.]
Naw, I don't like Asuka at all, much like Undyne and to a greater extent, Reaver. [Yeah, he's saying it.] The only reason why folks call her a monster and not the man who uses his money to rule over his workers is because she killed someone popular.
[This will take a while. He pulls the stool he keeps behind the counter and sit on it.]
Look, where I'm front, if you start demandin' blood for everyone that gets shot, there'd be no humans or robots left on Mars. We lose folks both good and bad to mad scientist and outlaws, but that's the risk of livin' on the frontier. I hate troublemakers of the murderin' sort, but I can't lose my head every time someone dies. Sure, if a robot shot some good scientist, I'd be upset because I do not like trouble at all. And if it were one of my friends-
["Felton! Don't you die on me!"
"Felton...?"
"NO!"]
Well, I'd be much more upset, and I'd take some drastic measures. [He brushes a hand over his combed hair.] You gotta look at the troublemaker objectively, see if they got any traits that make 'em a monster that isn't killin' someone you like.
...Asuka was close, though. Ashley trusted her, and she broke that trust.

[He rests an elbow on the bar and his chin on his hand while he thinks.]
It's impossible to separate people into black and white categories like that. "Good" and "Evil"; "person" and "monster".
...It is not an easy thing to deal with, but I cannot imagine things will go any better in the future, should someone else decide to murder in an attempt to escape.
[The group is split as it is, it's only a matter of time before a fight breaks out.]

Well, we all can't be like the Marshal and lump everythin' that breaks one law as criminal. It's all about whether you're causin' trouble and makin' the community worse or better. Murder's included in that.
...Monster is somethin' far more serious than outlaw or troublemaker, though.
[But he's right. If this keeps happening, what will be of the group? Are they going to tear each other ever time?]
There is nothin' more I dislike than trouble, even in the courtroom.

Some people will undoubtedly break under the pressure here. Undyne wished to go home to save her people, regardless of the cost. She believed she couldn't trust any of us. What she did was wrong, but I understand why she acted as she did. If she truly believed that was the only way out of here...
[Logan shakes his head.]
We cannot forget that our enemy here is the Conductor or the people behind him. Tearing each other apart will ultimately do nothing, and perhaps the Conductor will do this again to another group of people once we're done.
["Done" most likely meaning "all killed".]

[Please. Reaver killed Kaneki without any consideration. Undyne challenged Byakuren to a duel to the death. Asuka shot Ashley, knowing the consequences.]
Faultin' one guy for everythin' sounds like you're pardonin' the murderers, and frankly, all of them were fully aware of what they were doin'.

[He runs a hand through his hair while he tries to figure out how to express it.]
Asuka and Undyne both knew what would happen if they succeeded, and they both knew what would happen if they failed. Reaver... did not know exactly what would happen and if he had, he wouldn't have killed Kaneki.
[...Because that would end in Logan dying and boy that sure would suck if he went back to Albion and wasn't able to do whatever he wanted without the king's permission.]
I am not attempting to pardon them for what they did. Perhaps they would have killed outside of this situation. The concern I have is that everyone here keeps placing all of the blame on the murderers. That isn't the case. We are trapped in here and offered... rewards should we do what the Conductor wants us to do.
This isn't black and white; the blame does not rest solely on the Conductor, but it is not solely the murderer's fault either.

Good. Good to see you and I agree and this together.
[He takes a bottle of gin and polishes out of habit. It gives him something to do when there's not one else to tend to.]
