trustfell | Week 5.

WEEK 5
Two more are gone this week. Luna and Chie Hori have joined those who are present only in memory now, and their passing seems to have left a lot of emotions raw and exposed.

But as usual, the group has at least a little bit of time to recover. Saturday can be dedicated to rest and sleep; on Sunday morning, the clock chimes the hour at seven o'clock. The stairwells are clear of bodies; there's no more death to be dealt with for the time being. Unless, of course, you happened to recover something particularly unfortunate in your dreams...

Once again, there's a new floor to explore; your reward for doing your job well.

And since you've survived for a month now, you are doing your job well.

However, the new floor isn't the only thing that's changed; there are a few things about the building that seem a little...off. A few things that weren't there before might be, or a few things that should be there aren't; you'll just have to see what the week brings, won't you? That is, if you're not going to be investigating all the goings-on personally...

It does seem like the place you'd practice in, unlike the ballroom. This floor is certainly more suited to a school than anything on the next one down.

I'm really not used to anything that...grand.

I wonder if all this was here to begin with, or if the Conductor brought it in? He does enjoy music.

With how old everything is and how well it fits, I'll assume that most of this was here to begin with. Aside from what we've asked for, of course. He seems to have just made do with what he was given.

We're not the first group he's done this with. [She folds her arms uneasily.] I wonder how long the others lasted.

Is this something he told you, or something you heard from somebody else?

Something he implied.

It's not really that shocking. He did put in all the work to get this set up. Just using it once would be a waste.

That's... He hasn't said anything like that to me, but I suppose it's easy to conclude. Do you know anything else?

Not much more than anyone else, I think. [Susan moves to sit on the piano bench, though not to play.] He says the dead aren't being...defiled.

So he's keeping them in a morgue rather than just leaving them there. That's a good thing to know, at the least, morbid as it is.

It's probably the best we could hope for, under the circumstances. Of course he won't send them home.

Would anyone want to find the body of a friend who disappeared?

It depends if you want hope or closure.

I'm not sure either is the better option, really.

It's one or the other. Unless you give up on hope.

Then, closure would probably be best. I'd rather know, myself.

Either way, we ought to keep trying to get out of here, though I'm not sure how.

Keep looking for clues? Apparently there's journals and things hidden in the library.

[She sounds doubtful - not because she doesn't believe Jean found it where he did, but just because it seems awfully convenient.]

Ah, that's right. If anything, for some reason, he's insistent upon this game being fair... by some definition, of course.

He even promised us a chance to hold him accountable. I never expected that.

Of course, it's not going to be that simple.

What are you expecting, then?

That he'll try to kill us himself, mostly.

And it'll be down to a fight with the Conductor and his allies? That doesn't sound promising, even if there are a lot of us.

Not really. Unless we find a whole bunch of flashlights.

[She says wryly, because she rather doubts it'll be that easy even then]

And what if light doesn't kill it? What if it only wounds it and something we can't think of finishes it?

Then we'll probably die.
